  1. As I say, it'd be wonderful if we won, but I won't lose sleep if we lose. Every Chelsea fan knows Sunday is a far more important game. I just want us to compete and come out of the game with some credit. The positive is that Lampard's first two games are against top sides - this is beneficial for him learning about himself and his squad.
  2. Look at the gamble we're constantly taking with N'Golo - I don't want us rushing anyone back. Take your time to build your strength, Rudi.
  3. I'm a bit worried by some of the comments I'm reading. It seems that some of you are viewing Reece as the Second Coming and that he will instantaneously transform our team. He has talent, there is no doubt about that, but I can't see him being any more than a squad player this season. People's expectations of young players are unrealistic. Look at Kakuta and McEachran as prime examples. He just needs to be given time, without the burden of unrealistic expectations.
  4. As Lampard said, Mount deserved to play based purely on merit, but I disagree with Sunday's team selection full stop, if I'm being honest. Lampard played four central midfielders when our system only allows for three, hence the imbalance in midfield that United did eventually exploit.
  5. It would be absolute insanity to let one of our three CFs go during this window. Absolute madness. Tammy and Giroud are quite alike as forwards, Michy gives us something a little different that might even have been what we desperately needed last season.
  6. I can't believe people are writing him off after one (admittedly terrible) game. It's not like the rest of the defence were particularly brilliant. I 100% agree he will be a squad player this year, as Andreas and Rudi should be our CB pairing, but give the boy some slack. He was superb for Everton last season!
  7. Just get rid of this absolute donkey. He was embarrassing against Bohemians.
  8. I don't know why we are gambling with N'Golo's fitness like this. He is going to pick up another long-term injury at this rate. Just rest him; it's not like Kovacic and Jorginho can't do a good job in his place for our next few games.
  9. People are still hyper-analysing even the most microscopic of minutiae with the United game - the simple fact is our finishing was woeful and we were extraordinarily unfortunate. We were superb for the first 60 minutes, with United scoring two fortuitious goals down to lapses in concentration. But for more clinical finishing, we could and should have scored three or more on Sunday. Conceding two goals in two minutes is enough to knock any team, from that point on we allowed our heads to drop and from then on it was a case of how ever many United really wanted to score. Even their fourth goal was a mammoth deflection. It was one game; to some extent a free hit for Frank in getting one of our biggest away games of the season out of the way. It was never a 4-0 game - there is precious little between the two teams. The concern for me is our striking options are absolutely terrible. No disrespect to Tammy, but the step up from the Championship is huge, at Villa he was being given the chance to be their main striker whereas he will be perpetually rotated this season. I like Michy but is he a 20-goals-per-season striker? Nope. Giroud is never going to be a massive goal-getter, though I like his link-up play and for that reason I'd play him in the majority of the "big" games from this point onwards. One game doesn't make or break a season, let's move on. I don't know how many of you heard Klopp's press conference yesterday, but he was very complimentary of our team and actually of our performance on Sunday, he called it a false result and expects us to challenge for the top four again. He has no need to blow smoke up Lampard's backside, and he is one of the few managers that generally speaks with integrity.
  10. Except Liverpool will most likely pummel us into the ground even if we play at 110%, we're lightyears behind their squad. I'm fairly relaxed about this. If we win, it's a nice thing. If we lose, nobody really cares, though it is one of the trophies the Roman Era has missed out on.
  11. I'd be delighted with a draw, if I'm honest I can see us losing this.
  12. We'll lose to these cunts and make them look good.
  13. That is the worst kit we've had - not just home kits, but ANY kit - in the Abramovich era.
  14. We won't even score, so the best we can hope for is 0-0.
  15. I'm looking forward to reading how it's all entirely Sarri's fault that we lost. The first half was excellent. I have no words to explain what happened.
  16. I don't see the point sacking him, to be honest. We'd be starting this entire transitional process again entirely from scratch. People need to accept we're a Europa League quality side, let's be brutally honest. Qualifying for the CL next season would be an embarrassment, we'd be out as soon as we reached the first knockout stage.
  17. That's sensational when you consider that RLC isn't a guaranteed starter and CHO initially had a bit-part role in the competition!
  18. I think you may have missed the rather large pinch of salt that came with that comment.
  19. Not sure how he's supposed to do anything when we don't pass the ball to him, tbh. Plus a striker is more or less useless in games like that, sometimes. Wolves dominated us at the back and we never looked like creating anything, yet Gonzalo looked bright, especially in the first half.
  20. I think we must look at this as a point gained, in the grand scheme of things. We were poor - we looked tired from Thursday night. Wolves were so good, so disciplined. It doesn't matter that they only had one chance, they took it. We were doing the same thing a few years back. We had no creation, no spark, no invention today. Kovacic was disgustingly bad, Jorginho was ponderous - until Ruben came on, we didn't have a midfield. The biggest issue is our full-backs - they are so far behind play that it narrows our attack and means we inevitably have to recycle and play backwards in 90% of our attacking plays. CHO struggled when he came on; he looked out of his depth in my very humble opinion. I have to say that we were lucky today. We didn't create a single proper chance. You only have to look at their goalkeeper barely making a save. Hazard - who was utterly anonymous again - saved the day with the single positive thing he did in 94 minutes. If we somehow sneak into the top four by May, Sarri is a genius. The squad is shockingly bad.
  21. This is going to be a tough game! Wolves are a decent side, albeit with some patchy recent form. 2-1 Chelsea!
  22. I'm not aboard the Reece James hypetrain yet, in all fairness.
  23. Played well. Hopefully this is a learning curve.
  24. Need a strong team. We play Everton away three days after the second leg. That's a lot of travel; get the tie won in the first leg if possible.
  25. Very happy. This is Fulham's cup final, and they played arguably their best game of the season today. There's always a reaction after a change of manager, and we did very well to keep them out in the second half. Not a vintage performance, but we had some excellent spells and some of the early-season swagger is starting to return. We now need to continue the momentum.
