Same. Locked.

I'm not disheartened after that. City perhaps deserved to win but our defensive performance suggests we should have had something to show for our endeavours. Torres looked lively again, against much better opposition this time round, which is very encouraging. We played quite well - in fact, if we perform like that against Tottenham, we'll win.
-
Or - how about this for a revolutionary idea - keep the same fucker as this season for one more year.

We cannot afford to miss out on the UCL. Looks like we're going to have to win it! Thankfully Spurs are in free-fall at the minute, I actually think they're most at risk of falling out of the top 4!

Proposal - change to the Matchday Chat system?
BlueLion. replied to BlueLion.'s topic in Announcements & Support
The timer is just a guess, and it would work if the matches kicked off on time. -
And if we win we can praise my lucky ring as some sort of godlike entity
-
I can't wear my shirt tonight as I'm at work I'll have my ring on though! Also can I just say we've won 3 of the 14 games we've played on days I've been at work this season. Just saying.

It's not even as if he's been playing well recently. Add in the fact he's missed some absolute sitters, he's only forgiven because he's young and English. He should be dropped, but as we have no RW (and we still don't when he plays...) he maintains his position in the side. He is exempt from criticism for some reason. People say he's greedy; the responses range from his youthfulness to his confidence to his inexperience. They are not grounds for pardon as far as I am concerned. Danny Welbeck is a far more mature player at a more tender age. He doesn't feel the need to dribble around every player on the pitch and obnoxiously ignore players around him. He pulls off what he is doing once every dozen times, which is even less productive than Torres. You don't notice it when he's scoring, but when he isn't you realise he really is quite average, and will remain so until he matures and offers greater productivity. That being said, he shouldn't be in a state where he must learn to make the right decision, because surely every player knows shooting from some of the angles he attempts just does not work.

I have hundreds. I'm not even joking, I'm ridiculously superstitious when it comes to football. I have to ensure things are in a certain place, when I'm going to the Bridge (unfortunately very rarely these days) I have a particular pre-match ritual, and mainly it is a load of little things. Like I have a 'lucky shirt' that we've only ever lost twice in, for the sixty or so times I've worn it for matches. Then there's my lucky ring, we've never won when I've forgotten to put that on before a match. Plus dozens of other little things. Its absolutely ridiculous because I'm not a superstitious person, bar for football!

The whole Scottish league system should just be merged with the English one, it's the only way it'll grow.

Such a cool set of videos. The club should do more of this stuff, it is a great way for the fans to engage with the players.

Chelsea goalkeeper Henrique Hilario has signed a one-year extension to his current Chelsea contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2012/13 season. The experience Portuguese stopper, who was part of our Double-winning squad in 2009/10, joined the club in 2006 from Nacional as back-up to Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini. Signed by Jose Mourinho - a man who new Hilario from his Porto days - Hilario repaid the faith shown in him by the Special One as he made a number of fine saves in a 1-0 win over then-European Champions Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in October. In 39 appearances for the West London side, Hilario has kept an impressive 18 clean sheets - and the Portuguese stopper has been an able deputy for Cech this season; putting in a particularly good display in the side's 2-1 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge back in August. However his most famous display for the Londoners came as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Fenerbahce in the 2007/08 edition of the Champions League; coming on as a substitute for the injured Carlo Cudicini, making fabulous saves from Ugor and Colin Kazim-Richards despite not having played competitive football in over three months. Hilario has also been capped at international level, making his international bow in 2010 against China; a game in which he played in the second half and kept a clean sheet. The news means that young goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is likely to remain on loan at Atletico Madrid for a second season, as Hilario fights with Ross Turnbull for the right to deputise for Chelsea's number one. You can discuss the news in Henrique's player profile.

NEW DEAL http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2685532,00.html

He consistently makes bad decisions. You call it good play but I'd rather see him square the ball for a tap-in for another player than see him try and dribble around the goalkeeper twice, six defenders and the manager before shooting from an impossible angle. He isn't Lionel Messi, and never will be.
-
Maybe you could just accept the fact he's not going to save those shots, and neither is any goalkeeper in the world?
-
To win trophies you have to beat the best. Bring it on.
-
Soon. Revealed April 24th if memory serves, it'll leak a couple of weeks beforehand.
-
I can't stand how selfish he is. He almost always chooses the wrong option, and he is more frustrating to watch than Malouda or Kalou - because you know he has the talent and the ability, but he is wasting it by going for glory. Pass the fucking thing you tool.
-
I think this will be a score draw. 2-2 perhaps. City are licking wounds and have a point to prove; on the other hand we are absolutely buzzing, playing with terrific confidence and ability, and we are totally reinvigorated under RDM. Makes for an interesting game. I think it will be very open, but City are certainly not the team they were even a couple of months ago. Thankfully, neither are we. Drogba will be the difference.
-
Absolutely. I know this may sound awful, but such a thing happening actually makes you proud of human achievement; we now have the power to potentially stop death. I hope the lad pulls through, and as you say, it will entirely be down to that wonderful group of people that reacted so brilliantly, in a true professional manner, to do what they did in such pressurised circumstances. The whole world was watching. Its times like these you hope there is a God, because such good-will could only result in a positive outcome.

This isn't a case of being a Torres fanboy. I merely support a player that puts in considerable effort into every performance, which until very recently, was something of a rarity at this club.
-
Yet van der Sar was an amazing goalkeeper in his own right. But that is another debate. I see no cause for concern in Cech's performances. Even during his best days he was prone to the odd error. Yes, there are shots he should have saved, but think of the occasions even this season when he was single-handedly (no pun intended) won us matches. He is no longer the keeper he once was, but he is still a damned fine all-round goalkeeper and remains one of the world's best. This season we have leaked goals because our defence is now shot. With all respect, Ivanovic and Luiz are no Gallas and Carvalho. Terry is not as good as he was, and I'd love to know who this imposter dressed up as Ashley Cole is. Don't even get me started on Bosingwa! Our style of play is more adventurous as well, which has led to us conceding goals more often. You can't blame the goalkeeper at all. If you were to make a count of the amount of times Cech has made a stunning match-winning save in the dying seconds and compare them to the amount of shocking gaffes he has committed, you'd be looking at a 10:1 ratio. As a keeper myself and also a goalkeeping coach, I'll take that.
-
I won't accept your apology, because I feel there is no need for such action. I hope you decide not to take a 'break' from TalkChelsea, Tomo, because we need members of your intellect and eloquence. We all say things in the heat of the moment but I actually entirely agree with what you were arguing. Hypocrisy is rife on the internet, but this is part and parcel of the concept of debate. What is said is now done and hastily stuffed underneath the rug, I suggest we all move on and stop being so damned sensitive.

Meireles is an attacking midfielder. At Porto he played as a LAM in a 4-2-3-1. No surprise to see him perform well there.
-
Playing him CB was a good move by RDM. Would have been easy to rest him, but he is a commanding presence for us at the back, another good game.
