Yeah, people would have been delighted with 10m in the summer, but only because the memory of a football fan is about the same of a gold fish. I honestly don't think Ryan has showed anything at Soton that we did not know he was capable of. The general consensus by Chelsea fans in the first few months of last season was that him and Azpi ought to be our starting fullbacks. It hasn't just been "a few decent performances", he's been a key player for them. He deserves the praise he is getting and more.

Yeah, that was the fee agreed on from the summer. I honestly think Saints got the better of that deal.

I like his family-like personal relations with the players. His message for Salah on Instagram was so sweet.

Loan only till the end of the season and not for 18 months. He needed it as he was clearly not making much progress here. His Chelsea career is not yet dead. Fiorentina are a good team and if he can shine there he'll have a decent chance of returning here, even if he does end up being loaned there again next season. He's still very young, he has got time.

Even though I'm convinced that this is probably in his best interest, I'm still sad to see him go. He's a hard working guy who always gives his best and rarely put a foot in wrong in all of his time here. Very consistent player even if rarely outstanding. His attitude has always been top notch. How many loans did he go on to lower divisions while patiently waiting for his chance even though everyone rated PVA more than him? Unfortunately, Jose was not willing to give him a real chance. Not last season when Ash went out of favor and Jose decided to try a RB instead of him nor this season where we paid A LOT of money for an experienced backup instead of having him. To me, he'll always be one of the eleven heroes that started in Munich. Thanks for everything, Ryan. I genuinely wish to see many more achievements in your future.

Well, he was the first Colombian player to sign a professional contract with Chelsea which technically makes him the first ever Colombian Chelsea player. Yeah, it seems he did return from Bastia last month. Why we're loaning out a 17yo is beyond me, though.

Well, he hasn't yet "played" technically. He would be if/when he does play for us. However he is NOT the first Colombian player to ever sign for Chelsea as that would be the currently on loan Joao Rodriguez.

Don't at all expect us to make another signing. Salah barely played and we have plenty of cover for attacking midfield positions as both Ramires and Remy can play on the right wing and Cesc can play 10. I am however a bit worried about lack of cover for Hazard's position....not that we ever seem to rest him anyway.

It annoys me because it promotes the advertisement of players over the whole club and individualism over team spirit. Because it should be "just a number" it annoys me that the club allows players to pick such unconventional numbers that allows them to stick out. Another effect of football turning into a money oriented business....but that does not hang on this case so it's not that important. Was just making an observation about the principle.

74 is stupid, but you can't blame him if the club allows it. More importantly, congrats and best of luck to him. Hope he can find the consistency that Schurrle could not and that can cement him in the first team.

He's made more than 10 PL appearances (14) but I remember reading that that rule has changed.

Always gave everything and scored some very important goals and had some incredible performances for us. Thanks for everything Andre and best of luck in your future.

I've always had a soft spot for Huth ever since he was ours. He always seems like an incredibly fun guy and even though he was never really Chelsea material, he's still a good tough no-nonsense traditional defender.
