  1. Scolari would not be playing the lad in pre season if he didn't think he could play some part next season. Regular starter next season? Of course not, but i am sure he will play his part in enough games and score quite a few goals for us.....
  2. Jesus, that video is bloody hilarious.... At a club like Chelsea the man in charge has to be a very strong character, these players want to be led, they want someone to tell them what to do and to take charge of situations. Which is one of the many reasons why Grant was never going to work out.
  3. I don't think it was quite said in that way. Being 19 he is obviously one for the future, but i am sure he didn't say that he wasn't one for the present....
  4. It may be weaker opposition but you can still see a difference in a player. Kalou had a decent scoring record last season, especially as that was from the wings. There is still a lot of time and games to go in pre season but so far so good as far as strikers go.
  5. Drogba is still a tough one to know what is happening. Because he has not been involved with Pre Season it is hard to see how is reacting, with Drogba you can always tell how he is feeling. Maybe he does want a move away, maybe he doesn't. I think he will end up staying with us next season which can only be a good thing for us. We need strikers in good form, in his absence Anelka, Kalou and Di Santo have all so far looked impressive.
  6. Lets hope they can give us more of a challenge, otherwise it will make the jump up to Lokomotiv difficult for the players to make.....
  7. Possibly....... If he can keep into those scoring positions and creating chances and putting them away then i see no reason why he wouldn't. Obviously there is a huge question mark over his ability to be able to cope in the Premiership, and we will find out sooner or later if he can cope. Time will tell, he is a gifted player with an excellant football brain, if he can cope with the nature of the premier league then i see no reason why he can't make plenty of appearances this season.
  8. He has certainly done everything he can possibly do. He came in as a young player and put in the reserves to basically get used to English football, and he did that with style, 7 goals in 8 games made everyone sit up and take notice. Now he has been given his chance with the first team and once again he done all he can do and scored on both his appearances so far. Hopefully he will get his chances, because if he does he will certainly score goals...
  9. Well when you look at it Malouda has played well at the highest levels of footie, he didn't have a good season with us last year at all, however it is clear that he can certainly improve on what he did last year. SWP on the other hand has had plenty of time to establish himself as a top player and has consistantly underachieved. If only 1 of them is to go then it has to be Wright-Phillips...
  10. Not suprising to see that is when he intends to retire. It is hard after that time to play at the very highest level and he obviously wants to go out on the top of his game. Fair play to him.
  11. It's a real shame that he can't take part in any more pre season games. Lets just hope he can be ready for the start of the season and then stay fit. No doubt going to be a big player for us this season.
  12. As has already been mentioned i hope we get a bit more of a test in this game. It would be nice for the defence to have to do some work in Pre Season also I am sure we will win and comfortably too but we need to be put under more pressure in this one..
  13. Well you can't argue with that result. In reality Chengdu was very poor opposition, but at this stage in pre season it did help us to work on our pass and movement. The conditions with the heat and humidity made it hard for the players and it showed at times but we still managed to play very well. All of the goals were very well worked, Joe Coles being the pick of the goals obviously. Pre Season has gone fantastic so far this year, lets hope we can keep the improvement up.
  14. Well he wasn't awful. But at the end of the day he has had enough time now and we need to be seeing more from a player in his position.
  15. His attitude was poor and generally held him back in my opinion. Had potential to be a decent holding midfielder, but it was clear a few seasons ago that he wasn't going to make it.
  16. Lol, that is more likely!! Also who will be the target for the boo boys this season? And what is going to be the main topic of bitching this season?
  17. The Premier League has to be taken back off United this season. After that i just want us to do our best in every competition and hopefully play some excellant football along the way.
  18. Technically he doesn't belong to us anymore we have released him from the club. Southend would be a very good move for him.
  19. Yup, that fee seems absurd now looking back!!! I can't see it happening until we either sign Robinho or another player similar. Basically we won't let him go without our replacement being in place.
  20. We will see a role completely different to the one Maka did, Maka would sit there all game and snuff out attacks. Now like we saw on Wednesday we will most likely see 2 banks of midfielders, neither of which are "defensive" in the way Maka was.... It seems that we almost always play with 2 in the CM positions, playing the natural midfield role - then we will see either 2 attacking mids ahead like we saw with Frank and Deco, or we will see 3 attacking mids ahead - 2 of them being wingers. It is something very new for us, but progressive and i think will work for us very well considering the players we have at our disposal.
  21. I am sure Scolari will try something different again in this game. These games are all about fitness and assessment. We want to be seeing the same again from the lads, good passing and good movement to create plenty of chances to score and hopefully score plenty of goals also
  22. Still 50/50 on Malouda, he can put good balls into the box, like he did for Di Santo on Wedneday. But he still loses the ball too much for my liking - we will see how he goes this season. Anelka looked twice the player he did for us last season, bright, fast chasing and getting into good positions and scoring positions too.
  23. No-one will play the role like Maka did. We will have to adapt the way we play to compensate for that, Mikel will the deepest laying midfielder but he will still get forward plenty i feel. We will play different formations with different players. The key thing is that we have plenty of options to be able to change when we need to, and i think we do have that,
  24. Chelsea have confirmed that their pursuit of Robinho remains a work in progress. The Brazilian has been quoted as expressing an interest in joining the Blues, although conflicting reports have suggested that he wishes to remain at Real Madrid and has agreed a new five-year contract with the Primera Liga champions. Despite the ongoing rumours surrounding a potential deal, Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon revealed on Thursday that discussions with Madrid are ongoing and the player may yet arrive at Stamford Bridge. "The speculation surrounding Chelsea in any transfer window is enormous," he said. "We have confirmed we are interested in Robinho and have had some conversations with the club. That is ongoing and as the coach has said, he is a player we have identified as a talent. "If we could get him it would add to what we have got, but if it doesn't happen, the objectives of Chelsea are not going to change." Luiz Felipe Scolari refused to get drawn into the debate surrounding the Real playmaker, only adding that he was an admirer of his countryman's considerable ability. "Robinho is a great player, he plays for one of the best teams in the world and also Brazil," said the 59-year-old, who guided the South Americans to World Cup glory in 2002. "But at the moment it is not more than speculation. It is the time of the year for speculation, it is the time for agents to put one player here and then there." The new Chelsea chief also confirmed that the club expect to learn more about the full extent of Jose Bosingwa's injury status once the Portugal international has undergone a scan on a thigh complaint on Friday. The full-back picked up the knock during a 4-0 victory over Guangzhou on Wednesday Source: Sky Sports
