  1. I see your point, but I then repeat one of my earlier points. During the Cup of Nations, for example, it is highly likely he will play as our holding midfielder. True, we could blood a youngster, but if we came up against the likes of Liverpool and suddenly on the day of the game, either Mikel or Essien pulls out, we have Belletti to fill in. I think his experience can also help the younger players develop as well.
  2. Sturridge was going to have 18, but he's swapped to 23. Saw it on Blues News yesterday.
  3. I think it would be a massive mistake to let Belletti go. I really can't see people's reasoning for wanting to sell the player. Belletti is 32, and seems happy to retire at the Bridge. For that reason, we won't have much to gain from selling him at all. He'd only fetch around £1 million on the transfer market since he isn't a regular. However, that is why I want to keep him. Belletti is a model professional. He tries his hardest when he gets his chances to play, and scores some very, very important goals for the club. He doesn't moan about not playing every match; he doesn't criticise the club or the manager; he keeps his head down. He is happy being a squad player, and come the Cup of Nations, we will need him. Mikel and Essien are going away on international duty, so who is going to cover? Mancienne? A player who's made a couple of starts for the club; none of them in that position? Belletti is experienced and efficient, and he doesn't take him a massive salary like Ballack or Shevchenko. He's the right sort of player to have at the club, and he's a fans' favourite. He always gets one of the loudest cheers, and people sing his name even when he isn't on the pitch. Your thoughts?
  4. We won't sell Belletti. I hope. He's too much of a good squad player. Doesn't complain, gets his head down and tries his hardest. Model professional. Plus we'd only get £1 million at most for him; he's 32 and seems happy at the club, besides.
  5. Bruce Buck promised a "marquee" signing. Whoever that is, the club are going to get him, without doubt. We can hope it is Aguero.
  6. I hope there is, its always a nice day for the fans and players alike. I remember Blue Day Out in 2006 which was very, very enjoyable, I can't see any reason why there won't be one.
  7. Spot on, mate. Shows ambition for the game, rather than ambition for riches.
  8. Skysports.com understands that John Obi Mikel has signed a new long-term contract with Chelsea. The Nigerian midfielder has been with the Blues since joining from Lyn Oslo in 2006 after a protracted and controversial transfer saga. He has since established himself as a key player for Chelsea and earned particularly good reviews for his performances last season, when he had to take on more responsibility in the absence through injury of Michael Essien. Mikel's deal had been set to expire next year, leading to speculation that he could be set to leave Stamford Bridge. However, agent John Shittu revealed earlier this week that Mikel was ready to commit his future to Chelsea by penning a new five-year deal. And it is believed that the 22-year-old has now done just that to give the Blues a boost ahead of the new Premier League campaign. From SkySports
  9. I'm gonna go and make my team now. Will post it here soon enough Hopefully I won't have to change it too much. Cech Carragher Vidic Hangeland Ash Cole Denilson Essien Dempsey Lampard Beattie Robinho Subs: Sorenson, Dawson, Rodwell and Jerome
  10. They announce the televised games for the next couple of months whilst they negotiate for future matches.
  11. Think I have a bloody party on the 15th anyway. Thank god for mobile internet.
  12. Well Turnbull's best years are still ahead of him, so he should be capable of filling in when needed.
  13. Are we just singing everybody else's young English players? I like it
  14. Well if he comes to the club with the mindset of being second choice he won't push Petr at all, but coming with a positive attitude will be beneficial to both him and the other goalkeepers.
  15. Although the amount you pay you'd think they'd be player-issued
  16. And neither is a young player being "hungry" for success.
  17. Wolverhampton Wanderers are trying to sign Michael Mancienne on a season-long loan, according to Sky Sports. Click here to see the source. Personally, I think it would be a great move. MM needs to show what he can do in the Premier League to warrant a squad place, IMO. If he goes to Wolves, we can see what he can do. Its clear he'll play at Wolves as well because he would probably be the best defender at the club.
  18. Cech's good, but by no stretch is he the best goalkeeper in the world. Turnbull will do what no-one did to Cech at the end of last season and offer him some competition in training, so hopefully it should improve Petr's performances on the pitch as well.
  19. It would probably be on an external site, however.
  20. Eto'o scores 35 goals a season as opposed to 15. I'd prefer that, in all honesty.
