Paulinho may have done well previously at Corinthians and you're right to suggest that we perhaps should cut him some slack given it's his first season in England and the mess Spurs have been in this season. However on the other hand, his performances and form could also suggest he may not fit right in with the nature of English football. Not saying he definitely won't but maybe, the signs are there watching him this season. It's a risk, a major risk with huge repurcussions if we were to get him.

Speaking of the comparisons, it feels somewhat incomparable as if you can't speak the same main language that the company or forum is speaking, you wouldn't even be hired or be inclined to join the place. He didn't speak English in an English speaking country and yet still able to perform. All about Moreover, even if Mata hadn't learned English back then, he would still have team-mates/staff that can speak Spanish and other languages. Speaking a universal language within the country of football you're playing in is important but I really don't think it has a massive correlation with the performances like you're making it out, just more so with speaking with your team-mates/staffs. And it's not like people these days are just limited to speaking one language only as they are much more multilingual now. Hazard is indeed a better player than Schurrle (or any of our attacking players) but given the recent form, Schurrle himself wasn't doing badly and arguably deserves more.

Ability to speak the language have a direct correlation with their performance? That's kinda nonsensical. Tevez could hardly speak a word in English during his time at West Ham, United and City and that didn't stop him from performing, did it? There are a lot of factors that affect performances of players from abroad and the ability to speak the English language is the least important/relevant of those factors.

Being important to the team is one thing but he was never 100% fit, was he? Can't expect a non-fully fit player to just turn it on in a huge game like it was then and against one of the toughest teams around. Given Hazard played then, am of the opinion that he should still have done better but from Mourinho's POV to begin with, he should know better not to start him when he wasn't at 100%.

Seriously? By now, people should know well not to take Mourinho too seriously since most of the things, if not everything, he says has a motive or agenda behind it. No offence but am really glad some people here aren't the ones working at the club and on transfer matters. The way these people are going about on practically buying every talent is as though they are playing Football Manager or FIFA and doesn't seem to have thoughts on having a balanced squad.

Throwing in some (depressing) stats... 1. Man City have 4 players who have scored 20+ goals this season in all competitions - Aguero (28), Dzeko (26), Toure (24) & Negredo (23). 2. Man City have scored 154 goals in all competitions this season and 101 of them have been scored by Aguero, Dzeko, Toure and Negredo. 3. Man City have scored 100 PL goals this season. Only need 4 more goals to break the goalscoring record by a team in 1 PL season - 103 by Chelsea.
