I really dont think Bayern will sell him, I can see this becoming a bit of a summer transfer saga as to whether he will go and where he will go. To be honest I dont believe there is any player that is worth 43 million. We have been pretty open about not paying more than we should for players in the recent past and I believe it is good policy. We could sign three superb players for 40 odd million and their wages wouldnt be over the top. Im not the biggest fan of big name large money transfers, I just think it puts a lot of pressure on the player to perform and more often than not expectations are set too high

How Much Should We Spend This Transfer Season

If this was all we did, we would have a squad of about 18 players? Personally I think we need to bring in two more players than what we let go of, so if we let 5 players go, we should bring in 7 new ones, thats excluding the likes of Mineiro and Pizarro, Sheva who arent really part of the current squad -

i think the jury is till out a bit with Aguero, no doubt he has a lot of talent but is a bit unproven at this stage. Tevez is world class and i would love him, but because of the position he plays, I think it wouldmean that we need to sell either Drogba or Anelka which i cant really see happening so again I just wonder if it would improve our squad. Trying to think where we are a bit weak, definately out wide, so for me we have to make someone like Ribery a priority. -

I see where you going with the players you suggest should come and go, but looking at it, you have suggested some very good young players to bring in, but if we were to seel the players you mentioned and then buy those that you mentioned to you really feel like we would have a better squad? I suppose thats the whole point im trying to make is that we need to improve on what we currently have and not simply replace those who leave with players of equal ability. I think we really need to look at bringing in at least one player of world class ability, ie. Ribery, Kaka, Iniesta, David Villa. By doing this we will be improving what we currently have and then all we need to do is replace the players who leave with players of equal talent -
Whilst i see your point, I still think Ballack has so much offer this club. i would keep him but play him a lot less, maybe keep him on the bench more and rotate him, almost like we did with Makelele in his last season. Would be sad to see Ballack go tbh, but I really do get your point about his wages, they are enormous.

Makes sense, we need to lower our average age, could raise some transfer money and more dinosaurs head to Italy. seems like a good deal all round

With the tramsfer window fast approaching, we begin to hear rumours of players being linked with club. It looks as though this year there will be quite some more activity at The Bridge than last year. So it is time for strategizing and how do we feel we should approach the transfer window. Yes it is quite apparent that we will have a new manager which hopefully we will appoint very soon after the FA Cup final, the more time he has the better. So exactly how much work does the current squad need? Talks of an overhaul are nothing short of ridiculous as we have proven under Hiddink that we still are a world class outfit. However we do lack the sort of depth we used to have and our average age is rather high. in recent times we have seen more players going out the exit door than being welcomed at Stamford Bridge, but I feel this time round we need to bring in more than we let go. So where does this leave us? Well, firstly we need to bring the average age down, so thats means getting rid of a few players above 30 and then replacing them with younger ones. then we need to work on problem areas, most importantly a wide man. Then its all about filling the gaps with younger talent hungry for success. i think to be in an ideal postion we need two high quality players for every position. We already have that in defence with the exception of left back. Our midfield we definately need a bit more depth and out wide of course we are a bit short. We need a second choice goalkeeper and third choice striker...but who the hell do we bring in and at what cost? i really do think we need to get it right this seson with regards to transfers. we simply cannot afford another Dani Alves/Robinho fuck up that leaves us a bit short. so I say we should go out, get a manager, and aquire our targets as soon as we can and have plenty of time to prepare for the season.

Ok, to be fair, caliing them shit is leagues is very harsh and untrue, so my apologies. However the point I am trying to make is that when you compare the players the someone like Maicon is up against each week in the Seria A and the players that Bosingwa is up against there is a large gap. There are some quality players in Italy and some quality players in Spain, some world class ones in fact. But you only have to look at the Champions League to see how far ahead the English Premier League is at the moment. The only way that the English sides are being knocked out is when they play each other

I agree, ther are far better players for that price than Ashley Young, would definately rather go for Sila or even Valencia at Wigan and even they arent worth 20 mil. Im not a big fan of big name expensive signings though, all it really does is create high expectations which players find hard to deliver. Buying Ashley Young would be just like when we signed Shaun Wright Phillips
-
Then who in your opinion is the best RB in the world? Bosingwa is the best in Engalnd without a doubt so for me he miles better than Maicon and Alves because of the players he is up against every week in the English league. Its piss easy for Maicon and Alves because they play in shit leagues against shit players. Its the same as Messi, he is supposed to be the best in teh world but against an English team he could get a shot off

What friends does Mourinho have left that work at Chelsea? All his staff left with him and I cant imagine he and Kenyon share a pint every evening?
-
So our players and club get charged but the referee walks away without even a slap on the wrist, typical Uefa, typical Platini. It really is "A Fucking Disgrace"

Rjikaard started his job at Barcelona with a crap side and with some good signings he turned them into the best, so yes I would take him over Ancellotti, I prefer the style of football Rjikaard plays, the type of players he looks at signing and his willingness to promote youth players. He is charismatic and speaks perfect English, could be the manager for years. Again I reiterate, imo there is no one better that is available.
-
Havent been too copnvinced by Young this season either, he has had some very good games but been a bit inconsistent.
-
Id rather sell him and bring in someone younger who can develop around the players we already have, Deco is too old and will get injured too often.
-
Bosingwa > Maicon
-
Maybe Ancellotti will bring Kaka with him
-
Lets be honest the only reason they would even look at Ancellotti is his record in the Champions League. Still prefer Rjikaard myself, cant thhink anyone better that is available.
-
Plus he still has his best years ahead of him, and he doesnt run at a snails pace
-
How ridiculous is it that this man is allowed to make comments such as this? As the chairman of UEFA how can you be so biased towards one club competing in your competition. And people wonder where we get our conspiracy theories from. fact of the matter is, Mr Platini, that more then 3 quarters of the viewers that watch the champions league do so because of the English teams. You jealous French knob...

I agree we should back up who ever they appoint. i suppose it will be like when Mourinho left, who ever we replace Hiddink with will just not be as good as Guus, because well imo he is the best there is, right up there with Ferguson and Mourinho, it is very much a worry.
-
Id rather we keep Kalou than bring back Sheavychenko or Shitzarro, otherwise we need to sign a new third choice striker and to find one better than Kalou who is young and experienced as he is at a price worth paying for a third choice striker. Very difficult imo and pretty pointless and a waste of money
-
For me I just dont really see the need to sell too many players, or to bring in too many. Zhirkov would be a great signing, and then a new secong choice keeper, a fresh face in the midfield to replace Deco and maybe one other, wide player or striker, cant really see the need to bring anyone else in.
