  1. Maybe if he gives an exclusive to an English journalist first then maybe....
  2. It's a pre-season friendly and the announcers went on and on (continuing to discuss deep into the second half) how disrespectful it was, blah blah blah. He's a headcase but it was entertaining and gave the fans something to remember after the game.
  3. @Footysays Reports are linking Chelsea with a Mascherano move......
  4. Aren't you being a little optimistic that the team will be in those positions?
  5. Classy post. Like AVB said today, let's not get obsessed with this. (I wouldn't mind a goal on Sunday from #9). "I wouldn't want to turn it into an obsession like people are trying to," Villas-Boas said. "My obsession is to win trophies with this team and take them to success. Rather than individually, I'd prefer to address it as a 'forward sector' and focus on people gaining confidence to find the back of the net. That comes with training, patience and tolerance, which it looks like he isn't getting at this moment. But we, at Chelsea, are ready to give our forwards this kind of patience. "I disagree [that Torres is lacking in confidence]. Every time a player doesn't score, people ask questions about him. I know he is a £50m striker but people's focus is purely on the individual and not the performance of the team. You know the importance the collective has for me. I'm not going to lose time over this. Things will happen naturally."
  6. Like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole at times.
  7. Fair enough but did Torres say "buy me for 50M"? That was a decision Chelsea made yet the media and CFC fans continue to go on and on about it. It is what it is and no matter how often it's brought up it won't change the fact that he is now a Chelsea player. Media bashing of Torres is "hanging low fruit" - it's easy to write and people can't wait to read it. When I read these articles about Torres it's 5 or 6 paragraphs about Torres and one paragraph about the rest of the team. It's just too easy to focus on one player instead of the collective problem (to borrow from AVB). I would ask what players on this Chelsea squad are showing some manner of class? I don't think Torres is the only one who has shown us jack shit.
  8. Trying to insert the YouTube video of AVB's post match thoughts. My computer here is crap. Nevermind.
  9. BL, now why do you want to go and be logical? There's no fun in that approach. Great post.
  10. I think the game after (Sat or Sun?) is 3:30 am California time.
  11. Be on at the crack of dawn in the States on FSC. 5:30 am in California.
  12. Why do I get the feeling some posters would rather Torres fail then succeed? Last time I checked he wore Chelsea blue. To each their own.
  13. I still want him to start knocking the goals in. The sooner the better.
  14. The slow Spanish NT buildup doesn't suit Torres but his Spanish NT teammates have still praised his work which often includes occupying defenders and stretching the defense. Why was Torres so successful at Liverpool? They didn't have wide players either. The main difference they played quickly to Torres. Some Chelsea fans want to write Torres off after 4 months. Others are willing to give him some time. I'm in the latter group.
  15. Thanks for the education. You can tell I don't follow them. It still looks weird.
  16. Why is City copying the AC Milan kit? Watched them tonight against Vancouver and it was weird.
  17. Nice of Frank, Torres, Didier (that's all I could see clearly) to stop and sign a few autographs. Got a chuckle out of the "Didier Drogba" chant. Alex looks like one BAM.
  18. I think the media sometimes gets a little lazy, takes an easy spin to churn out the words for their columns. I think they also assume most readers have a 5th grade education and need to be spoon-fed. Not discounting the comments that the team, entire team, needs some work.
  19. The author says "In circumstances in which it was difficult to assess individual performances" then he begins to assess/criticize Torres (fair enough) and even Drogba (fair enough). Where was his assessment of Lampard (who I thought was even more anonymous than Torres or Drogba) or Yossi who I thought was one of the best performers on the pitch? I don't think either Torres or Drogba set the world on fire. I don't think they were the worst players on the pitch either. I think it was a lazy review using Torres to catch the reader. Would it be as eye-catching if it said "Yossi had a good game"?
  20. I watched both and neither wowed me today. That said not too many players out there today wowed me tbh with the exception of Yossi. I'm not going to panic yet. Let's see what they look like in a game or two.
  21. Nice little ball movement there, final ball not so lovely.
  22. Here in the US and my Chelsea TV is working - no problems
