My team: GK- Cech - slightly biased, perhaps, but he was certainly the most consistent of the five last season. I was tempted to go with Casillas, but despite a good Euro championships, he certainly wasn't invincible in La Liga, conceding 32 goals in 36 games, in comparison to Cech who kept 15 clean sheets in 21 matches. RB - Sergio Ramos - perhaps the best defender in the world. Was brilliant throughout the season for Madrid and did no falter for Spain in the summer. Such a consistent season - and he's only 22. CB - Vidic - Rio Ferdinand gets all the acclaim at the heart of the United defence, but when Vidic doesn't play, they leak goals and lack leadership at the back. Certainly one of the best centre-backs of his generation CB - Carvalho - again, somewhat biased, but Riccy truly is the world's greatest centre-back. In recent seasons, he has made the invincible John Terry look poor in comparison, and his display against Valencia in the Champions League in October 2007 is perhaps the greatest performance by any Chelsea defender in seasons. LB - Lahm - in defence, Lahm is everywhere, covering the centre backs with his speed and tenacious tackling ability. Going forward, he's even more menacing, as the little German's shooting ability is well-documented, having netted three goals this term already. RM and LM - Ronaldo and Ribery - the two best wingers on the planet scored more than 65 goals between them last season. Need I say any more? CDM and CAM - Xavi and Lampard - Xavi, voted the best player in the UEFA Euro 2008 championships, is arguably the best centre midfielder in the world, capable of filling in in an attacking or defending position. At Barcelona, the team revolves around him, not Messi, much like Lampard at Chelsea, who scored 20 goals in 40 games in an injury-blighted season. CF and CF - Benzema and Torres - Nothing needs to be said of Benzema's talent nor Torres' ruthlessness in front of goals - 56 goals between them suggests they are two very in-form forwards. ] Manager - Advocaat - the UEFA Cup, the Supercup, the Russian Premiership and the Russian Cup in all one year? Well done to you, sir!

Fair point, but when you compare results last term with the ones in recent weeks... West Ham - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Newcastle - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Arsenal - 3 points in 07/08, 0 points in 08/09 Liverpool - 1 point in 07/08, 0 points in 08/09 Manchester United - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Spurs - 3 points in 07/08, 1 point in 08/09 Villa - 1 point in 07/08, 3 points in 08/09 When you look at that, either teams are improving our we are faltering. 8 points less at home this season than in last year's corresponding games.

Our next home game is with West Brom. If we don't win that, heads will fly.
-
And yet when Mikel went off, we lost all sense of balance in the midfield.
-
If Carvalho and Essien were in the team, we wouldn't be conceding these crazy goals, because Riccy would be throwing himself of everything. We wouldn't say that our team was looking tired, because Essien would drive them on with a run from deep. Two players we need back. Very soon.

After a year I am back, being right and sad
BlueLion. replied to SmartWolf's topic in New Members - Say Hello!
Considering the fact we actually have a manager at the helm rather than an 'imposter' just shows how far we've gone in that year. -
Impossible
-
Same. Jim, could you put on email verification for new accounts? Might stop the rot.

I'll kiss you if that's the case We lost our shape when Mikel went off. Again - it was the case with Arsenal game, and but for a decent save by Cech at the end, we'd have lost. Again. So, we were unlucky and lucky - both teams could have stolen it at the end. The Prediction League's been updated, by the way. The top 10: 1 - BlueLion - 73 2 - Kez - 68 3 - Becky - 67 4 - T.T. - 64 5 - milan.cech - 63 6 - SS7 - 60 7 - Tri-Blue - 54 8 - terry26 - 47 9 - OllieCFC - 45 10 - Gianfranco_Z - 37 Want to change that? Perhaps Arsenal can do us a favour next weekend. Then, we can fucking take the lead at the top. Worst case scenario is that Liverpool win and we lose at Goodison on the Monday - then we're four behind. Best case scenario is that Liverpool lose and we win against Everton - that way, we can go two ahead of them. Expect both teams to draw.
-
Everton vs Chelsea Chelsea travel up north to face Everton in the Premier League. The Blues' form has been indifferent of late, having won just three of their last six matches, and losing to Arsenal. However, those three wins have been on the road - at Bolton, West Brom and Blackburn, and Chelsea haven't conceded a goal away from home since Robinho put Manchester City ahead in the 13th minute at Eastlands. That was some 651 minutes of football ago. Win a 100% away record that consists of 8 wins from 8, can Chelsea continue their stunning form on the road?

To quote a post I've just made elsewhere...
-
I disagree. If today's match had of been Liverpool, West Ham's goal would have been blown up for handball, and our penalty claim would have been given. That's the difference. They have all the luck. Fucking shite performance in the first half, coupled with woeful refereeing - I'm sorry to say guys, we're not winning the title this year.
-
ANOTHER chance blown. Fucking terrible.
-
Not good enough. To say I'm fucked off is an understatement. WE ARE FUCKING WANK AT HOME!
-
Anelka, 1-1, fucking brilliant goal. More like it, eh?
-
Awful. Fucking awful. I've got flu but I feel even worse at the minute. Absolutely diabolical first half performance, shite defending throughout and West Ham have been by far the better team - they are defending resolutely and attacking with purpose. Scolari better bring on Drogba, or he'll be hearing my boos from Derby.
-
True, but I'd class Ronaldo as a striker, in all honesty.
-
I was crying with laughter at Liverpool's result, I hope I'm not crying in disappointment at another chance wasted tomorrow.
-
Quite the opposite, he's looked better than ever in my opinion, although he hasn't been so sharp recently - then again, noone has in fairness.
-
Indeed, has been an excellent player this season and deserves this award, but I don't think he's finished scoring just yet
-
Meh, couldn't care less. I don't like the guy but I have some respect for him, since he got us to the final of the Champions League for the first time in our history. Still, should keep his mouth shut.
-
Which is fuck all to be honest

I'm shocked
