  1. The lad knows where the goal is thats for sure, 7 goals in 8 games for the reserves last season. 1 in 1 for the first team so far. He can be very very good, and playing first team football with us at 19 can only make him better. A very exciting prospect, also liked the look of Kalou and Anelka yesterday, maybe we can start seeing some production from our strikers this season....
  2. I would kiss Kenyon right on top of his bald shiney head if he can bring us Robinho!!! Talk from Spain today claiming that he has turned down a contract offer from Madrid, hopefully again this is true and a sign that Robinho is ready to push a move through now.
  3. It is interesting i think that since Kenyons comments Madrid have gone very quiet on this subject all of a sudden! Still hoping this one goes though, he is exactly the sort of player we need.
  4. Certainly not going to be anywhere near Chelsea this season. Would have thought either another loan or moved on completely.
  5. I thought he did very well in his first apperance for the first team, without showing what he can REALLY do. What really came through from him in the performance yesterday was his positional sense, he pulls into great positions to try and score and could have had more goals. He showed he can play with the first team. Next test for him is the Premier League, how will he play against their defences. So far though so good

  7. Hopefully we can have the same workout in this game as we did last night. More match fitness and working on our play. Hopefully Joe Cole will be fit for this one and hopefully Bosingwa can recover. Doesn't sound like Sheva will be ready for this one and i don't think Ballack will take any part either although i think he will joing up with the squad before this game.
  8. Well as far as first pre season games go that was a very good one. Lets be real Guangzhou didn't offer us to much opposition but the crucial thing is getting into match situations and getting used to each other and preparation for a new season. The first 30 minutes of the game were very very impressive, the midfield diamond seemed work very well with Lampard and Deco linking up perfectly for most of the time. The formation was aided by both Bosingwa and A.Cole running down the flanks both very impressively. Also the front 2 of Anelka and Kalou did very very well. When the chages were made a lot of fluid play broke down for a while but we still looked very good. Was pleasing to see Franco Di Santo impress and score on his debut, he gets himself into some great positions. Also i thought Ivanovic looked good at right back too, which was good to see. All of the goals were very well taken and worked, particulary Franks - sublime. Could have scored plenty more goals in truth but 4 - 0 was an impressive result still. I was pleased to see Kalou play so well, he looked in good shape and seemed to enjoy playing as a front 2. Overall, an excellant start, more of the same in the next game.....
  9. According to CFC website the team is: Cech Bosingwa Carvalho Terry A.Cole Mikel Essien Lampard Deco Kalou Anelka Subs: Cudicini Ferreira Alex Ivanovic Bridge Malouda Wright-Phillips Di Santo So the first Scolari formation is a 4-4-2 Midfield Diamond.....
  10. Certainly is, which is why our system will change completley this season. More likely the 4-2-3-1 that Soclari seems to favour but also possibly a 4-4-2 diamond or somehting without so much reliance on a sitting midfielder.
  11. Lol, 4 right backs at the club and STILL Essien at right back.... Any news on the subs? I am assuming that either Bosingwa or Ferreira are not fit and 1 of them is on the bench for the second half. Great to see Di Santo getting a start! Looking forward to watching this game tonight.
  12. Hmm, i think i would put Lamps, Cech and JT in the same bracket as Maka with regards to how valuable they have been to us during the "Roman Era"... We certainly were very lucky to have seen a player like Maka in our team, and more importantly value him a lot higher that Madrid certainly did.
  13. Maka could read a game better than anyone. Although by the end of last season his timing was out quite a lot and he made some pretty bad tackles. The time is right for us to cope without him, and i am sure we will do so very very well.
  14. To me those comments from Essien seem to point to Drogba wanting to go... I think getting a first class winger in is vitally important. If Drogba wants to go and Real are willing to do a deal on this basis then i say get it done. The Robinho deal seems to be getting closer all the time now. Which is very exciting for us, lets hope we can get it done for the start of the season at least.
  15. Lol, I think we will be stronger defensively this season that we have for the last 2 even without Maka.
  16. Yes that comment i found quite odd also. Not only because of last season but also why would Scolari have to win 2 Prem Titles and a Carling Cup to worry Fergie. If we are running them all the way in all comps then that will worry him enough before we win a single cup under Scolari.
  17. Yes it would be dissapointing if the backed down as much as is being claimed. But we still don't know everything about this, like i said the club may know more than they are letting on about Frank wanting to leave and are calling his and his agents bluff on the contract stories. At the end of the day if Frank signs we should be happy, although it may well cause problems for us further down the line with players wanting the same sort of deal. To replace Frank would have been increidbly hard to do.
  18. Next stage of the Robinho saga is that there is talks about a possible swap deal involving Drogba going to Madrid and Robinho comming to us.. It is a deal that could possibly work, with Drogba seemingly still not content to pledge his future to Chelsea we could use him to get our main and only target.
  19. Not being widely reported yet so not sure if there is any accuracy in this story. Make no mistake, if Lamps signs a new contract as far as we the fans are concerned it is only a good thing - no matter how long it is for and how much it is for! Of course there could be a case of the club calling Lampards bluff, the claims that he wants more money or a longer contract the club may feel are lies so he can try and wrangle a move to Inter with Jose, and now they may be trying to call his bluff.............. I will be thrilled if Lamps signs.
  20. Fergie is an old drunk who thinks he is playing "mind games"..... We did enough to worry him last season with a buffoon in charge! This season we will be better prepared and ready to take back our Premiership title. I really hope that Fergie is underestimating us, but i doubt it....
  21. Maybe. But thankfully he is not made of glass like Robben
  22. Yes you are correct, Scolari's tactics ARE usually based on strong wingers. Which is why there is the interest in Robinho from us. And also why should the Robinho deal not happen we will have someone else in mind - it is clear now that Scolari has (wisely) decided that a new winger is a must...
  23. Just a pain that it is on in the afternoon!! Will have to wait till i get home from work to watch it.....
  24. Since when and what sort of injury? Only a serious long injury is likely to put off any transfer....
  25. This being the first pre season game i would expect that there will more than likely be 2 different teams played, changing at half time. It would be good if we can try 2 different formations as well. Something like this maybe: First half .............................Cech.......................... Ferreira.......Ivanovic.....Terry..........A.Cole ....................Mikel..........Essien................ ..J.Cole..................Deco.................Kalou. ...........................Di Santo....................... Second Half ...........................Cudicini......................... Bosingwa......Carvalho.....Alex...........Bridge SWP.............Essien......Lampard......Malouda ...................Anelka.....Shevchenko.............
