  1. Former England captain Alan Shearer believes the type of training ground disagreement had between John Terry and Henk ten Cate is an everyday occurrence at most professional football club's. Shearer believes scrapes between players and staff are part-and-parcel of the game and the latest incident at Cobham is nothing to be concerned about. "It happens week-in week-out at every football club," Shearer told Sky Sports News. "I think it's all blown up more now than it ever has been. Confrontation "You have scraps, you have arguments, if you go along to a training ground everyday of the week you will find one somewhere." The former Newcastle striker believes such confrontation is to be expected when strong and passionate characters such as ten Cate and Terry work together on a daily basis. "I'm not surprised at all, " said Shearer. "What you have is people trying to give their opinions and in the heat of the moment they get taken out of context - I wouldn't worry about that at all. "I only know John Terry and I know him as a great captain and a great football player who cares very much about his team, and I think that's probably been the crossed wires. "I think every football club has to have a bit of that in it. "I think Alex Ferguson has had a bit of that http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11668_3204877,00.html
  2. Add to that a striker in a 3 strike force and a winger too and if possible a supporting striker.
  3. I am glad they are back on talking terms. I hope Roman realises his mistake!! I said before..its the case of "TOO MANY COOKS SPOILING THE BROTH"....We need one good manager who does everything, plans the training session, manages the team, gives the talks, etc etc. I hope Roman does something. However he may be, I am glad we have an owner like Roman, who wants to bring glory to the club. Unlike those Yanks of Liverpool.....One mistake from Roman and I hope he has realised it....Time to make amends.
  4. unfortunately its true!!! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_3202832,00.html Henk ten Cate admits he experienced an 'F-word' row with Chelsea captain John Terry prior to the Carling Cup final. The Dutch coach, who joined Chelsea manager Avram Grant's backroom staff in October after leaving Ajax, has confirmed reports he endured a training ground bust-up with Terry. Ten Cate confesses that he and Terry had a difference of opinion regarding the 'intensity' of a Blues training session in the build-up to Sunday's 2-1 Wembley defeat to Tottenham. The defeat has heaped pressure on Chelsea's managerial staff and Ten Cate's confirmation of the dispute with club skipper Terry will not help the cause. Emotion However, Ten Cate insists the falling out will have no lasting impact and that he and Terry 'get on well'. "We are both kind of emotional, but we respect each other fully," Ten Cate told The Sun. "We just had a discussion about the intensity of the training session. That's a normal part of the game. There have been a few F-words, no doubt. But that's common in England." Grant's team selection policy at the weekend has been questioned after Chelsea stars Joe Cole and Michael Ballack began the game on the bench. Special tension And Ten Cate has confirmed that there was a tension in the Blues' camp before the final. "There was a special tension on Saturday," Ten Cate is quoted as saying on Dutch newspaper AD's website. "We have 27 players and three keepers but only a few of them could play. "John wanted to have even more intensity in training but I didn't agree as we were just one day before the match. That was all. Me and John get on well. John won't disagree."
  5. Your first part is utter Bollocks.!!!....Again you want to play him out of position hoping that he is Anelka and can do just about anything on the field. I for one would stick to 4-3-3 rather than try different formations and try to accomodate players for their namesake specially now when we are entering the most important part of the season. I agree with your second part. Keep a fixed team train them the whole week to play with each other for the weekend match.
  6. If Olympiakos score a goal....We'll be shitting in our pants. When was the last time we scored 2 goals in a game?
  7. WTF...The Sun published a Bust up between Jose and Joe Cole too...FUCKING TWATS!!
  8. You must be happy you have more supporters on your side now.
  9. Huh, Spurs won with a dubious penalty and a lucky goal. Big shit!!!...a month back we beat them left right and left at Bridge. This isnt the first time an average mid table team has won the Cup. And yes...Big 4 will be broken, but the one that would be binned out would be Liverpool not us. Dont know why there is such a hue and cry after Chelsea were beaten by two lucky goals. Move on you guys.
  10. Ballack played behind the 2 strikers in the World Cup and NOT as a defensive Midfielder. He is a Box to Box midfielder just like Lamps. But yeah, he did play as defensive midfielder for Bayern Munchen
  11. There you go buddy....AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN you KEEP CHOPPING AND CHANGING to Accomodate your Stars.
  12. http://www.talkchelsea.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1201 Go through the posts and then tell me how many were fine with 4-3-3 with Anelka playing on left. Again, ANELKA IS A TARGET MAN. HE NEVER PLAYED AS A SUPPORTING STRIKER. For God's sake, you again want him to play out of position. And how could you expect the manager to change the formation from 4-3-3 which we played with since September to 4-4-2 all of a sudden for a final just to accomodate our Stars. It seems like their arrival has jinxed our performances.
  13. Also, Joe, If you see the threads in previous weeks, you'll find most fans wanting Grant to play Anelka on left of 4-3-3 with Drogs in centre. Some Fans even went to the extent of Changing to 4-2-2 formation ALL OF A SUDDEN IN A CUP FINAL to accomodate players. IM GLAD GRANT DINT CHANGE THE FORMATION. But he did play Anelka out of position, as Fans wanted. And when he failed...The same fans go for his head.... As far as I am concerned, HE SHOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED THE TEAM THAT WON 9 matches in a row to accomodate favourite Chelsea players. BALLACK AND JOE COLE BEHCNED....HOLY SHIT!!!!....I COULDNT BELEIVE HE ACTUALLY BENCHED THE TWO MOST INFORM PLAYERS FOR THE FINALS And yes...BALLACK IS ANYTIME A BETTER FREE KICK TAKER THAN LAMPS AND DROGBA!!!!
  14. I know its not the Blue Lion who made the selection, but we had a small argument over introducing Lamps and Terry the other day. Now, The Formation is fine. But rotating the players is not fine. You play with 4-3-3 for the most of the season, with same set of players as we have had pver last several years. The players get acustomed to playing with each other. But when you start rotating the players, you find your self playing along side new set of players in new positions. Hence as we saw...the Passing was FucKALL......We CANNOT SEEM TO PRODUCE A GOAL FROM AN OPEN PLAY!!!.....
  15. How do you see this? From mid December to February First week. We have been playing with more or less the same starting 11 with Ballack in midfield playing so well, Makalele the Holding Midfielder, Joe Cole and Malouda on wings And the best part of it all was SWP in the Central Midfield. With this combination, we won 9 matches in a row. Then comes the arrival of our injured players, African players...and what do we do? Introduce these players in the 11. Thus breaking the team dynamics of the one tht went on a winning streak for 9 matches. Our performances have hit ROCK BOTTAM since the arrival of these players. Grant is Rotating the players, and it definately affects the Team Dynamics. A Squad of 11 fit players in every match is the best way to go by, but Grant is trying to introduce all of his players in different matches. People like Blue Lion and others wanted Lampard and Terry in the TEAM for Finals. Why? Cus they have been Chelsea servants for years. But When you Break a Team Combination, a Team that is set and used to playing togther, IT DEFINATELY AFFFECTS THE PERFORMANCES. BALLACK WAS Benched inorder to accomodate LAMPARD, ALEX who had had such a wonderful defensive partnership with Carvalho, was benched to accomodate TERRY. And all this done in the FINAL of a cup Game. Anelka made to play on the wings (OUT OF POSITION)...why? cus he is Nicolas Anelka and he has to be in the team, dont care which position. My Biggest Fear is that Grant seems to be introducing the Rotation system. Jose was never a fan of it. I cant imagine he Benched Ballack and Joe Cole the two most inform players over the last 2 months for us to accomodate Lampard and Nicolas Anelka. Again, this Rotation policy has never won trophies for any teams. A team needs to have a core that plays in every important matches. Blue Lion, I told you Team comes first, and not your favourite beloved players. You change the team to accomodate Chelsea favourites, You are always at risk to losing out.
  16. YES. I dont think there is anyother way of gauging your fanbase. Hence I said its an APPROXIMATE figure.
  17. Thats one injury you dont want any player to have. Its worst than the Cisse one. http://youtube.com/watch?v=RpHufZEaFe0
  18. 90 million is an approximate figure which im assuming they come up with based on the merchandise sale globally.
  19. Bingo...The bigger the stadium, the more the seats the lesser the prices of tickets. The smaller the stadium, lesser no. of seats and higher the prices of the tickets.. Its all business you know...
  20. And we arent playing them anyways in the final. We played liverpool, and Frank Lampard put in an amazing performance dint he?. No one can play 90 mins in a match within 2 weeks of starting to play again after 2 months of injury. Terry has had just one match. Managers need to take tough decisions, you cant keep everyone happy. Put yourself in Alex's place...uve played soo many matches, helped your team reach the finals. And your boss tells you, mate you gotta sit out of this cus your captain has just come out of the injury after 2 and half months. IT IS NOT FAIR ON HIM or BALLACK!!!..Ballakc carried the mantle when we had no players to play in the midfield. Team comes first and not the individuals!!...The Fans should understand that. And against the liverpool game, you had your example on what happens when you change the winning combination...You get a Dull game. Grant changed the combination in the last 2 games from what we had when we won 9 games on the trot and all we got was 2 of the most boring matches we played.
  21. And what about the respect to those players that got us through to the final in tough times.? We lost Carlo Cudicini when Cech took his place as Cudicini was injured. Mourinho dint replace Cech with Cudicini again, cus Cech was performaing top class. And mind you..he was the Players choice for Man of the season.
  22. Meir, a holocaust survivor of the Second World War, is Grant's idol and the 52-year-old Israeli has paid for his dad to see their Wembley showdown with Tottenham. Grant knew nothing of his family's fate until one night, aged 15, he heard his father screaming in his sleep and rushed into his room to find that he was having a bad dream. His father explained that he had been dreaming he was back in the Russian forest in which he had been forced to dig graves for his parents and five brothers and sisters as each, in turn, died of cold or starvation. Only he and one brother survived. Now Grant's proudest day as a manager will be cause for a double celebration when Meir attends the game. His presence will be made more poignant by the fact that anti-Semitic threats were sent to Chelsea's training ground while the team lined up against Olympiacos in the Champions League. Grant said: 'My father was 80 years old on Thursday so we are celebrating of course, and he will be at the game. 'I don't know if you know the story of my father but he is a great man, one of the greatest that I know. He is optimistic like I have never seen in my life and he suffered a lot in the age when he was young. 'He was a survivor of the holocaust and I am of the name of my grandfather that died in the holocaust. But what impressed me about him is that he always sees the positive things. 'Even now, he is optimistic. If you speak to him about the past, he says it was in the past but I live the future. He's only 80 years old. I wish him all the best. I love him. 'My father would accept everything in a positive way. Everything that happened in my life, I can only thank them for it. I have bought him his ticket - I think I can afford it!' Meir was 13 when he and his family fled their native Poland in 1941. 'In 1941 we realised things were looking bleak in Poland and decided to take our chances in Russia,' said Meir. 'We were exiled to the far north. Guards dropped us off in a forest and said, `build a home or die'. 'It was minus 40 in winter and in such circumstances, people who are not young stand no chance. 'When I buried my father, I cut off my peyot [sidecurls] and removed my kippah. To survive, you must look forward in hope, never back. 'Avram is similar to me. He gets on with everyone and never argues but knows how to shout if people aren't working the way they should.' Against Tottenham, Grant is struggling with the dilemma of whether to recall captain John Terry and Frank Lampard. Both were left out of the Champions League game against Olympiacos and there is growing speculation they may miss out against Spurs. But Grant admitted he cannot keep all the players happy all the time. 'I don't think it is possible to keep them happy all the time,' Grant said. 'But when you have a big squad, you have problems like this sometimes. I think the players have shown, until now, great attitude from the beginning when it was a very difficult time and I will not forget it. 'I think now when you speak about John Terry and Lampard that they are available to play, I think you need to respect the players that played without them.' http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...479&cc=5901
  23. If we click as we all expect, we will be very dangerous forthe remaining of the season. My club has a lot to play for. We are still in four competitions He doesnt mention "in the future".....I guess this is another hint that he is planning to leave in summer.
  24. Id rather win the EPL than win just the UCL. I wold hate to be compared to Liverfools. EPL is the real deal....its about who coming on top after a season of hardfought matches. UCL needs luck luck and luck. thats why teams like Liverfool and porto have won it in recent times....If given a choice between EPL and UCL..its EPL for me.
  25. That powder could be anthrax. It wouldnt just kill Grant, but would kill everyone around him. Right After 9/11...a Packet was sent to one of the US govt. federal offices. The packet contained a powder. The whole building was evacuated.
