I'm sick of these comments keep coming up when we are linked to a right back. Bosingwa played somewhere between 30-40 games last season I believe, and that is supposed to be our backup right back. A very possible scenario next season could see Terry suspended for the racism issue for 8-10 games or maybe more. All it takes then is one injury and we'll need Ivanovic for centre back. Can you seriously justify risking an 18 year old in what is likely to be around half the games during a season. With Bosingwa gone, the club needs a quality right back to challenge Ivanovic. End of.

Yeah I just can't see Mata leaving us for a long time. Firstly he doesn't seem to be the type who would kick up a fuss if we rejected a bid from another club for him. Also he has already commented this season that he loves English football because of the competition. He was fed up with playing in Spain and the stranglehold Madrid and Barca have, basically implying it boring. And he loves London. For me this is a huge advantage that we have with keeping our foreign players.

As we found with AVB, studying text books and gaining coaching badges does not IMO beat experience whether thats playing or coaching. Robbie played with desailly and obviously then could see how good he was at marshalling the back line and his wealth of experience. Terry has always stated what a massive influence he had on his own game. Put simple when you've got it, you've got it!

Agreed. He wouldn't have moved to an english club but would have hated playing against him next season lined up for juventus or real madrid or someone. Also cannot argue with him moving there for a last big payday given his charity commitments. Real, real class act and Chelsea legend!

Chelsea Squad Status: 2012/13 Season
Superblue replied to The Skipper's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Don't think Arsenal are taking up the option. He'll likely move abroad, somewhere like Russia for a couple mill. Nice to see a couple of foreign spots available which will hopefully be taken up with some serious talent come the start of the season. I think with the addition of three or four, which looks likely, our squad will be back to looking very strong and on a par with the likes of City and United. A league title assault next season me thinks! -
I actually see Guardiola prefering the Bayern job to the Chelsea one too. He's also been heavily linked with the Shakhtar job a week or two back. Even if we do want him it's certainly not a given that he'll want to come here. Certainly considering that the Arsenal and Man Utd jobs are likely to become available within the next couple of seasons when Fergie retires and Arsenal still haven't won anything! I hope Robbie can prove to be OUR answer to Guardiola, and I'm quietly confident he can be a big success here in the long haul.

Don't agree with this. I had a keen eye on Moses last season purely because I had him in my dream team for nearly the entire season. At the beginning of the season, his consistency was an issue. I put this down to him getting used to playing week in week out. Remember also that he was brought into the team to replace what was the season before their one standout player in N'Zogbia. Throughout the season, I noticed when watching him that his build up play was generally excellent. In particular his dribbling and skill on the ball was exceptional. The one thing missing was an end product - he missed lots of chances. The second half of the season he vastly improved this side of his game and this coincided with Wigan's surge in form. In my opinion he needs another season at Wigan before moving to a bigger club. However he has the potential to make that step up and Chelsea could do a lot worse than taking a chance on Moses blossoming, particularly for a price likely to be between £6-8m.

Over the next two seasons, Bertrand should get more and more game time until he is first choice. He should be given this opportunity because having seen him so far for Chelsea he is more than capable of nailing the spot down for many years. What we should be looking at in the next year or two is finding a younger understudy again for Bertrand, like Ryan's been for Ash. We definately do not need a new first choice left back.

I know, it was just my poor sense of humour!

I agree mate...those sunglasses are fucking massive Happy Birthday Frank, have no doubts in my mind he will go down as Chelsea's greatest ever player when he finally retires. Hopefully though that won't be for a few years and he can 'do a Giggs' for us!
-
It will be interesting to see how Man City, a club with a solid recent history of bringing through academy players will bring players through with all the money, top talent, and massive expectations. By 'other teams' only Man Utd have been at the same level as us over the last few seasons. They have an academy established over a number of years and a manager who's job is iron clad and can blood youngsters with less pressure involved. Over the last couple of seasons they have only brought through Welbeck consistently, and Cleverley on the fringes. Both have been out on loan and enjoyed successful loan spells, much like Sturridge experienced. Have faith and patience mate.

If we're looking at a utility attacking option, I would much rather we continue our push for Moses who can probably be purchased for between 1/3 - 1/4 of the price it would cost to buy Ben Arfa.
-
The overage in the GB squad is bellamy, giggs and beckham apparently. Its only with GB, mata has been given clearance by chelsea to play in the olympics, as has david luiz.
-
The hardest thing to do is to win it a first time.

Any announcements/news on Eddie Newton yet?

17 goals is perfectly 'gettable'. I very much see Lampard now he plays a deeper role, playing for Chelsea for the next 3-4 seasons like Scholes and Giggs. Obviously season upon season his gametime will diminish, but he still probably has at least another 100 games in him for Chelsea. I think every Chelsea fan is willing him on to break the record!
-
In this regard the Hulk deal won't be as important to tie up early because the player is likely to be playing in the Olympics anyway (not sure if this has been confirmed yet). In fact our squad could be ravaged by the stupid fucking Olympics.
-
Yeah the overpricing of talent in english clubs is ridiculous but i think if we're serious we can force through a move for about £6-8m. I actually like that we've started looking at homegrown players nearing the end of their contracts because you don't have to pay through the nose. Cahill was expensive considering he only had 6 months on his contract but when taken out of context £7m is fucking great value. This lad, given time, could develop into a very good player and so for the price he might be worth the punt.
-
Who's to say we're not going to buy both? Nothing can be taken for granted this transfer window - i love it!
-
FM next season with torres, hazard, mata and hulk
-
£4m was never going to be accepted but I'm glad to see us being a lot tougher in transfer negotiations. And Moses would be an Emenalo signing. He's nigerian too and a big fan of moses apparently.

As we say to the bin dippers, history means fuck all if you didn't witness it personally and experience the emotions of that win at the time. So how many of them were you watching and supporting through?
-
I get it from your left side - marcelo and coentrao are rampaging full backs, both looking good going forward but both dogshit at defending. We had mourinho here four years so i know full well how he works and you are much more solid now. However you play inverted wingers and need overlapping full backs to join in and attack the wide space. IMO you'll get someone who can add that to your game as your right side isn't half as potent as the left.

Champions League Final 2012 - Chelsea 1 (4)-(3) 1 Bayern Munich

The season review DVD is a fucking disgrace! A lot of the cup finals have been released on DVD, I fully expect this one too.
