Lukaku is a nightmare for defenders, I would imagine. Because he looks like Drogba, people expect him to be strong and powerful. They're quite right. However he is also frighteningly fast and has a sense of youthful enthusiasm for the game. That makes him a very potent player. He still isn't quite ready, but if he doesn't start against Birmingham this month I will be pissed, because imo he has shown enough in his cameos to deserve it. From the fact he has played a small part in the last two league games it would suggest AVB has faith in him.

Luiz has been brilliant recently. He has started to find the sense of positional discipline so many of us have been crying out for.

You can limit that down to how many games have we won over the last 12 months because of Drogba's performances? The answer to both is a whole lot more than we have thanks to Torres. Drogba's contribution continues to be undervalued. He is nowhere near the player he once was, because age has finally caught up with him. Since the malaria incident he has lost a lot of his body muscle and because of this, he is no longer as good as he was physically. Nevertheless he is still capable of producing a handful of brilliant moments in a game, which is something I doubt Fernando has the confidence or the ability to do at present. Look at that performance against Valencia. He took on five or six players at a time and beat them on a couple of occasions. Torres wouldn't be able to do that, ever, not even if he got back to his supposed best. It's a sad state of affairs but we have two has-beens for centre-forwards, but the Ivorian can offer more than the Spaniard can, despite the price tag and the will of the supporters to see him succeed. I am desperate to see Torres score goals for Chelsea, but his return in the last year is simply not good enough. I have lost faith in him, whereas in Drogba - who is unreliable himself - you have someone who can still change games. You just don't get that feeling with Nando.

I think United fans are trying to forget de Gea as well! He's been very shaky, I would have thought he would have banished his demons by now but he continues to look a rabbit caught in headlights. He just needs time, like all young goalkeepers. Courtois is an exceptionally good goalkeeper. I have to confess that before we were linked to him, I'd never seen him play. We don't have an offensive problem. As we saw earlier in the season, we could score goals for fun and fight fire with fire, but that was at the expense of defensive resilience. Now we are stronger at the back but lack firepower going forward. It is about finding the right balance.

You can't say one world class manager is better than another. Wenger is brilliant at scouting and getting the best out of seemingly average squads - his man-management is first-class. Sir Alex is very much in the same boat. Hiddink and Mourinho are brilliant tacticians. There are no grounds for the comparison, because they all have different strengths and limitations, which is exactly why they are some of the greatest managers in the history of the sport.
