I hope you're right. I think in theory the two can make a fantastic pivot. Very solid defensively, and strong physically. Both can pass with great accuracy and both rarely if ever lose the ball. Let's hope that reality complies with theory.

I think the point of getting Matic was that Jose wants a dynamic pivot for his pressing system. So I think that the starting pivot players will be Ramirs and Matic. That said, I think Mikel will continue to play the role he's played since the start of the season.

Jose just has to have a back up in mind. I'm not sure Shaw will leave in mid-season although with the problems in the Southampton board, anything is possible. For some reason, I feel that Coentrao will be the replacement. He loves Jose and is looking for a loan till the end of the season.

McEachran instead of Essien? No that's very unlikely. I think if Essien's leaving and we do not wish to replace him (supposing that Matic has replaced KDB) then we would not need another HG player. We simply don't use the full HG quota. I might be mistaken, though.

I think and hope that Jose has something lined up to replace Ryan. I can't imagine he would be okay with leaving us this thin at the back. Maybe Coentrao on loan till the end of the season?

Frank's wages are the issue, imo. It's not that he can't do a job for the team anymore when needed, it's that MVG, for example, can do the same or better job for less than half the wages. Frank is a legend, perhaps the biggest legend of the club, but the coming year is crucial for us in complying with the FPP and 6.5m/year is A LOT to save.

I think his price (not that I'd want him to be sold either) won't exceed 30m. United overpaid grossly for De Gea, he's not the norm but the exception.

Tbf, goalkeepers rarely go for more than that. In fact, I don't remember any keeper ever going for 25m of more.
