  1. Played 30 minutes for Brazil today. Might not be fit to start, but he's okay.
  2. I presume the lack of posts in this thread is because of how good Gaz has been this season? He is one of those players that needs a string of games - and there is no doubt that he is being helped by playing in a defensive four that isn't changing in every game, as it was under di Matteo and Benitez. Cahill may not have the technical ability of Luiz, but alongside Terry he is a very solid defender indeed. He gives absolutely everything, and as far as I'm concerned, he's been one of our best players alongside Terry and Oscar in the four games we've played this season.
  3. You'd be respected around here - and have your own opinions acknowledged - if you dropped the pretentious bullshit in thinking your point of view is superior to that of anyone else. Completely uncalled for to call someone's opinion "the funniest piece of work" you've read on the forums - why can't you just do what normal people do and say "sorry, I disagree" - you can then put your point across without looking like an infantile, arrogant twat.
  4. I know it sounds sad, but I'm really looking forward to the Swindon game, for when he makes his debut
  5. Was hoping to get tickets for this but it's as good as sold out.
  6. Wouldn't be surprised if Cech left. Courtois is too good a prospect not to be given game-time, and Cech deserves to be first-choice.
  7. Really can't be fucked with this forum anymore. Honestly. How people can argue so much over a MOTM award is fucking hilarious. I've just finished a 13-hour shift at work and come home to this.... I've put too much hard work and effort into this forum since 2007 as a member, and since 2008 as an administrator to see people leave because of petty, childish squabbles. Not having it. Rest assured I will get to the bottom of all of this. Those who are in the wrong - think on your sins.
  8. Nothing about Eto'o's injury on the official site. http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3452111/title/international-round-up-etoo-starts-as-cameroon-reach-play-offs
  9. I can't believe it either. And why should we need luck? Just let the members decide for themselves.
  10. The Thor avatars was Stingray's idea, and it's added a layer of humour to the forum. Exactly what this place needed. And I'm in no position to remove what people choose to have as an icon to represent themselves online.
  11. Easy to say that in retrospect, Billy, but in fairness it is entirely circumstantial - we don't know what really happened. I was furious at Terry after getting sent off against Barcelona. I even made a topic a while back saying he should be dropped as captain and replaced by Lampard. But - regardless of what has happened off the pitch - he's been a legend for us, and you cannot overlook his contribution to the cause since the age of 14. Let's be fair here, he's a damned-good footballer. I don't really give a shit who he shags.
  12. Poll says it all. What do you reckon we should do?
  13. Right time to close this thread. On behalf of all TC staff I would like to profusely apologise to all those nominated in the poll. You are all magnificent members and fully deserve the recognition for it - I'm just embarrassed that your thunder has been stolen by this debate. Nevertheless, you all deserve your nomination, and congratulations to The Skipper - again!!
  14. Would help if people voted for a clear winner, though, Ron. Tied at 14-all atm.
  15. A possibility. Another one is Jim has devised a new system where the person who gets the most likes over the course of a month gets voted MOTM. I personally think it would be brilliant because I'd win it every time.
  16. No-one is seeing you in a bad light at all mate, I just think Kerry is saying she feels a little scapegoated (not necessarily by you) as people as using her as an example of being an "other member" rather than a "football member". I don't think she is angry or upset; knowing Kerry as I do I simply think she doesn't want to be waved around as a scapegoat! As for me setting the record straight - my thoughts on this are very simple: this is a forum, and people on here are very serious about it. I used to be, but now I am very laid back. If someone is pissing about and making other peoples' experience of the site a poor one, then the banhammer comes out. That's as serious as I get now. I no longer come on here to be the guy who says "get back on topic"... I leave that to the peasants (BluesMaster and Nour ) I'm just saying that the system isn't perfect - I know it isn't, and I've tried to change it to make it more inclusive/representative, only to be voted down - so now my stance is if people are going to squabble over the MOTM award instead of celebrating it, then we may as well get rid, right?
  17. Dear all, After a brief conversation between Choulo and myself, we have decided this will be the last edition of the TalkChelsea Member of the Month. You may congratulate your petty squabbles as being the reason behind this. Regards, Forum Management. ^ is the above the route you'd like to traverse down?
  18. I've only just woken up, and can't be arsed writing in full prose, and since so many of you like to hit near the knuckle, I'll do the same. Who said the award is about football-related-matters only? If that was the case we might as well give the fucking award to SeB or Peace every month. If the people YOU think deserve the award aren't getting nominated, that doesn't make EVERYONE ELSE wrong because they haven't seen something making that member worthy of nomination. If you don't like the format, then that's tough. This is a forum, not parliament; do you honestly expect us to devise some sort of ingenious system that is totally inclusive and yet representative of overall contribution? This is a forum, where popularity is the basest hierarchy. People will always judge by it. What do you suggest we do, throw all nominees into a pit armed with sharpened sticks, and the last one standing wins? Absolutely brilliantly-put. Can't have said it better. As for you second point, I said for the July MOTM poll that I would assess all the nominees and judge the people who were most deserving of being submitted into the voting stages - but that idea went down like a lead balloon. So here we are. If you, or anyone else, has a better suggestion, I'm genuinely all ears! And I agree, I think it should be different, but for the life of me I can't think how to facilitate that. Last month I suggested that myself or the staff evaluate people before allowing them on the final poll, but that was a very unpopular notion. What else can we do? We can't come up with a list of guidelines because that is what makes MOTM so inclusive. We can't say 1. post well, 2. create unique content, 3. don't insult or engage in arguments with other members - because that is already implicitly in the rules anyway! Furthermore if we go any more explicit in the guidelines, then it stops a lot of great people from getting their contributions noticed. As says, not everyone can post incredible articles and analysis - so does that mean we should exclude them from the poll? Not on my watch. That's what I've suggested in the poll, and if enough people carry that notion forward then I'm happy to put it in place. Just makes things more inclusive for everyone, and a little bit less repetitive of people seeing someone who is usually up there and thinking "yeah, he's normally pretty good", or "yeah she is usually on-the-money" and just automatically going with them! Well put, Kerry! We all know that you are incredibly knowledgeable in almost ALL subjects! And you're quite easily one of the most popular - and nicest - people here. Your nomination is well deserved. Again, as I said to Kojo, you're right. This award "more often than not isn't about members who contributed with football stuff". Absolutely spot on - because it isn't. It's inclusive of the forum on the whole. Let's say I am just an ordinary member, who posts about 15 times a day. Pretty intellectual stuff when analysing, but still can have a lot of fun. Relatively popular, have a few close friends. That's nothing in comparison to the likes of people like Rmpr who eat that sort of contribution for breakfast - but then let's say I go on an advertising drive and on behalf of the forum I get 50 people to sign up over that month, and 20 of them become regular contributors. Okay, so I didn't write the fancy articles and analyses, but I've made a contribution to the forum itself - now that is worthy of MOTM-nomination without being a brilliant "football member". So let's compare and say that this month Rmpr has made 1000 posts and posted 10 really good articles - and I've made 200 posts and brought in 50 members (20 of them becoming regular posters), and those members have gone on to post 500 posts themselves since arriving, who's made the bigger contribution? It just shows you don't need to be a footballing genius to qualify as a quality member, and I for one absolutely am grateful for every post and every topic - every minor contribution - that people make on this forum. It didn't change last month because people didn't want it to. We have to run the forum how the majority want it to be ran, sadly. It's funny how people say "no offence" or "nothing against you" before going on to insult people directly Read up for my points in regards to whether people are "worthy" of being nominated. Although going by your view, you want to make it more inclusive for people yet at the same time want to limit it to the core of knowledgeable die-hards, ironically meaning we'll see the same poll of The Skipper-Peace-Rmpr.-SeB-TOPTB every month from now-on. Very fair point, Kerry. The fact so many people have nominated you over the last two-three months shows you deserve to be up there. I voted for you, and want you to win, because I think you are one of this forum's best members. Simple as that. Yeah, absolutely. Or maybe we should make it much more simpler and you and I just decide who's been the best member this month? You know what they say, the kid will cry when he eats his favourite flavour of candy, but he'll cry more if you take the bag away.
  19. I won't make up an excuse like normally, just going to say I miscounted, which I did. My bad.
  20. What's this about people sleeping with cocks under their pillow?
  21. Newcastle at home last season as well. He was brilliant. Unplayable; looked like a £50m striker.
