I don't buy the 'thrown in at the deep-end' cliché. He's playing football, not trying to learn a Jimi Hendrix solo as a beginner.

We do have a lot more steel and passion on the pitch when RM16 is playing. A definite quality of his is that he is a fighter, and adds a good sense of defensive discipline to the team. We seem more solid with him playing - I mean, we've not lost a game in which he's played the full 90!

Shevchenko wasn't even bad... 22 goals in 76 games (61 starts). Roughly two goals every seven matches. Torres... he's averaging 1 goal every eight games...

It's just a sad state of affairs the fans have finally lost patience with him. We all wanted him to succeed, but he looks like he can't be arsed - so I can't be arsed with him. At least Shevchenko put in some barn-storming performances...

Time for King Kalou to rescue us. I honestly believe he can bring more to the table than Torres at present.

That's the difference between Drogba or Torres. If Torres isn't in the game... he'll do fuck all. Drogba will strop and get frustrated, then bully the fuck out of the defenders, drop deep, help out defensively... he plays for the badge and with great heart. With Torres, you get the feeling he regrets leaving Liverpool. He's had the best part of a year and he's playing worse than Kalou or Malouda ever could, but because he's an iconic striker and we spent so much on him, no-one is willing to accept the fact we've been absolutely screwed over. Torres is gone, we'll be lucky if he reaches 8 goals for the season this year.

I never really expected much this season anyway. Andre has the wrong tools for the job - he has a squad with no desire or fight left. I'm willing to give him the time he needs to change things; but I fear that change won't come until next summer, meaning we're in for a long season indeed. Time to review our priorities and pray for a top four finish.
