Over and over these jokers are willing to pay silly money for unproven teenagers but when it comes to ready made, plug and play veterans we have to haggle and lowball. Won’t pay up for Osimhen, Gyokeres, Nico Williams, etc but are perfectly happy spending tens of millions on 60 different teenagers who may never play a minute for Chelsea.
-
City and Liverpool who will be the main contenders for the title and are already stronger than us are out here splashing crazy money on great player after great player whilst we’re over here haggling over a small fee for a top keeper which we desperately need. Good lord… A dramatic upgrade on our keepers just falls into your lap for around £25m, he reportedly fancies joining you, and you try to lowball Milan on an already cheap price? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Fabrizio has apparently reiterated that we’re currently negotiating for Gittens. Guess we should prepare ourselves for this to happen, then. Infinitely better than splashing any kind of money on bloody Garnacho but still super underwhelming. Just have to hope that we snag ourselves another Palmer and not another Madueke/Mudryk. His dribbling and aggression in the highlights I’ve watched look great but that’s what I thought of Mudryk when we bought him. Then in the PL he looked like a terrified child.

Where’s our Delap announcement, Chels? 😅
-
From what I’m seeing reading around about Maignan is that he doesn’t make silly, catastrophic errors despite being known as a great ball playing keeper. That alone means he’d be a massive upgrade on Sánchez.
-
Could Maignan be one of those transfer sagas that comes out of nowhere and is sewn up in no time? Didn’t Pedro Neto happen like that last summer?
-
Went from obsessed with Brighton to obsessed with City academy graduates who couldn’t make their first team. Need to go for Morgan Rogers now a complete the set.
-
So Matt Law says in that article that the club still view Jackson as an out and out striker and not as a potential option out wide like some have suggested. If that is indeed the case then Ekitike make even less sense. Just go all out on a top wide player with that money, ffs.
-
Wonder why we aren’t looking at Emi Martinez if we want an expericend top keeper who is apparently available.
-
I’d have been over the moon with us going for Maignan a year or two ago. But from everything I’ve read he has taken a big step back recently. Guess the biggest shock though is that we may indeed be after a new keeper which is the last thing I expected.
-
I’d take Mbeumo a million times over Gittens or Garnacho.
-
I was fine with Sancho staying or going. But fuck sake, if we actually sign Gittens for £50m to replace him. A 15th placed, broke, club in absolute shambles Man United are going to have more ambitious targets than us after finishing in the UCL and winning a trophy. 🤦♂️
-
Have to agree unless we were to sign Nico Williams which looks highly unlikely. Think Mbuemo is going to thrive in all the games against the other big teams for United where you would assume they’ll have less of the ball and he can use his pace and aggression on counter attacks just like at Brentford. I wasn’t personally bothered whatsoever about them splashing on Cunha who is a good player. But Mbuemo I think will pretty scary if Amorim and their recruitment can nail this rebuild.
-
For sure there would be some of our fans underwhelmed if we signed him but not me. It’s not even mostly about his goals for me but about his playing style and mentality. He’s an animal on the pitch.
-
If they get a proper striker like Gyokeres then they’ll have a genuinely great attack. For a club that finished 15th and were a total embarrassment. Biggest thing they’re still missing though is a decent central midfield. They need a total rebuild in there. Unfortunately, it appears like United SHOULD take a big step forward next season instead of continuing to be a laughingstock like I had hoped. Having no European football and 1 game per week to focus on most of the season should massively help them fright for 4th.
-
Mbuemo to United, then. That’ll be an annoyingly good signing.
-
As others in here have mentioned, it’s probably never a good sign when the supporters of the club aren’t bothered at all if a player is sold. Dortmund fans seem perfectly happy to see Gittens sold. For me he feels like such a Spurs or Villa level signing where that sort of price is the highest they’ll go to and his level is all they can attract. Chelsea should be aiming much higher. All Gittens feels like he’d be here is expensive squad depth. And since that’s the case we may as well just keep Sancho for half the cost.
-
Can’t imagine it. He’s the complete opposite profile that this ownership goes after. Too old and WAY too high wages. He’ll probably be out on loan to some midtable club with City covering some of his wages until his contract runs out.
-
Oh god. It is indeed pretty strange we haven’t had our name mentioned with him since were linked with every other winger out there.
-
Maybe Boehly/Egbahli are working in the shadows and will pull another Caicedo/Lavia on Liverpool and steal Wirtz 🤣🤣🤣 In all seriousness, what’s going on with that deal? Sounded done and dusted but now I’ve seen that Leverkusen have declined 2 bids from Liverpool?
-
Nico Jackson can and I think WILL develop into a very nice striker. Just not an elite one. So if he’s sold I hope we don’t do so to a rival PL club where he’d have the potential to annoy us. Madueke, I don’t care. Just get rid. Has some nice qualities but angers me almost every game I watch.
-
Gittens would just feel like such a “watch how smart we are” kind of signing in that his playing style and skill set are VERY similar to Nico Williams but his wage demands are probably half or a third of what Williams will be after. So if we get Gittens and he blows up these guys can claim they’re geniuses for not going huge on Nico Williams. Just feels like he’d be such an unnecessary gamble. He’s way more likely to just be “okay” in the same way that Madueke or Sancho have been. And that’s the last thing we need in a new wide attacker. We need someone who we can have a super high level of confidence will come in and elevate our side.
-
Imagine we send back Sancho and take Garnacho from United. Fuck me… 🤦♂️
-
Villa missing out on UCL could really play into our favor. Relationship between the clubs should be pretty good since we’ve already done multiple deals with them recently. Us getting Rogers and sending them one of our unneeded players would be perfect. I was watching the F1 race this morning where the England squad were guests of McLaren. Guess who Palmer was shown on camera hanging out with? His best mate Morgan Rogers… 👀
-
Garnacho is so bang average that id actually do a little celebration if we were to get Gittens instead. And I don’t even want the latter at all either. Garnacho would be like having 2 Madueke’s. Wide players that do well until up they have to use their football brain and everything goes to shit.
