I totally agree. At Daniel's age, Thierry Henry was a winger, he later started playing as a striker and became the best in the world in his time, so you never know how well Daniel will fair on the right wing.

I don't think Meireles will start, AVB will probably have him come in as a sub at the 60min mark or something like he did with Mata. But I do hope Mata starts....I'm going to have a nervous break down if I see Malouda in the starting 11 instead of him!

Now that we have a descent winger for the first time for over six years, I wonder if it would be worth it trying to go back to Mourinho's 4-5-1 and see if Sturridge works on the right wing and a lone striker. It would create a defensively strong side and wouldn't need the CMs to go forward too much, (some thing they-meaning Ramires and Lamps-don't seem to do well this season)

I can't help not see the similarities between him and Joey Barton: CM good going forward, has excellent technique in long range shooting and will always get in a fight when in doubt. But Joey was free....I'm just sayin'

I agree. I meant statistically. But tactically his short side-ways passing is very important to setting the tempo and breaking down enemy defenses.

Where do I start? Piazon is 17 yo and will probably be loaned out in jan and won't get a single appearance in a chelsea shirt for at least for a year. Mikel is our best passer, one of our more consistent players, and the player that sets our tempo. If you know football you've got to realize that imo. Mata is a winger he can play with Lampard and so can McCheacran. Kalou, just look around the forum I'm sure you'll find at least 10 threads on the topic....join the club. I don't mean to be harsh, especially that you're new here...It's just that I don't agree.

Our lack of creativity and quick tempo in the middle since he and deco left suggests otherwise.

Totally different type of players. Welbeck will probably get a few goals this season, Lukaku has the potential in my opinion to become one of the best strikers in the EPL.

I hope he decides to retire internationally. He'll get less injuries and have more time to focus on winning Chelsea the League.

I think everyone is being influenced by a couple of under performances. If we win 5-0 at the stadium of light every one would be sure that we'd win the Premiere league and the CL as well. These first few games rarely mean anything.This time of the season last year every one was saying that chelsea would win the tittle by march! Fact is we don't have the strongest squad, but that didn't stop manchester last year (for example). We have as much chance of winning the EPL as the manchesters. The season is still young and NO ONE can predict with certainty anything yet.

I agree, we could really use some German mentality in the squad. Gotze and André Schürrle are the future. It's not just because I'm a huge fan of German football, but their ability to win regardless is astounding.
