  1. Not this nonsense with attitude again, we have a striker on the books who has shown the worst attitude possible and it hasn't stopped him from appearing in 134 matches doing fuck all!
  2. Real had Cronaldo and Ozil which can play in Kaka's best position(behind the striker); we've had Torres forced down our throats due to the fact that none of our other options are quite as big of a name as him. If we had Falcao/Cavani/Zlatan or some other big game he would have sat his ass on the bench for as much time as Kaka has set his ass at Real. It's not even about how good the player is, it's the fact that our board fucked up and made the blunder in the History of the EPL transfers and have been trying to justify it ever since. If our board had gone and signed another high profile striker after Torres(even Eto'o at this point doesn't count as one), Torres would not have played 134 matches to score 35 goals.
  3. Cahill making some nice comments ahead of England's games, I forgot those two played together at Bolton
  4. So he was good in the only time he was given a run in our side? In December he got injured and when he returned to fitness we already got a new manager who didn't rate him. Let's not even get into subpar matches - RvP was subpar against us and Liverpool, should we write him off? He stood out during the run in the team as one of our best attacking players just as much as Ramires and Mata. Considering he could hardly score for us how the hell do you explain that Sturridge was our top scorer in the League from open play and got into double figures of goals in the League from the right wing and despite not playing that much in the second half of the year. He doesn't need a side build around him, a flop like Torres needs a side build around him to score five goals in the League. When you have a good enough striker all he needs is a bit of service and he scores goals.
  5. Who's to say that if he continues banging goals in we won't sign him back for 50 million quid in a year
  6. Torres looses the ball every 19 minutes; He doesn't link up play any better than Di Santo would, if he was constantly being played in our side season after season; Torres form is as terrible as Ba's his conversion and shooting rate are both worse. Lukaku plays just fine with his back to the goal Torres shoots on target once a match; his passing success is lower than Lukaku - hence his decision making is obviously worse for a striker. You want a striker that shoots between 4-6 times per match Torres manages 2 shots per match on a good day and 1 on target if he is lucky. Torres first touch leads to one of two possible outcomes in a large majority of the time - a tackle or falling over and hoping the ref gives us a foul. The worse thing about Torres is his movement inside the box; I don't remember Torres being in a position to score a tap in over the last 6 months; he is flat footed inside the box; rarely tries to get in front of his marker; rarely tries to get on the end of any possible rebounds; rarely even moves inside the box - whenever a winger/full back gets to the by line you can expect a few things from Torres - either he is moving away from goal; he is not in the box; or he is standing in flat footed without moving much(usually around the penalty spot) expecting the ball to be played in his feet despite there being two defenders in the path of the ball. In conclusion - you sir are deluded Below are statistics about his hold up play and link up - he is worse than the two other strikers we have currently by a fairly large margin
  7. Its a transfer without too much risk, if it doesn't work out as a stop gap - we won't be any worse off. I don't know if Eto'o is able to be around 75% of what he previously was he would be an upgrade on any of our strikers. Just hope he has continued to keep himself fit - because his movement and physical ability are two of his best traits. Considering we have Ba and Torres on the books right now Eto'o could prove to be a major upgrade. Just because he was the best payed footballer in the World due to joining some club in Kazakhstan doesn't mean he had stopped training over those last two years. I doubt there is too much to do there anyway - other than train
  8. http://www.bsports.com/statsinsights/football/liverpools-gamble-on-daniel-sturridge-starting-to-pay-off-for-both-club-and-country Really good article for people who enjoy statistics as much as me
  9. What type of teams do most of his goals come against - Genk(2); Nordsjaelland(2); Monteray; QPR(3); Wolves; Leicester(2); Reading; Leeds; Brentford So out of his 34 goals - 14 were against teams that are Championship level or were going down to the Championship. Out of 133 matches he has 34 goals. If that's not the statistics of a Championship level striker whose found himself in the Premiership by mistake I don't know what is - I'd expect such statistics from Di Santo.
  10. Playing Torres is a criminal offense - whether Jose sees Nando or doesn't see Nando doesn't make a difference because Nando is Championship level striker that brings smiles to opposition defenders when warming up or coming onto the field. Lukaku scored a bloody hat trick against United just a few months ago and we bring on a player who in the previous 8 months managed 1 goal in the League so he can lose possession; pass the ball to the opposition and look disinterested in the middle of the field while our players are crossing into the box. The only logical reason to bring on Torres is to show Roman how crap he is so Jose is given money for the big name striker he seems to want.
  11. Bloody hell I don't know what games Jose is playing at but bringing Torres on when you have Lukaku on the bench is a criminal offense - cmon Jose we only have one quality striker RELEASE THE KRAKEN!
  12. Mikel to score the winner with a 40 yard screamer in Fergie Time
  13. Thank for the kind translation sir, I don't know how we would cope with your linguistic knowledge
  14. Well 35 minutes and both teams have been playing at a pretty slow pace without too many chances for either team. I think this suits us, but we gotta be careful or RvP and Rooney
  15. Maybe if you are into accounting but how much a player costs doesn't win you matches, otherwise Real would have won the CL ten times in a row.
  16. How much a player cost is a load of bollocks, specially if that same player is given two and a half years to find form, The board screwed up making our managers play a player who is past it and should realistically be playing at a Championship level club. Since he scores the majority of his goals against QPR; Genks; Wolves; Leicesters etc. You said it's how the World works well I show you Kaka; I show you Carroll; I show you Mendieta; I show you Sheva; I show you Veron; countless of flops who have not been given two and a half years to turn things around.
  17. Kaka also cost 100 million but he is sitting on the bench - how much he cost is a load of bollocks really. We simply sacked every manger at the time he realized that Torres is past it and would never be good enough for a club of our caliber.
  18. I'm not abusing Torres, I'm saying the facts about him since he was signed there has not been a single match I would comfortably say he has played at a World Class level. He was not signed to score against Genk; Leicester; Nordsjaelland; QPR; Monterray; Wolves etc. He was bought to be scoring against United; City; Tottenham; Liverpool; Arsenal on constant basis - managed two goals against those teams in over a dozen matches. He is not good enough and I do wonder whether you defended Sturridge; Kalou; Malouda; Bosingwa while they were at the club, I could go and check but I'm afraid of what I will find out - especially when looking at the type of abuse you throw around at fellow members of the forum.
  19. Three years ago Sturridge was banging goals in at Bolton - scored more than Torres;Drogba and Anelka combined while out on loan. I'm not taking a pop I'm stating facts. Find anything that I've said about Torres that isn't true. We still need a striker, so it's not the past - it will be the past when we actually have a striker banging goals in on a consistent basis until then we can talk about Lewa; Rooney; Sturridge; etc. So no I'm not talking about the past I'm talking about the present.
  20. We are challenging for the Champions League in-spite of Torres - until we reprimand this mistake and he is gone and we actually have a striker who is banging goals in we are going to be looking for alternatives.
  21. We are never going to make that investment work - Torres will go down as the biggest flop in English Football and we would have ended up selling the next big thing because we were trying to get the best out of a player who is barely good enough to be first choice in the Championship. In 6 months Sturridge has three less goals in the EPL than Torres has in two and a half years. Torres - 83 appearance 15 goals Sturridge - 16 appearances 12 goals Until that car crash of a signing is still at the club and we have not got a striker banging goals in consistently you best just stay away from this thread
  22. Torres has cost us a lot more than just the transfer fee and wages being paid for him for. At least Liverpool got rid of Carrollol and made some money back Torres is still ruining attacks and loosing the ball here. If one tenth of the time spend on trying to get Torres to score was spend giving Lukaku and Sturridge a chance by now we would have two of the best young striker in the League for us. By the end of the year I expect Sturridge to have twice as many goals in the League than Torres has managed in three years with us. To say that our team is not setup to create chances for a striker is laughable. Our team is simply not good enough to create chances for Torres because it takes extra effort to create a chance for some one as awful as him.
