  1. Axel Witsel would be my ultimate fantasy choice. It's like the guy is hand-made for the "Essien role" - that one piece of the midfield puzzle we've yet to fill. Unless we sign Pogba instead (far more likely, though for that price I'd rather not...), it'll be another season of square pegs (Mikel, Ramires) in round holes. A 4-3-3 will be "kinder" on Ramires. In the 4-2-3-1, especially when he's played out wide, there is too much of a reliance on him actually passing the ball, which, as we all know, he is rather shit at. Rambo's strengths are his combative nature and dribbling with the ball - played in the "Essien role" (basically in a 4-3-3 you have a sitter - Matic - an attacker - Cesc - and a marauder who does a bit of both - the "Essien role) he could have a good season for us. But I'm of the belief he had a stinker of a season in 13/14 and I'm not sure if he has a future here if we make another big midfield signing. Personally I'd rather we just gave Chalobah, McEachran and Aké a bit of a go in midfield next season than splashing the cash just now. There's always January if things go tits up. Tiago looks like it's definitely happening, which I'm happy about. The bloke has basically convinced half of Atletico's team to join us. Plus he's a class act himself. Great guy with a terrific attitude and a player we let go far too early. He'll bring experience and nurture the younger players in the sqaud.
  2. Cech almost died playing for this club. That'll never be forgotten. Legend.
  3. Name: Spike Spiegel Reason: General Cuntishness Punishment: Suspended for 48 hoursFucking asshole.
  4. I just call him Pierre! Aww-bam-e-yang is the pronunciation I'd go for. So it's probably wrong.
  5. That's not what he means and you know it isn't. I'm a football coach and last night at an under 8s training session, I had dozens of kids laughing and joking saying they were going to bite someone. It only takes one bad tackle or push and that bite becomes a reality in the heat of the situation. And you're saying a bite isn't assault?
  6. HAHAHAHAHA http://forums.thisisanfield.com/index.php?/topic/17644-suarez-9-game-ban/
  7. The earliest he can play in the PL is the 25th of October.
  8. Four months isn't long enough. But it'll do.
  9. Chelsea will play Hungarian side Ferencvaros in their final pre-season warm-up game ahead of the Premier League curtain raiser against Burnley. Scheduled just six days before the visit to Turf Moor, the game against the side who finished third in the Hungarian first division last season will complete José Mourinho's side's preparations for an all-out assault on silverware next term. The match will be shown exclusively live on Chelsea TV, kicking off at 7.45pm BST on . It will be the first game to be played at the Stadion Albert Flórián in Budapest since its redevelopment. The state-of-the-art ground now has a capacity exceeding 25,000. Chelsea's full pre-season itinerary: Wedneday 16 July - 7.45pm BST kick-off - Wycombe Wanderers - Adam's Park - Wycombe, England. 10. Chelsea duo Gary Cahill and Frank Lampard are flying home with the England squad after their disastrous World Cup campaign ended in a drab 0-0 draw with Costa Rica. Cahill, along wither former Blues striker Daniel Sturridge, was the only England player to start all three games in Brazil for the Three Lions, whilst Lampard - out of contract at Stamford Bridge - captained the side in what is likely to be his final international appearance. The England pair are not the only Chelsea players to be returning home early, as the Blues' Spanish contingent shared the ignominy of going out at the group stages. That means that new arrival Cesc Fabregas joins Fernando Torres and Cesar Azpilicueta on the plane home, whilst Diego Costa - widely rumoured to be joining them at Stamford Bridge next season - failed to net in his two starts. Samuel Eto'o's Cameroon finished pointless and bottom of Group A, whilst there was heartache for former Chelsea pair Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, whose Ivory Coast side were knocked out by a stoppage time winner as Giorgios Samaras' 91st-minute penalty sent Greece through. Despite those disappointments, the Blues will still be well represented in the latter stages of the tournament. John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses and Kenneth Omeruo will progress with Nigeria provided Bosnia at least hold Iran to a draw, and Andre Schurrle's Germany are all but guaranteed to progress as group winners should they avoid defeat against the USA. Germany's progress signals the end of the road for former Blue Michael Essien, whose Ghana side need to beat Portugal and hope Germany defeat the Americans - similarly Raul Meireles and Portugal need an even great swing in goal difference to prolong their stay in Brazil. Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, and Romelu Lukaku are through with ex-Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and Belgium, whilst Oscar, Willian and Ramires - along with PSG-bound David Luiz - will also be present in the knockout rounds with the host nation Brazil. 12. At least we won't have to see his ugly mug on Match of the Day ever again. Cheerio you horse-toothed wanker!
  13. We won't sell him. Not yet. After Mourinho publicly backed him, he's probably here on a last-chance basis. If he has another poor/indifferent season in the same way he finished 2013/14, he'll be gone, and José will go and buy someone he wants. Selling Mata has shown no one is irreplaceable, and/or undroppable.
  14. I'd go as far as to say he has been the player of the tournament so far. So exciting to watch.
  15. Looked so far out of his depth last night. Yes, the potential is there, but my lord his positional discipline is atrocious at times. He has a lot to learn. He might be a talented player but is he worth £40 million? Maybe if he stays at United for ten years, it'll have been a good investment. But it seems like another panic buy by them. I like Luke and think he'll be brilliant. I think he is at least as good as Bertrand is, but we're far better off going for someone with experience, like Luis.
  16. Beckham was severely overrated, but for some reason (probably his likeability, he seems to be the nicest guy on earth) he is a footballing treasure. He was nowhere near Scholes' or Giggs' level.
  17. Nigerian wide player Victor Moses is likely to be farmed off after failing to impress during his loan spell at Liverpool. The loan deal to Liverpool last summer, which, in strengthening a direct title rival, raised eyebrows at the time, but the Nigerian failed to make much of an impression at Anfield after the emergence of teenage sensation Raheem Sterling. Moses, who enjoyed a promising start to his Chelsea career under the tutelage of Roberto di Matteo and then Rafa Benitez, scored ten goals in forty appearances during his début season - but the return of José Mourinho and the arrivals of Willian and Andre Schurrle last summer saw the Nigerian leave Stamford Bridge in search of more first-team opportunities. But Moses' indifferent form last season relegated him to a bit-part role under Brendan Rodgers. The January signing of Mohamed Salah has pushed Moses even further down the Stamford Bridge pecking order, and it was revealed yesterday that another loan move is likely. Amongst those clubs mentioned were Everton, managed by Roberto Martinez - Moses' manager when he was the star man at Wigan Athletic. The Liverpool Echo have suggested that Martinez is greatly interested in bringing Moses to Merseyside, but on a permanent deal rather than the loan option Chelsea seem to prefer. But another of Martinez's former clubs, Swansea, have supposedly emerged as the front-runners after the Welsh outfit missed out on Marseille-bound Michy Batshuayi. West Bromwich Albion's new coach, Alan Irvine, is also known to be an admirer of the Nigerian international, and the former Preston boss is keen to secure the arrival of Moses soon after the World Cup despite Swansea's interest.
  18. Totally agreed Henrique. And before anyone jumps on what we're saying, neither of us are denying the fact that he is a very special player indeed. He just isn't (obviously) Ronaldo, Bale or Messi level just yet. We need to be patient with Eden, because he is continuing to grow as a person and as a player, and if nurtured correctly, he could become one of the greats of his generation. But right now, Hazard is only really turning it on once every three or four games; in most games he is not the special or world-class player some people on here make him out to be. But he is still very young and will continue to grow - we just have to be realistic and not expect him to suddenly develop into a 30-goals-a-season player. He had a good season in 2013/14, but he is miles behind the levels Bale reached in the last two seasons.
  19. Styles, this is what I was trying to convey:
  20. If you think I'm saying that Hazard should just shoot whenever he's got the ball, you're quite clearly missing my point so I think we'll end this discussion here.
  21. Absolutely. You can't be a creative player if you're not intelligent and a visionary on the pitch. But intelligence and decision-making are two very different things. He's almost an "Arsenal-ised" attacking midfielder - he tries to play one too many passes when really he could be taking a shot on himself. You don't become one of the world's best forwards by setting up goals. Ask Lionel or Cristiano.
