To get this thread back on topic... According to a study by CIES Football Observatory, we sold Luiz far more than he was really worth and bought Costa less than his actual worth.. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/03/angel-di-maria-manchester-united-overpaid-study

Are they? *checks poll* Don't see them there.
-
Ignorant fool. Warned!
-
Seriously, how many times have you said that in the last few days?!
-
If you think I'm feeling upset over this, then Regarding the highlighted part, that's precisely what I've been saying! What I don't get is why some are so adamant in categorizing everyone as shit just because most of them are that.
-
He may operate in a striker position but he doesn't really operate like a striker, like those named in the poll. Would classify him using a more generic term - forward.
-
They aren't exactly an out-and-out striker, are they?
-
I wonder if Costa goes 3 games without scoring, would a member create a thread titled 'Diego Costa the Worst Striker in the World?'?
-
If you have actually read the subsequent posts, you would know that I've named some of them. And regardless of that, it's still silly to generalize (+ too easy to say everyone is bad).

Just checked. The league rules now state players only have to make 5 appearances during the season to get a medal, not the 10 previously as they have lowered the requirements two seasons ago. And it doesn't even matter how many minutes they got as long as they play in 5 games. In the case of Rodwell, he got the medal last season after making 5 appearances - 1 as starter, 4 as subs - despite playing only 109 minutes in the entire season. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2625682/Jack-Rodwell-collects-Premier-League-winners-medal-despite-starting-just-one-game-Manchester-City.html

The Dortmund players would die for Klopp too TBH. You can see that he has a very strong relationship with his players as well. It's just that he galvanizes them in a slightly different way compared to Simeone.
-
While I do agree we all have completely gone off topic in this thread, I have to ask - is complaining (or indirectly complaining) about the length of someone's post the new way to avoid a debate with a person?
-
Like I said to Fernando previously, no one seem to have mentioned that when we had Lampard and Cole in the team - the two English players we were proud to have in the team despite not being produced by us. Think you're confusing the concept of having English players in the squad with producing our own homegrown talent.
-
If so, I do hope that we won't be as gung-ho and defensively loose as Dortmund can be. Would get heart attack in every game otherwise. That Everton game was bad enough!
-
But the style isn't necessarily a new thing from Mourinho anyway. If anything, he's just tweaking a bit here and there from his usual counter attacking approach.
-
Fixed.
-
Partly I would say. Mourinho is still a pragmatic and conservative fella whichever way you look at it. And isn't it more accurate to say that Dortmund are playing Mourinho's type of football considering Klopp only established it there a few years ago?
-
I don't see how suggesting those 3 (or 2 without Henderson) could start is a ludicrous idea anyway. They might not be at the level of those players you mentioned above but with the right coaching, I don't see why they can reach that especially when we all know the qualities they possess. On a side note, we have completely deviated from the main topic of this thread. If you have really read my posts and understand it, you would know that I agree that there aren't many top talens in the England NT. Majority of them are poor-average but there are a few who are actually good, really good. It's just that some people refuse to admit that and prefer to categorize everyone as rubbish just because most of them are.
-
See above.
-
Just because those clubs pay big money for those players, doesn't mean they are automatically average. Not their fault that those clubs pay so much for them. I would argue that Wilshere, AOC and Henderson could. Okay, maybe not Henderson but he would certainly be a decent option to have on the bench. He's like a more refined version of Ramires. As for the other 2, think we would all be in denial if we do not acknowledge that they have shown their qualities. If anything, they just need someone to sort out their mental attitude and consistency to be quality players, something which Wenger hasn't necessarily achieved.
