  1. He seems to have a very genial personality, and I hope that can go a long way towards him winning the dressing room (and not making any enemies of course). AVB (and Lampard in his 2nd season) supposedly became very irritable and overbearing towards the ends of their tenures, creating a fractured dressing room. Hope that is not the case with Potter.
  2. Lampard deserves a lot of credit here. He brought in Thiago Silva, and also integrated James and Mount
  3. Nail on the head. We've seen the kind of shite Arsenal, Spurs and United have gone through with the appointment of lesser name coaches., setting those clubs back for years. The fact is we sacked a tried and tested coach after the first few signs of trouble, despite being in a salvageable position. Hopefully Potter has at least the same impact Pochettino had on Spurs, and keeps us in top 4 contention.
  4. The Ronaldo situation is a bit ridiculous if true. An owner pushing a player on a coach who doesn't want him is exactly the sort of thing you don't want to see.
  5. Hmm, maybe..but with Lampards case we were in the midpoint of the season, well outside course for top 4, and it was a matter of sink or swim. There's no way you could guarantee to me that Tuchel would have finished outside of top 4 from this point in the season. We're 5th at the moment, barely 5 games in and with a lot unintegrated signings. To me, going from Tuchel to Potter is an even riskier decision., than just keeping him. Especially at this stage. Nonetheless, hopefully the extra time he is getting with the squad will help, like you said.
  6. Hope all the key players give him a chance. Don't want another fractured dressing room like the Lampard and AVB days. It's probably fractured with Tuchel at the moment anyway, so hopefully it can't get worse. When he starts benching a few big names (which we he will definitely have to at some point), the results also have to be strong if he has to survive.
  7. Hope Potter, if he joins, doesn't turn into another Ragnick or AVB type appointment. Coaches with good reputations as tacticians, but with no experience managing big players.
  8. I will admit though, while the sacking of Tuchel is questionable, the fact that Boehly is approaching Potter first, instead of more 'obvious' options, indicates that he is very observant of the game and not a complete novice like the pundits make him out to be. Either him or whoever is advising him.
  9. Ultimately Tuchel's sacking lies at the feet of the owner. And that's where my argument stems from. Boehly got a lot of leeway this transfer window (rightfully so), because he still hasn't had time to establish a structure. That's why even his seemingly scattergun approach to transfers is forgivable (even if questionable), and he has got a lot of slack from fans. His decision making until this point at least seemed have reasoning behind it, and that's why any questions have been largely brushed aside. That said, I'm seeing a similar level of trust in Boehly even with regards to this decision as well. A decision that seems to have been premeditated upon a long time ago. For me, this decision is questionable. Who knows. Maybe it works out. For the club at least, I hope so.
  10. Tit for tat. I'm not accusing you specifically anywhere in my post., so I'm not sure why you got offended. If my post seemed otherwise to you, I apologize. You said you were surprised about people clamoring for Tuchel., I just flipped that argument and said that I'm surprised about how Boehly gets leeway, instead. There's an obvious connection there. But I guess it's not that obvious to some.
  11. Prime Mourinho had it all. The looks. The personality. The squad. Hoping for the day we get someone like that again.
  12. What would be interesting is if Newcastle appoint Tuchel somewhere down the line. That will throw the Clearlake Saudi PIF connection under more lights.
  13. Really? I'm more surprised at how many people have more loyalty to an owner who just arrived a few months ago, over a manager who was part of the clubs identity for more than a year and part of an upswing of fortunes. Yes, Boehly pulled us out of the fire with his massive investment. But let's be clear. If not Boehly, it would have been someone else. Don't see why fans need to lick his feet. Atm, I'm seeing trigger happy actions similar to what we've seen in Roman's early days, and even he wasn't this trigger happy then. I hope it all turns out for the better, but it is jarring to say the least
  14. Did Roman sack Ranieri as soon as he bought the club?
  15. Are you going to create a new terminator avatar for Todd?
  16. The players would have caught wind that the new ownership doesn't trust Tuchel
  17. Pulisic and Ziyech must be licking their lips waiting to win favor of the new manager.
  18. No disrespect to Graham Potter. His team play some beautiful football at times, punching above their weight to win against big teams, but some managers do well at mid level clubs and fail when making the step up. It's not really about coaching ability, but it's about personality. Managing a bunch of egotistical millionaires is a whole different scenario. There's also the incredible irony that we loaned Colwill, and sold Gilmour to Brighton to be managed by him. Gilmour must be feeling twice fucked by the club.
  19. This to me is a problem. And it's probably what the players sensed too, making them down tools so easily What all of us wanted from the end of last season was some continuity and stability with the new ownership. In the span of months he has tossed out a lot of the admin and now, the manager which was the only piece of identity remaining from the old regime. And he has allowed the club to bring in more B grade signings. Amateurish. Just like his decision to give KK a 4 year deal.
  20. Based on the sound bytes...we're in for a rough ride. The new ownership seems to be so imposing on the manager. Just days after talking charge and already burning bridges. Who would want to coach a team like this. For all the talk about supporting Tuchel, they seem to be hypocrites. No wonder the team chemistry has been poor. It starts from the top.
  21. Fuck. Another amateurish decision. I mean, things were not rosy but this is some scatter gun approach.. If there was a time NOT to remove a failing manager and destroy continuity, this would be it. We have no DOF, and a lot of brand new unintegrated signings and now this. And why?? Losing the first CL group game and 6th place in the PL after less than 10 games played is definitely not an unsalvageable position to be in. And who are we supposed to bring in? Poch?
  22. You say new league. But the brain fart yesterday happened against a Croatian team. Does he need to adjust to that too?
  23. I've been calling for him to be dropped for a few games. He was dropped for West Ham but he's been promptly recalled for the very next game. Tuchel probably thought he would deliver against weaker opposition. Hope he has now woken up and will relegate him to the bench for the next few games. He needs to work his way back to the starting 11, if he's interested. Mount has not looked his usual self at all this season. No idea what's going on, but the team can't afford to take a chance anymore.
  24. If its just 2 or so players not giving 100%, that can be rectified by dropping them and seeing what happens. And that's what I'm suggesting he has to do to at least try turning things around. The problem is, it seems more deep rooted than just a couple of disgruntled players.
