  1. I’m not even sure Guehi is an obvious upgrade on Trev or Tosin. He’s just a solid CB just like those two are, nothing special. He’s doesn’t have any real upside and isn’t going to be getting better than he is now. Whereas someone like Branthwaite is solid now but should only get better. Much higher ceiling than Guehi. He looks like he can become a physically dominant CB like we need.
  2. In terms of having the squad and the playing style, Arse are very close to being UCL winning quality. It’s all about whether their players have the mentality when it comes to the very biggest, highest pressure matches and whether Arteta is good enough tactically.
  3. Great player but I wouldn’t say superstar. But yes, we see the value of these amazing wide attackers. If we make a statement attacking signing it needs to be someone in those areas like Kvara or Doué. Nico Williams fits the bill.
  4. Elite coach, elite recruitment. Our board will probably feel vindicated in a sense that we’re following a similar model as PSG. Rather than going for ready made superstars you build a team of mega talented young players who will grow together. Whether we have the manager who can extract the most out of our young players is the question.
  5. Benfica were already SUPER annoyed with us for taking Enzo in the way we did. There’s probably no chance they would’ve worked with us in signing their next wonderkid midfielder so soon afterwards.
  6. The real regret, despite how decent of a job Maresca did, was missing out on Enrique who many in the Chelsea fanbase were skeptical about. He has PSG passing and moving in the same patterns as prime Barca within a year with a super young squad just like ours.
  7. Doué was never going to go anywhere else once the biggest team in his home country made a big play for him so no one should feel annoyed that we didn’t get him. As for this match, Inter don’t look like they belong here. They look like a side who massively overachieved and punched way beyond their actual level. They aren’t anywhere close to the very elite. They’re just a good solid team but not a great one.
  8. Even United fans have said that Mainoo took a serious step back this season. And that’s when he was actually fit. The last area of our squad where we even need to think of buying anyone is in the middle of the pitch. Caicedo, Enzo, Lavia, Santos, and Essugo. That’s already too many and I bet anything that Essugo will go on loan. And that’s not even counting KDH, Ugochukwu, and Amougu who’s futures need to be sorted. Buying another midfielder would just be silly.
  9. Jackson as our primary or only striker like this past season is an absolute no go. Jackson as a rotation with Delap is something we could live with. Don’t think we should sell him unless we can get one of the Victor’s in which doesn’t appear on the cards.
  10. Liverpool fans certainly won’t be able to cry about not being able to compete financially ever again. No more of that cringey shit from Carragher and all the other bitter Liverpool media about how they do things “the right way.” They’re about to have a maybe the most lavish transfer window ever for any club.
  11. Don’t know why this Julian Alvarez stuff is even given a second thought. He just moved to Atleti a year ago for nearly 100m. He’s now their best attacker and as a Spanish speaker is probably loving life in Spain. Why on earth would he leave there so soon for one, and why would Atleti even consider selling him? And if they ever did surely it would have to be well north of £100m.
  12. Don’t get me wrong, it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me. It’s just strange. Especially for a guy like Gyokeres who is a massively powerful guy.
  13. Ooof lol Looks like a blooper reel. How does a striker get to this level with such poor heading ability?
  14. Gotta be high wage demands similar to Osimhen, right? What else can explain every too club not immediately going and starting a sweepstakes once the season ended? Or maybe everyone has already been informed that he only wants one particular club and is sitting back and waiting until that deal is sealed?
  15. Yeah, those two make sense. He goes to Liverpool and they may dominate the league like Pep did for a few years so hopefully it’s not there. Barca would be picture perfect for them but as you say who knows if they can make it work financially.
  16. Yeah, and that worked out terribly for him and it felt like he was there for 5 minutes. Don't know if he wants a repeat of that scenario.
  17. If you’re Ekitike, why would you even want to come to Chelsea after seeing us sign Delap and already have Jackson here? It makes little sense from either our perspective or his.
  18. Sesko looks extremely talented and could become great at Arse but I’d actually be pretty relieved if they sign him instead of Gyokeres. Sesko looks to me to be more of a risk whereas Gyokeres feels like he’d seamlessly slot in to a Arse/Chelsea/Liverpool and hit the ground running. If Arse do indeed go for Sesko though I wonder where that leaves Gyokeres in terms of options. The usual big boys Madrid, Barca, and Bayern don’t need a #9. The big Italian sides are usually broke. City have Haaland. Suppose there’s an outside chance United pull a Casemiro/Di Maria/Varane and massively shell out for a superstar when nobody expected it. But that’s exactly what got them into the mess they’re in now. Handing players monster wages.
  19. I think Grealish and Zaha both moved to the wrong teams at the wrong time. I still maintain that both could’ve been big successes in different situations. Mbuemo is 25 now so I think he’d transition well to a bigger club. He’s not a kid anymore who would have the weight and expectation of having to be a superstar like those players were.
  20. What do you guys think of going for Mbuemo? Much like Delapmhes got that perfect combo of pace and power and is a total bitch to play against as we’ve seen firsthand several times. He’s most effective on the right hand side as well so can easily play together with Delap/Jackson and with Palmer feeding him. I’d take him in a heartbeat. Goals, creativity, pace, power, PL proven, and available for a decent price.
  21. Good to see that the club mean business just like Liverpool and have gone out and attacked their main targets basically the moment the season ended. If they go out and address our other couple of weaknesses quickly then we should be in one hell of a position come the start of next season. As for those wide attacker links, I genuinely would rather keep Sancho for £25m than going and spending £40-50m or whatever Dortmund want for Gittens. I really think he’d flop here. At least with Sancho he knows the club and knows the league well. Nico Williams or Morgan Rogers for me. Rodrygo is a fantasy and never happening.
  22. Doesn’t make sense unless Jackson is sold. And with Maresca and the club hierarchy in love with Jackson enough to say “I’d love a clone of Nico Jackson” and hand him a o year contract, there’s not a chance in hell we sell him. Signing just Delap is already risky because he’s not the finished product. Signing Delap AND Ekitike who is also a development project would be silly.
  23. I guess I mean attacking player in general. Doesn’t have to be another traditional striker. Still definitely think we need additional attacker after Delap who can score and create goals at a decent clip to replace Nkunku/Sancho. I”d be delighted with Morgan Rogers.
  24. Good signing and a bit of a no brainer at just £30m. But can’t help but feel underwhelmed if he’s our one and only forward signing considering the other names available.
  25. Maybe next summer but I’d be shocked if Madueke goes this window. Knowing our board they’ll set a valuation so silly that nobody will be interested like we did with putting a £70m asking price on Nkunku.
