You do realise this is not the same Lampard and Essien, right? Lampard's age means he can't run around forever and close players down as well as before. Essien's injury has also had a similar effect on him, he doesnt have the same Bison power to bully Barca's midfield. So logically they would need extra help from a player like Mikel, meireles doesnt do as much defensively and we have to make sure we are solid and dont concede before thinking about Attacking

Again, be realistic, why on earth would RDM just start playing Luiz as a DM in a massive game against one of the best sides ever. Meireles I guess I can live with but Mikel is a better Tackler as well and can keep possession better

Mikel is pretty good at slowing down the game and taking the sting out of the game, He'd be the best option there. Meireles is also too wasteful with his passing and that is something we simply CANNOT afford on a night where we will probably only have 35% possession

Only 2 midfielders? That's suicide. Madrid can do it but we definitley cannot. 4-3-3 is the way to go

We're not gonna outplay Barca obviously. We need to be Strong and Physical, just like in 2009, we have to bully them and overpower them, obviously this side is nowhere near as good as the one in 2009 but this is the only way we're gonna have any chance. This may sound insane but we need to Get at them and almost attack. If we just sit back and defend for most of the games we will inevitably lose, we dont have the Talent to be lethal on the counter, plus most teams who have tried to sit back and defend against Barca have lost. What we need to do is crowd their midfield and play the game in their half for as long as possible. Their defense is their weakness in many ways. We would need to lineup very Strong --------Mata----------Drogba-------------Ramires--- ---------Lampard-----------------Essien---------------- -------------------------Mikel----------------------------- ----Cole-------Terry----------Cahill----------Ivanovic The midfield will be very robust and Physical with this lineup. Lampard and Essien would be very deep though and we would in essence have 3 DM's, Drogba needs to be at his best, Mata needs to be there to create our attacks, Ramires and Mata would come inside alot, (Almost playing as LM and RM instead of RW and LW) essientially we would have little to no width but that's a necessity in order to crowd their midfield. Ramires instead of Danny because of his work rate and he could attack Puyol at LB, Drogba needs to tear Pique and Macherano a new A-hole and just use his strength. We'd be playing alot of long balls which will be effective against Barca because we are stronger in the air than them. All in all we will have to play ugly, Brutish and direct in order to even begin to challenge Barca. Give them no room and they will crack, but the thing is do we have the Talent and workrate to do that? Perhaps Madrid is the only one that does.....:/

I hope Gotze stays in Germany for a couple more seasons so we can rebuild our team, become a european powerhouse again and become a much more attractive team for Gotze to join. But Kagawa is much more realistic and a very good player, Would love a Japanese player on the team!

Kalou was poor, can't help but think that if someone like Hazard was in the positions and had the chances that Kalou had he would make something out of it. These types of Matches really remind you of how players lile Kalou dont belong in our team. Anyway mediocre performance in terms of skill and quality, but don't really care, we got through, Fuck Jorge Jesus that sore loser. For the Barcelona gama we are not only going to have to play at top gear, but perhaps create a whole new gear to go to lol. The players will have to play the best 2 games of their life to have any chance of beating Barca. I'm sure Di Matteo will show them the Milan vs Barca games, especially the first leg where Milan were pretty well organised and kept Barca scoreless. We need to be moving the ball quicker and with more purpose against Barca

Those prices are ridculous, no way will we sell Malouda, Meireles or Bosingwa for the price you mentioned, plus Kalou would leave for a free. Also I think Essien should be replaced by M'villa. M' villa will be world class or at least close to it. Although I think we need an attack minded midfielder more than someone like M'villa. Drogba should probably be sold, which can Leave Torres, (New Striker), and possibly sturridge for the striker role.

Amen, I used to hate Mikel's playing style but I've come around to the fact that he can be very useful at times. He should stay as a squad player and like you said it can be a lifesaver having players with different styles and attributes in order to adapt to the situation, Essien has lost his drive and cannot power forward anymore so unfortunately he is the one that should be going

Well I could not disagree more, We need to strengthen all areas of the team, Hazard for the flanks and Lucas/Eriksen for the Midfield, Plus with Mata we'd get more depth.

Why on earth do People want to keep Meireles, I was defending him alot but his performances are Average at best, he makes too many poor passess and shoots alot. I'd rather have Frank stick around in a giggs like role. RDM is sound technically, he Hasn't done much, if anything, wrong. Altough his tactical skills aren't any greater than AVB, it's his man management that appears to be slighlty better. And I say 'Appears' because if the team really was trying to get AVB fired than logically they'd play better no matter who the next Manager was.

Heavily Disagree, Torres works hard for long periods of the Match, he's at least providing an option up front, does an ok job at holding up the ball, nice Link up play, Good amount of Assists, is getting into scoring positions, is having shots at goal and is even popping the odd one in. If he starts scoring somewhat consistently than he'd be worth keeping around and can lead our line.

Thank god we won, We almost stuffed it up at the end...Again! We we were pretty comfortable in the Match, untill it got to 2-0, from than on we just sort of let the game drift on. This is a major area we need to work on, we need to be looking and pressing on for goals the entire 90 mins. That's what seperates the good teams from the great, ruthless teams. The 2nd Aston Villa goal, IMO, was poor defending by Ashley Cole. 1st Aston Villa goal was also laughable, 3 Chelsea players jumpred for the ball and none of them got a touch on it. Ivanovic was good, he's good at getting goals lol. Torres Scored, woot! He he had a pretty ordinary game IMO, but when it mattered he finished, he needs to do that alot more, He had a chance very early on as well, which a World Class Striker would have put away IMO. Now, in regards to 4th spot, It's become interesting again. Arsenal lost to QPR 2-1, this gives us a little ray of hope. Arsenal still have to play us, Man City and Stoke at the Britannia. Now, alot of things have to go our way, but if we could beat Arsenal, get at least a point from the liverpool game, and Hope Arsenal drop some points we may have a chance. Again it's a sliver of hope, we need to go on an Unbeaten run IMO if we are to get into the Top 4, and the Arsenal game becomes very imporant now
