There aren't many available, though, are there? I thought that Liverpool signing Lovern was again a lack of ambition in their signings, but when you think about it, there aren't many top home grown CBs at their peak. Jaagielka? Very similar to Cahill. Lesscot I never found very convincing either. Am I missing an obvious one?

He would be an excellent signing if, like TOPTB said, we didn't already have 4 very similar players. We already have one or two too many young CBs.

My main issue with his crosses is that he usually doesn't aim at anyone in particular. In fact, almost always, he usually has his eyes on the ground on the ball when crossing and not on who is in the box. It's an issue of technique. But last night he was actually getting getting his head up and picking people out. Was it only because he was not pressured and in loads of space last night or is this something he has been working on? I really hope it's the latter.

That's a very valuable lesson he needs to learn. He can't say bad words....unless it is about scumpool and slippy G!

He was excellent going forward in the first half! He took his time on crosses and actually picked out a target and aimed at it. Was crucial to our attack since Azpi did absolutely nothing on the left wing going forward.

Game was over after 33 mins. But excellent first half performance and the second half showed we're still not 100% fit. Can't look past Cesc for MOTM even though Iva was unusually excellent in attack in the first half. A bit disappointed by JT, tbh. Made a few uncharacteristic mistakes.

I'm very happy that he's coming into the team with general support and acceptance of the decision from the fans. Yesterday, Petr was asked about his debut for us and he said he remembered everyone chanting "Carlo, Carlo" and that no one wanted him in the team. That must have added immense pressure. I'm glad Thibaut has strong support from the fans already.
