  1. You're forgetting that Torres has been here for two months of the season, with July 1st being the turning point. In that time he has already been paid around £1.6m in wages so it will have to be considered there. Now, if he does go the rest of his transfer fee's £18.2m amortisation will become due and considering the £1.6m wages already paid to him the total figure left should be somewhere around the £19.8 million mark. If Milan are paying £10m with the club only ever seeing £4m of that money and the rest going straight to Torres' bank account, he would then have approximately £15.8m left on the books and therefore around £2.7m saved when compared to the £18.5m he would cost if he stayed. There may also be some payments to Torres' agent or something so the guys analyzing these figures will always use a low estimate to be on the safe side, therefore to say £1-2m saved could be pretty accurate. Not much would change this year but next season's £18.5m saving would be HUGE.
  2. Just one source reporting it so far. Rob Beasley is close to Jose, that much is true, but then again I wouldn't really be surprised if this was just another one of Mourinho's mind games ahead of a big match where we'll be facing two of our former strikers. If he really is injured, I seriously hope it's not a bad one. A couple of weeks wouldn't really hurt us that much because we only have one game and after that it will be time for an international break but anything more than that and we're fucked.
  3. Just read on twitter Marca are now linking him to Atletico again too. A bidding war for Torres?
  4. Hoping for an easy group so the likes of Basel and Ajax from pots 2 and 3 would be ideal, tough opponents in the group stages are never good because it takes a lot of focus away from important league games, From pot 4 I would love to draw Malmö. If that happened I would most likely be going there for the away game.
  5. Well, the Steaua goalkeeper did exactly the same in most of the shots and the referee didn't care so it would have been extremely harsh to single out the game winning penalty save.
  6. For a 32 year old player paying a €10m transfer fee and wages of €200k a week is a massive investment. On a two year contract the total cost of such a deal would be pretty much equal to buying for example Destro at €23m and handing him a four year contract at €60k a week, not to mention the latter still having a significant re-sale value in case things didn't work out. Different positions of course, but just a quick comparison on how expensive Alonso would still be. Tiago on a free with reasonable wages would have been a completely different story.
  7. Good news, I want him to stay. Hope Milan don't withdraw their bid for Torres now as well.
  8. Quite the opposite really. Having done our business early the new signings have already settled in well and are helping us win games but for example United are yet to see anything from their new players and are suffering because of it. I know it's exciting for fans to be a part of all the deadline day madness with players coming and going but purely from a footballing perspective it makes absolutely no sense to wait so late when the season is already under way and players signed late in the window will have to adapt to their new lives while already playing important games so they might not be able to play as well as they potentially can and it can hurt the team's chances of doing well in the season. Also, we might not be quite finished yet. If Torres and MvG go to Milan like has been heavily rumoured in the last couple of days, a one last new signing will be more than likely.
  9. I think the club have learned their lesson with Torres, no need to keep him just for the sake of being reminded about that every day... Getting rid of Torres and replacing him with a competent striker will clearly make the team a lot stronger and improve our chances of getting any silverware so why on earth should we not do that if Milan give us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?
  10. The deal was concluded today, on Tuesday, so why couldn't he? Whether he's fit enough to play is a whole new matter, he's been without a club since the World Cup and might not have been training hard enough on his own to be up to the pace of the PL so I'm guessing he won't play. Then again it's against us and he might feel like he has a point to prove or something and they'll get him on the pitch regardless of his fitness levels and adaptation to the Everton team.
  11. In case MvG is going we’ll have Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Schürrle, Salah, Fabregas, Matic, Ramires and Mikel in midfield. That’s nine players, at least five of whom will be required on the pitch at any given time and in every game there will be at least one or two substitutions for the midfield department. Loaning out Salah would leave us with just 8 players for five positions which is nowhere near enough depth for a team that plays around 50-60 games a season and we’d be a couple of injuries or suspensions away from having no midfield substitutes on the bench at all. I get it that you as an Egyptian want to see your lad play and wouldn't mind a move but from Chelsea's point of view that would pretty much ruin the whole transfer window which has been brilliant so far.
  12. As long as Milan also take Torres off our hands I'm willing to accept a loan for MvG, otherwise they can fuck right off.
  13. http://www.oneworldsports.com/?cID=2479 €160m total including transfer fee and wages. Assuming he gets a five year contract Di Maria's total cost to United will be around €32m a year, which is roughly one and a half times what Torres costs us per year for those who don't understand how high a figure we're talking about here. Madness really.
  14. Yesterday's rumours said it would be a loan with an obligation to buy next year, which would make a lot of sense for Chelsea. That way we'd still have the £9m amortisation of his £50m transfer fee on the books this year and due to the Luiz & Lukaku money the club can easily afford it but then next year we'd get a transfer fee from Milan to cover at least part of Torres' remaining book value. Basically it'd done just because of FFP but other than that it wouldn't really make a difference compared to selling him outright now. And if it's just a one year loan with him returning next year, it wouldn't be all that bad either because by then he'd only have a year left on his contract and the club probably wouldn't even have to compensate for his wages if he were to get a 2-3 year contract from some other club. A two-year contract at £80k a week is pretty much the same as one year at £170k a week so he'd get pretty much the same regardless. Also, just getting him off the team would be worth pretty much anything...
  15. http://www.acmilan.com/en/news/breaking_news_show/63350 On Milan's official web site a "breaking news" article where Milan's former manager Zaccheroni is talking about Keisuke Honda and also mentions Torres. Fuck me, is this really happening...
  16. His goalscoring record for us in Europe is quite good actually, 17 goals in 40 appearances which is almost a goal every two games. If he'd have scored goals at the same rate in the Premier League too he would have almost 50 PL goals to his name but instead he's got only 20.
  17. It's "Mercedes Benz Bank" so not exactly the same thing but I suppose you'll get the idea either way. Looks decent IMO.
  18. Good thing I had just swallowed the last of my beer when I read £25m or it would now be all over my laptop.
  19. ^ So basically we'd be selling him outright but this "loan with obligation to buy" would probably be more beneficial to Chelsea regarding FFP because the sale would then be included the 15/16 books. Amazing if the club can pull this one off. We will almost certainly buy Mattia Destro or some other adequate second striker if Torres goes and with such a signing the squad would be completed 100%.
  20. Samuel Eto'o to Everton all but confirmed according to BBC. Imagine Lukaku going to the Everton dressing room and finding Eto'o there. Another "woah, what's happening here" moment?
  21. Would be a very strange timing for a holiday so hopefully he's somewhere sorting out a transfer.
  22. Do I even want to know how you found that?
  23. You don't get to be a billionaire by wasting money on unimportant things like deodorant.
  24. After the bonuses this is how I've done so far this week: Forster 6 Taylor 8 - Clyne 5 - Jones (SUN, A) Hazard 9 - Ramsey 9 - Fabregas 6 - Sigurdsson 5 - WardProwse 3 Costa © 12 - Rooney (SUN, A) That's 63 points from 9 players and I've still got two Man United lads left for tomorrow. Only disappointment is benching Vlaar for Ward-Prowse but with everyone else scoring a minimum of 5 points I guess I shouldn't complain too much.
