  1. Worked his way into match day squad, not just on pitch but I reckon in training he's been bossing it too. Impressive. He could well be making ~20 appaearances at least this season, I guess on face of it it's not that much but I was so worried he'd just have another wasted season here maybe only making the odd sub appearance in early round cup games. Delighted for him.
  2. Feruz added: “I’m not going into every detail, but if I could turn the clock back I would definitely have stayed at Celtic for longer. “Listen, I had my head turned at 15 years of age. I didn’t realise there was money involved in football. I just played football for the love of the game. “There is no doubting my ability as a footballer. I’m only 21. What I have to do is show everyone I have matured. “There are many things in my life I’d do differently. Yes, I’ve done things I’m not proud of.
  3. What do people think on his build, does he struggle with more physical forwards? I ask as I haven't seen him play at Mochengladbach until their game against City and he genuinely looks the same build as when he was in reserves, he's one of the most skinny CB's I've seen. Not criticising and certainly not part of the PL brigade who thinks every layer has to be an adonis to succeed here but it's just rare to see a CB of his build, wanna know how he works round it. Or maybe he's just deceptively strong.
  4. I think he's quite unique, KDB. One player I would liken him to is mid 2000s Gerrard, when he had a bit more pace.

  6. With players like Samper, Perriera, Toral and Boga hopefully they improve as they come into the line up. Angban at the club too.
  7. Lots of reasons for that, he still appears to have benefitted from that loan. Indeed many reports suggested they wanted to sign him permanently. You still not rate him then?

  9. Can we not move this thread into current players section not youth team?
  10. Really? I thought he's been performing for the first team like how he does for the youth team, and so I've been impressed with him. I actually think his skill set is quite unique for a full back. His close control and dribbling is very good, passing is accurate. Well balanced. Most full backs struggle with the ball when not given space and he makes his own space. Marcelo makes a similar impression on me, just for being so comfortable on the ball. Despite him using his ball control to get him out of dangerous situations facing his own goal he still has an air of dependability about him. If Ivan continues his dire form this season I think Aina has a good case for being a starting XI player if we don't buy another full back. Bellerin ofc is a good example of RB going straight from U21 to starter.
  11. On a completely random note I've noted on multiple sites he's listed at 6"0 tall?!! Has he been deceptively tall over the years or developed a growth spurt literally in the last 18 months? I always thought he was ~5"9 though from watching at youth level.
  12. His goal yesterday and Hazard's goal vs Tottenham have been the only goals I've properly celebrated in the last season of football. Hasn't been mentioned a lot but I thought it was interesting that yesterday was the first time in ages Sturridge played wide right, probably the first time since Chelsea days all that time ago. His skill set as a striker is quite unique and I'm glad he's been called up. Probably England's most technical and skilful player. And always brings a goal threat. Some of his long distance shots yesterday were array yes, but he created those chances for himself, in a way no one else in the squad could. He himself had a big hand in the 1st goal and set up Rooney for a good chance later.
  13. He still played advanced for Emgland throughout in this tournament, as the no.10 in a 4-3-1-2/4-1-2-1-2. Watmore and Redmond ahead of him. Him and Baker having licence to roam forward meant England attacking were almost playing 4-2-4, with wingers Redmond and Watmore naturally drifting wide.
  14. I like his shooting technique, Eriksen/Siggurdsson like. The player you'd want on the end of a cut back 20 yards out, knows how to manipulate the ball using laces side foot or ankle

  16. Won a penalty for Rennes after a good move started by him. Forcing himself into the side..?
  17. Good goal as well. He's still only 20.. when confident/motivated has quality. Got an assist for their 5th goal as well. Wonder if he'll be rewarded with more chances
  18. Well it's obvious there's a number of mitigating factors other than Suarez that explains why he hasn't got 21 goals in other seasons, injuries, mismanagement/lack of chances etc. but you were implying he only 'poached goals' because he was playing with Suarez. That season his record was better without Suarez, he scored goals for Bolton, goals for us (not said often but he averaged a goal every 188 minutes for us, or every 2 games), and has continued to score goals for Liverpool the few times he hasn't been injured. In 13/14 he also certainly didn't poach goals, he scored a whole manner of good goals that season, this is all fact that goes against the baseless statements that suggest Sturridge isn't an excellent player in his own right and not due to Suarez.
  19. Keeping him and not sending him on loan was a pretty poor decision. Someone summed it up perfectly 3 pages ago where they said he could just be another Kalas. After so much progression at Vitesse why bring him back for a 5 minute sub appearance every month(Kalas was even worse)
  20. a) Is he going to be able to accomplish the same without poaching next to a world class striker? ----- Why does this lazy argument keep cropping up?
