We are 6th on 26 points after spending 200m on top quality players. 7 wins 5 draws 4 losses. Looks ok until you realise Villa and United have played less games than us and are above us. Tottenham, Man City and Southampton have played less games than us and will likely leapfrog us by the time they catch up. This is the tipping point of the season, for me he has to go and soon if we want to get any chance of making top 4 yet alone pushing for an improvement on last seasons position. If it were any other manager and it would not be acceptable to be outside top 4 with these group of players and to also be sitting wondering how are we going to score goals or create chances.
-
Hopefully Lampards last game. Piss poor. Dont believe we will finish top 4 with him at all.

More to management than purely recruiting well. Having good players is all well and good but if your team plays predictable football which is orientated around your fullbacks crossing and nothing else, you will come unstuck, I dont care if the name is Frank Lampard, Sir Alex Ferguson or Pep Guardiola. Even more so with quality players such as Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner, Havertz which we have. The last 2 who look an absolute shadow of the players they were last season in his system. Not completely sold on Tuchel, decent manager but stubborn and abrasive if he doesn’t get his own way. Left Mainz on bad terms. Sackes from Dortmund after being on bad terms with key figures at the club and now has left PSG on bad terms after taking shots at Leonardo.
-
His failure to adapt his tactics and abrasive nature would be a disaster here. Worse than Conte was. He’s an decent coach yes and ok he won in France, he reached a CL final but a team with Mbappe, Di Maria, Neymar, Icardi, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos... that sort of calibre, that should be the expectation every season. Not celebrated as if it was a major achievement.
-
Was same last season with Mason and Tammy when they were playing poorly and it only led to folk on here slaughtering them to the death despite the fact they’d probably played about 17 games in a row.
-
Try tell that to Leeds, Man City, Liverpool, Bayern and countless other teams around Europe who press well. We pressed much much better under Sarri. And you could see what we were trying to do with the ball. Now we are very much a if the fullbacks cant do anything we are fucked side. Pressing is coached. Nothing to do with the players being good at it or not. Look at Aguero at City when Pep came in, considered lazy but a world class player. Look at the difference in him now over last few seasons without the ball. Sterling too. Also whoever posted Allegri did shit at Milan but they want Simeone here? Please. Allegri every day of the week. Simeone good coach no doubt but the squads not mentally tough enough for someone like him.

Come on man its no coincidence he misses a penalty and the get out shit starts 🤣 its a typical knee jerk reaction because of a penalty and its very embarrassing. If you cant see that then I don’t know. Nobody had posted anything in this thread between the West Ham game which was the Monday and the 17th of November. Which further backs my point because he didnt play in many of the games in between. It is an embarrassing overreaction because of a penalty miss in which there were easily 7/8 players who I would think people should be going off on their threads and commenting regarding their performances or whatever. But here we are.
-
Rarely changes a game when he comes on, lets be honest if your going to tag him with that today especially, that is lazy and is precisely what I am on about in the above comment, instead of people mentioning the guys who started and were horrendous/have been the last month or so, they will come back to player X who isn’t a regular started in all realism isnt good enough. If he played every week I would get it but he doesn’t. If you were expecting anyone in our squad to change that game today you must of been dreaming. We gifted that to Arsenal and you could tell after the first 5-10 minutes how it would pan out. I am wondering if we are ever going to see Werner or Havertz score a goal in the upcoming games. Am actually wondering if Havertz will even be back starting at this rate. Yet people are more concerned because Jorginho who played 45 minutes missed a penalty....
-
Probably here saying he played shit. If someone plays shit they play shit. But we played Arsenal tonight not West Ham? Just a bit ironic if he never took the penalty or even if he scored it, those get out comments wouldn’t be mentioned... its funny though he played 45 minutes and only had one memorable involvement in the game with the pen but his all round performance was definitely better than Kante’s and Kovacic’s in MF and better than most. Yet I dont see much in Reece’s thread, Ben’s thread, Mateo’s thread, Timo’s thread.... all who were piss poor tonight. Not much mention. The get out comments in a season where he’s largely been out of the side as well? It is very embarrassing if I am honest 😂
-
Would say I am surprised by this thread but I am not. Yes he missed a penalty but when he came on he was better than Mateo by a country mile. Wasnt difficult but it’s embarrassing saying ‘get him out’ etc because he missed a penalty in a game where we were shocking 😂
-
You’d think he was a championship manager reading this. His style may not be the most attractive but even then its hardly that bad. The one thing that is never mentioned regarding Allegri is his tactical flexibility. Juventus played 352 under Conte for 3 seasons after a brief go with 442. Under Allegri they played 352, 433, 442, 4231. He lost guys such as Vidal, Pogba, Pirlo and rebuilt their team with some very good players. I suppose the younger and talented players he had during his tenure at Juve such as Dybala, Pogba, Kean, Coman, Morata, Bentancur, all struggled under him and he limited them as players?? Behave.
-
Honestly, Klopp said we were title contenders basically and since then we have crumbled. Not purely just on Frank’s head but with a much better squad than last season and new players such as Thiago Silva, Werner and Havertz to be this bad and miles off it. Its bad. If hes still in charge next season I would be surprised.
-
Wow. Embarrassing. Relegation candidates strolling it.
-
If we don’t beat these hopeless cunts, players need a long hard look at themselves. They are one of the most out of form teams in Europe never mind the PL. I get it wont be as simple as show up and just win but surely to fuck we must go out and get a result here. Not winning here right now would be the equivalent of losing to like a relegation candidate side and thats not even a joke they are so poor just now.
-
Agree with everything bar Werner, he’s had plenty of chances even playing from the left. Its been poor finishing as opposed to his positioning some times. He had the chance v West Ham from Pulisic hits it straight at Fabianski which for me a player of his quality should be scoring, the one he hits the bar again okay maybe unlucky but again you’d expect him to score 9/10 times because of his quality and that shouldn’t even be debated. Hes also missed big chances a player of his quality should do much better with against v West Brom, Newcastle, Rennes, Liverpool and Leeds off the top of my head this season. Unfortunately he has always had a big amount of big chances missed throughout his career but as he has progressed from the 2nd Bundesliga to Bundesliga to the PL and his time as an international player for Germany you’d expect that to improve because the higher the level you play the higher the stakes and the less likely you are to get big numbers of chances. I do agree as a CF he maybe will score more goals or get better chances but he’s still had huge chances playing off the left and missed them and this is becoming a recurring theme. You would be lying if you said it was purely positioning as to why hes not playing well or scoring goals. I know he’s not a out and out winger but hes still playing poorly and missing chances a player of his calibre should be scoring.
-
Not just that. Its the criticism these guys got who were undoubtedly top/very good players for years on end and maybe had the odd poor period when they started slowing down although people clearly thought they could be a top player all their career and never slow down (or at least hold them to that standard). Guys like Malouda, Ivanovic, Cahill (he is in there for me what he did for us for a £7m player from Bolton was excellent), as well as the obvious ones such as Terry, Drogba, Lampard, Cole, Cech throughout their spells here. Even then others, who werent as good but still decent players like Mikel and Kalou, guys who weren’t ever gonna be on the same level or even half the level as some of these others guys but guys who were good servants and solid players who gave a lot, instantly dismissed and undervalued, despite respectable numbers of trophies and the big big matches they started in. What some of these guys did will never be beaten. Re Drogba: I dont think people will ever understand how good Drogba was though, like he is a PL all time great. Obviously football has moved on from his style of CF but if you didnt get to see him on the flesh or at the time on sky etc when he played youll never appreciate him as a player.
-
Quite a poor performance again I thought. Without Pulisic and Mount we would have struggled. Werner although playing on the left still has to do much much better. £52m. Need much more. Cant say that the few chances he had tonight and in other games that were missed were due to his positioning, just poor finishing. For all the money spent this summer we still haven’t progressed hugely imo. Well not exaclty true, we have defensively but offensively, its not good, its been disappointing. Ok missing Ziyech is big but Havertz has been a dud so far really, Werner has been pretty bad last while, Pulisic has barely been fit to play every week.
-
Cant believe he’s even passed that to Ronaldo first and foremost. Just stick it in the fucking net. You play for Juventus not Ronaldo. Embarrassing.
-
You’d hope not but again the performance last night the players looked behind the manager and you’d think if they could keep doing that doing games they'd get more results. They are in a even worse position than I thought, I didnt realise at the time they only had 1 win.
-
Crazy. I get results are poor there but if their idea is ok to keep your job you need to beat Man City, that is incredibly harsh. You would of thought after that performance and the next game being Villa theyd have gave him that game. Big Sam fs how does that dinosaur keep getting a job.
-
I know it seems unrealistic but I would like to see us play Werner and Giroud upfront together. Be it in a 352 or 442. I think Werner is struggling out wide but right now we have most of our wingers out but lots of CMs so I dont think 352 would be a huge risk. It would let him play closer to goal and be able to run in behind more. Probably wont happen. But hey.
-
Fullbacks decent offensively but poor defensively tonight. 100%. James and Chilwell constantly caught out of position on the break. Both embarrassing for the first goal also. Mendy perhaps does better on first goal? But the two fullbacks have to stay on their feet. Zouma has to do much better for last goal, 95th minute, show him down the line, he wants inside. For an experienced player, was poor. Offensively poor also, Havertz very very anonymous again. Werner also struggling. Ziyech is a huge miss. Pulisic good first half but tired out inevitably second half.
-
The change of shape helped a bit but still seen enough to know this team isn’t complete. Even more so after Everton and the game tonight. Even then regardless those games were poor performances. Yes the second one. I know it was a dead rubber, for sure but you going to say that team couldnt have played better? That those players arent good enough to beat them? Irrelevant mentioning Bayern, they are European Champions, we are not at that level. Villarreal and Real (struggling just now) maybe not the greatest opposition but still over 2 games in knockout competition, Atletico are very dangerous imo. Particularly more so after watching the Everton and Wolves games (on top of some of the earlier games this season) we have just lost and not only just lost but probably quite deservedly so. I have no doubts Atletico are better sides than both quite comfortably and will definite play in a similar manner also. Also if our game plan is still gonna be giving it to Chilwell or James and letting them cross it Atletico will eat that up all day, if theres one thing they know how to do well it is defend from crosses. I didnt say they were unbeatable, I said dangerous and they will be wanting to play a team like us rather than some of the others they could have got because we are still a work in progress, with faults and not completely settled.
-
Big let off. We have been rotten second half. I said after CL draw we still had inconsistencies and mistakes in us. Some people said maybe last year we did. In terms of creativity the performance has been on par with most of last seasons in second half of the season. If Chilwell or James dont cross or Pulisic doesnt dribble, we havent made chances.
