I wouldn’t sell Havertz either. Him no longer carrying the burden of being our primary goal scorer will do him wonders. It’s clear now that he’s never going to be a super prolific scorer in the PL. But he’s still a great guy to have as an option in the squad. He’s a good big game player as well who can pop up with important goals. Pulisic, Ziyech, CHO, Auba can all go. Keep Kai.

I just pray that these 2 new wingers can settle quickly. The deadliest attackers in the PL over recent years are those who are super athletic and extremely direct. Those that want the ball and love to run hard at opposing defenders. Salah, Mané, Diaz, Jota, Son, Saka, Martinelli. We haven’t had a truly great one since Hazard left. Pulisic when in very top form did it but those moments were unfortunately extremely rare. Timo was supposed to be the perfect direct, aggressive wide forward but well….

I wonder, if we were to simply replace Jorginho with Caicedo would that be enough to dramatically elevate our team? For me personally I think we obviously improve defensively and are harder to breeze through on counters but I’m not sure that’s enough for someone who could cost £75m. If they accepted the £55m and we then went and signed another midfielder to partner him in the summer i’d say fair play. But £75m is the sort of cash you pay for a really special player.

Looks like I spoke too soon? Spuds Spudsing it up.
-
City as a team look like they’ve given up and know they won’t win the title now. Body language is shit for the whole team. All about finally winning the Champions League for them this season now.
-
Expect Caicedo will get done eventually because we’ll get more desperate as the deadline approaches. But we’re going to massively overpay. Should’ve just bit the bullet and paid Enzo’s release clause.
-
Imagine saying before the season started that Arsenal would walk the league. Good lord, what a nightmare.
-
Bid for Caicedo has been made according to Ornstein. Another offer for a CM that’s far below their clubs’ valuation but at least we are indeed still trying.
-
Honestly, if that deal was offered I’d take it. 🤣 A one year transfer ban after we’ve already completed our rebuild.
-
Kessie and Bissouma? Really? Two midfielders who got the big moves they really wanted and then completely failed to live up to expectations? If these are names we’re actually considering then it really does feel like we’re going to make the mistake of just getting any body in that’s available. This is how we ended up with Drinkwater, Djilodildo, Aubameyang, Barkley etc. “We couldn’t get our primary target so let’s just get this guy because he’s cheap and available.” Then we’re stuck with an average (or worse) player on our books and struggle to get rid.
-
With Reece back in training I think the dream of us bringing in some RB cover is gone. RLC showing he can fill in there as well. But knowing that Reece can instantly re-injure himself again makes it super risky to not get anyone. I’d be stunned if Brighton sell Caicedo now that Trossard is sold so midfield is likely on hold until summer. At least I hope so. No panic buy in the most important area of the team, please.
-
Has to be. Just has to be. And since CP is currently injured its surely Ziyech?
-
Mudryk left wing, Madueke right wing, and a striker up top. Right footed left winger with insane pace and technical ability and left footed right winger with insane pace and technical ability. This has the potential to be absolutely incredible if these new players settle. A front 3 of Mudryk, Nkunku, and Madueke? That’s potentially spicy as hell. Or rotate Nkunku with Felix or Havertz. We just now have to hope Madueke can remain fit. Looks electric on YouTube.
-
Been pointed out on Twitter that we aren’t allowed to have another player in on loan as we already have 2.
-
I’m assuming Arse signing Trossard means it’s extremely unlikely we’ll be able to get Caicedo this month. Selling 2 of their best players midseason could massively disrupt things when they’re going well. If that’s the case I think we must wait until the summer to address the midfield. Don’t panic buy some average guy like Alvarez.
-
I mean, whatever the worries about FFP there are it doesn’t appear to be stopping Boehly. Maybe the plan is a massive outlay early on, get all these young signings on super long deals, and clear out the aging players on huge wages. Then the spending can slow down as the new young signings settle.
-
What’s the punishment for breaching FFP anyways? A small fine like City were slapped with? I doubt our owners (or really any multibillionaire owner) is sweating heavily and losing sleep over FFP any longer.
-
£65-75m is a hell of a lot for Caicedo. Can probably get someone with his exact profile for a whole lot less. But I can see us pulling the trigger. Knows and has worked under Potter, we seemingly have a good relationship with Brighton, and he’s in a position of serious need. He also perfectly matches the sort of signing Boehly and Vivell have desired. Early 20’s and can be put on a long contract and “grow with the project.” Always going to be a price premium when you’re buying in January and especially from a fellow PL club who don’t actually want to sell.
-
Happens with every massive transfer for all the big clubs. Media love the huge overall number because it’s more sensational and flashy.
-
Were either he or Reece meant to be back this soon?
-
I’m still fine giving Kai one more season. 🤷♂️ With Nkunku coming in as an alternative and us hopefully dramatically upgrading the wide attacking positions I don’t see the downside in keeping Havertz.
-
The Caicedo stuff should start to heat up today if Ben Jacobs is to be believed since he is under a new agent now. But surely if Brighton are going to reluctantly sell a key player any move will have to happen very soon you would think. They won’t have time to get someone else in otherwise. So if we are indeed after him a move probably has to happen this week or at least well before deadline day.
-
Was just watching highlights from last nights Lakers game and saw Boehly sitting court side cheering them on. Had to chuckle at that. The dude really does genuinely love supporting the teams he’s involved with. He’s not the Glazers or some of these other horrible owners who care nothing about their clubs and just milk them dry.
-
A lot really depends on what we do with Felix. If we try to buy him permanently I think it could spell the end for Havertz. Assuming Auba is 100% gone in the summer we’ll have a big decision to make. Hard to picture us carrying all 4 of Felix, Nkunku, Havertz, and David Fofana. So it probably comes down to Havertz vs Felix. The rest of this season may just be an audition between the two to see which better fits with Potter’s vision.
-
Havertz is 100% someone I feel would make us regret selling. Still very young, still has fantastic upside if we have a team around him preforming well. Imo, we shouldn’t even consider moving him on despite how annoying his form has been recently. He’d go to another big team and be a beast.
