Magnificent player and a huge loss to the Premier League. But nowhere near the prices being touted. I would say £35 million is a realistic evaluation when you think of what Modric and Hazard have recently moved for in £. But this confirms that La Liga and the Bundesliga are miles ahead of the Premier League. Otherwise we'd be attracting their star players, right? Look how discarded, surplus-to-requirements players like Yaya Toure have made such massive contributions here and compare them to what they did in Spain. Amazing how far behind we are.

Yeah, if you'd read the whole topic you'd have realised I said we won't be having a VIP section after re-assessing the possibilities.

He'll be at United next season. Which, in my opinion, would mark a significant psychological blow by Chelsea. Mourinho is trolling United so hard right now.

^ I'd agree with that, but I like the gold on those kits as it celebrates something very special; of course our centenary in 2005/06 and then last year it was as if adidas knew we were going to win the Champions League!
-
I'd just like to assure you all that Jim is very busy looking into solutions to the problem, and the rest of the staff are doing their best to assist him in making the right decision to ensure we are at 100% capacity for the new season. No worries!

I'm not going to be critical of his passing on those pitches, they were absolutely horrendous. I think he can do a decent job for us this season. Have some faith.
-
Very damning. I'd agree with you in saying the away and third kit aren't the most inspiring, but it is nice to have plain, clean kits for a change instead of luminescent trim! The home kit is absolutely gorgeous and IMO is the third-best home kit we've had since I've been a fan (behind the 05/06 centenary kit and last season's).

Done! Don't know why it didn't change last time! And I was serious about mine!

BNI Indonesia All-Stars 1-8 Chelsea Scorers - Hazard (21', pen), Ramires (29', 56'), Ba (31'), Terry (45'), Traore (50'), Lukaku (51', 66'). More than 80,000 spectators crammed into the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta to see José Mourinho's Chelsea romp to victory over the BNI Indonesia All-Stars. In what was the first game to be played in Indonesia in the club's history, Ramires and substitute Romelu Lukaku were both at the double to inspire the Blues to an eventual 8-1 triumph in a mesmerising pre-season encounter. Whilst the Blues' previous tour wins over the Singha All-Stars and a Malaysian XI were somewhat uninspiring, the hosts proved to be gallant opposition and such a landslide margin of victory does their endeavour much disservice. The loudest cheer of the night was reserved for a late consolation goal as Tomas Kalas haplessly deflected the ball into his own goal in the dying stages, but that error will do little to demean what was an excellent attacking performance from Mourinho's men. Eden Hazard got the Blues off to the perfect start with a coolly-taken penalty before Ramires and Demba Ba both hammered home emphatically from close range. John Terry got his name on the scoresheet when Gary Cahill flicked on Ryan Bertrand's deep free-kick to make it 4-0 at half-time. Substitute Bertrand Traore, who captured the imaginations of thousands of Chelsea fans with an impressive performance and goal in the last match, saw his stock continue to rise when he netted the pick of the strikes immediately after the interval, whilst Romelu Lukaku continued his excellent pre-season campaign by netting the sixth and the eight. Sandwiched between those goals from the Belgian was a well-taken second from Ramires, who was one of several players Mourinho gave extended match-time to. Gary Cahill became the first player to complete 90 minutes in pre-season. There were also run-outs for young stars Lucas Piazon, Wallace, Jamal Blackman, Josh McEachran and Nathaniel Chalobah, and the latter came close to scoring in the first half when he saw a shot come back off the base of the post. In truth, the combination of woodwork and goalkeeper was the only thing that prevented the Blues from winning by an even greater margin; Wallace also hit the post with a shot after a break-neck counter-attack, whilst the home goalkeeper also saved well from Ramires and Hazard in the first-half. Next stop, after a few days of rest back in the UK, is the United States for four more games - including clashes against Italian giants Inter and Roma - and then it's home once more, for the Premier League to begin. It should be noted that the Blues face a very early-season fixture pile-up, as their home game against Aston Villa has been moved to the first midweek of the season to accommodate the Blues' UEFA Super Cup commitments.

Touché! The whole paint thing is awesome, but the "it's not white/black, it's blue" tagline is fucking cack.

I'd refund their pound, then ban them. Like a boss. In all seriousness, I don't think a VIP section will work. I personally think the best thing to do is just for more donations. If people can't stand the fact the forum sometimes crashes, then donate £1 a month. Simple as. The more donations we have, the less the forum will crash.
-
^ I'd agree with that, the material this year is almost abrasive, and quite irritating in the skin at times! Takes a bit of getting-used-to.
-
Could work. But would people really want to pay £1/£2/whatever just to remove adverts? What could we include in the VIP section? I was going to say possibly the multimedia section, but that would exclude a few people and might deter people from sharing their stuff.

^ especially now Reading and QPR have been relegated as well. Of course I don't know who we're playing in the cup, but you can only see us wearing the black kit for at most four league games: Everton, away - we normally wear white at Everton, but their kit has white socks and white shorts, as well as white hoops on the shirt-sleeves this season. We could wear white if we change the shorts for SMUs (special make-ups) as we did last season at West Ham:Manchester City, away - City's home kit is substantially lighter this season... so if we wore black instead of white last year when they had teal instead of sky-blue, we're dead certain to wear black there.West Brom, away - although we've almost always wore blue against the black-and-white of Newcastle, we always wear a change strip against the Baggies. Obviously white will clash, so it definitely be this all-black kit next season. West Ham, away - we always wear a change strip against the Hammers. We may wear the white kit with SMU black shorts, but I think we're more likely to wear black this season.

I think we're going to see Frank rested strategically. After all, age has proved to be no detriment on his ability to inspire in big matches. I think we are quite likely to see Lampard rested for major matches in the league, and any knock-out cup/European fixtures. Many people think Frank doesn't have the positional discipline to play in the deeper role, which to some extent I would agree with as at times last season it was as if he was totally fixated on breaking the scoring record rather than functioning for the team, but if you cast your mind back to 11/12, he was already playing in the deeper role and did it to breathtaking effect in major games, especially home and away against Barcelona and of course in Munich. He adds a competitive edge and of course limitless experience, and he is a big-game changer; people talk about Hazard and Mata as sources of inspiration, but Frank is just as likely - no, in fact, he's probably a bigger goal threat than both put together - to find us a goal out of nowhere. He is the ultimate player and I think if Mourinho is prudent in his thinking, he can get the best out of Frank for the next 2-3 seasons. Under Mourinho's management he may even get near the 250 mark.
-
We can be concerned that we haven't targeted anyone other than Rooney, yes, I'd agree there. But I also think it shows that the board has matured considerably, and are learning from the failed Torres/Shevchenko experiments, at long, long last. Unless we see it as a prudent investment, I can no longer see us spunking out anything more than £30 million for a player ever again.
-
I like the idea, but it has previously been shot-down as being elitist... I'm all for it, but what could we include as things in this VIP section? I'm also not exactly sure if it would be possible to remove adverts for VIP users. Any ideas?
-
This. Totally uninspiring, but at least we don't have something akin to this: I'm really not going to complain.

Done.
