If Cech was to ever have another period like mid 08/09 when he was spilling crosses like the ball was made of jelly and continuously making errors of judgement, how could we drop him if we didn't have quality youthful potential on the bench? Yes but who says in six years Cech will be the same goalkeeper he is today? If Courtois comes in and pushes him, it will improve Cech's performances as well. And there is no harm in having a quality goalkeeper as a back-up - like having a young Cudicini, for instance.
