  1. No one can say Sturridge wasn't important to us last season. In the first half of the season he and Mata carried us and he scored big goals against Spurs and Wigan. If he didn't have a terrible second half of the season, then he wouldn't be getting as much hate as he is getting atm.
  2. Sure positioning has something to do with it, but mostly it comes down to the players surrounding the striker. I saw the majority of RVP's goals last season and many of them were down to brilliant play by likes of Song, Walcott, Arteta or even Gervinho. Something our strikers did not have. Lampard was always in and out of team (under AVB) and creativity came from only Mata. Good to see the club striving to change this though, and it should be different next season.
  3. And this also goes back to lack of creativity. How many times did our strikers get free 1 v 1 or easy tap-ins like Rooney and RVP score every week?
  4. Yeah i meant 4-3-2-1. ---------Cech---------- Ivan--Luiz--JT--Cole Ramires-Mikel-Lamps/Oscar ----Mata-----Hazard----- ---------Torres------
  5. If we sign Oscar then it'd be better to go back to a 3 man midfield imo.
  6. One of our main problems was creativity. Even last season with the addition of Mata we still struggled in games he was marked out or didn't play well. Now we've added 2 very creative players in Hazard and Marin, and also hopefully Oscar who can do his creating from a deeper midfield role.
  7. Yes. He's similar to Modric also as he can play either further forward or deeper.
  8. I don't think they even need him. That amount could be better used getting a top CM, or 2 decent one's.
  9. No. I have no problem with getting another top striker, but just not Van Persie. Arsenal would want close to 25m for him and plus his wages, is he really worth it? imo definitely no. He will be 29 next month, only had 1 injury free season in forever and i just don't see anyway he will repeat the heroics he did last season.
  10. FA will almost definitely suspend him. Chelsea could take away his armband.
  11. ^They did this (sort of) analysis on WAGNH a couple months ago. Great stuff. GCA = Game changing assist. GCG = Game changing goal.
  12. Of course, we played close to 60 games or something and he directly affected the result of maybe 7. Clearly not good enough.
  13. I was answering his question, did not intend to prove he played well.
  14. Sunderland (i think) at home, his shot which hit the woodwork and came back out resulted in the winner for Lampard. Just like against Wigan, but this time Mata scored. Wolves away, he played Cole through before he passed to Lampard for the winner. Aston Villa away, he set-up 2 goals before killing the game off in the final minutes. Leicester at home, he scored 2 and set up 2. And i think that's it.
  15. I remember watching this game and he played very well. Brazil played 4-3-3 on the night, so he's indeed capable of playing deeper. Not sure he'd be great in a 2 man midfield though, 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-3 would suit him better i feel.
  16. For Barcelona he scored twice at the Emirates, and last season he totally raped their defence at San siro scoring a pen and assisting 2 other goals.
  17. Do we want to buy every good forward in Europe or what?
  18. I would fucking love this if it happened. Great player, and has 3-4 good years in him. Just has to be for a reasonable fee.
  19. I understand everything but his selfishness. Sure he's trying to prove himself but come on, consistently ignoring open teammates is just down right pathetic.
  20. Of course, because we wouldn't have seen full games of his and how shit he was from January to May
  21. He is, but Kalou got the nod primarily because of defensive duties. He hardly did anything of note going forward, but did a commendable job defensively.
