Name: Ryan Bertrand Position: Defender Number: 34 Joined From: Gillingham Fee: £125,000 Signed by: Frank Arnesen?/Jose Mourinho? Age: 22 Ryan joined Chelsea in the summer of 2005 from Gillingham, he has gone on loan to Bournemouth, Oldham, Norwich, Reading and Nottingham Forest. He has recently became a squad player for Chelsea and was on the bench for the FA Cup replay against Everton at Stamford Bridge. His debut for the Blues finally came in a 3-1 win over Birmingham City, where he replaced the injured Ashley Cole midway through the second half, it was however his only appearance that season. He was named in the 25 man squad by Andre Villas Boas for the 2011/2012 season but found opportunities limited under the Portuguese, only appearing six times, but it was when Roberto Di Matteo took over his Chelsea career and career as a whole really kicked off. When Cole picked up an injury, Bertrand started two games in the space of three days aganst Wigan and Fulham and produced solid performances both times, unlike Andre, Robbie trusted the youngster to fill in when Cole was injured or needed a rest. His best Chelsea performance came at The Emirates against Arsenal, where he completely nullified the threat of Theo Walcott and picked up his first man of the match, after that afternoon he was picked for all bar one of the remaining league games as Cole was getting rested and redied the FA Cup and Champions League finals. But his season didn't end there, injury's and suspension's meant he got a shock Champions League debut in the final against Bayern Munich but where most in his situation would be riddled with nerves, he simply came of age, performed incredibly in tanden with Cole to keep the Bayern right side of Lahm and Robben quiet and when he was replaced by Florent Malouda in the 74th minute he and all Chelsea fans knew whatever the outcome he done us proud. We ofcourse went on to win on penalties and made history. Following on from that, he was given a call up to the Team GB Olympic team, despite a poor tournament overall, Ryan never put a foot wrong in defence and came out of it with his reputation further enhanced. Now if all that in a few months wasn't enough Roy Hodgson has given the lad his first England call up for the friendly against Italy. A few days after that he came on as a substitute for Chelsea against Manchester City at Villa Park with the Blues 3-1 down. He scored his first Chelsea goal to bring them back in the game and make it 3-2, although Chelsea didn't bring the game back level, on a personal level it's good he got of the mark in Chelsea colours.

The guardians rating for Micheal Essien is a joke, he was fantastic all night.

That day is my 20th birthday Dont mean to scare you but our record on my birthday is shocking. I can only remember 3 games on my birthday and they were Arsenal in 2005 at Stamford Bridge ended 0-0, the fatefull night in France against Monaco the year before and 2 years before that was the last time Utd won at Stamford Bridge on my 11th birthday in 2002. That doesnt bode well, although the last time Brum played on my birthday (my 17th) they lost 5-1 to Villa so there is hope

On a side note when Rooney scored and taunted us in the Matthew harding stand, if Drogba did that at the Stretford end he would be getting mullered by the media drunkards.

I was wary about the 4-4-2 we seemed a bit open at times against Copenhagen. Eating my words now tho and more than happy too

Good review Personally i think Essien was MOTM he looked so much like his old self Scholes looked completely out of his depth against him in the second half. Torres just needs a goal and we will see them in left right and centre. Back in the top 4 now and if Tottenham drop points at Wolves and City labour to a draw against Wigan we will be in a glorious place to finish 3rd and with Arsenals track record of falling after Birmingham games who knows we might even get 2nd. Great game to remember Ossie.

Guys you should see my facebook homepage, Luiz is getting under evrey one of my united fan mates skin already

Petr Cech 7 Got all his desicions spot on could not to nowt with the goal. Branislav Ivanovic 6 did ok but was troubled by Nani at time David Luiz 7 got caught out a couple of times but very good for his full SW6 debut, look like he is taking over Carvalho's role in scoring regually against Utd as well. John Terry 7 Good performance from the captain led from the back. Ashely Cole 6 solid but unspectacular. Micheal Essien 8 MOTM for me i thought he was outstanding, looks like he has finally escaped from where his twin brother hid him. Ramires 7 bit sloppy a couple of times in the 1st half but he will be a huge big game player for us in years to come. Frank Lampard 7 Slowly but surely we are getting our Frank back. Florent Malouda 7 again better worthy of a 7 lets hope he improves from here on in. Nicolas Anelka 6 Couple of neat touches but was quite quiet tonight. Fernando Torres 7 getting there as soon as he scored his 1st there fly in SUBS Didier Drogba 7 Yuri Zhirkov 7 Jose Bosingwa 6 back in the top 4 time to stay there for good.

Happy birthday Josh

Im well aware of all of that but we are the best equiped to beat them than anyone. It will be tough and they are the best team in the world but i would much rather get them than Madrid, because Jose knows exacly how our players tick and he will most likely frustrate us AGAIN. Are we better than Barcelona? no Do we have the strengh and the character to beat them? absolutely
-
ahh right is that 5 yellows for a ban thing ditched for good or will it be back for the 1st half of next season?

I really cannot get my head around that rule sheet thing LDN Blue posted haha

I dont see the massive fear of getting Barcelona in the knockout rounds of the champions league. I tell you now i would much rather get the Catalans than Real Madrid (infact Madrid are the only team im shit scared of Chelsea getting because of the Jose factor). Barcelona HATE playing against phisical teams that get in their faces, we will do that and we proved at the Camp Nou in 2009 that they aint as hard to stop as some people like to think. At the Bridge they will try and work their way through us which will give us space to exploit on the counter attack and lets be honest if it werent for that norweigen ref and Drogba's poor finishing we would have THRASHED Barcelona that night. Plus dont rule out the strong motivation Torres will have to do over basically the bulk of his international team mates, would he want to go to the next Spain match having to face up to most of the players that knocked him out of the Champions League? not a chance in hell. All the players will be gagging to undo the injustice of 2 years back they will be fired up for this game like no other and i think we have a much stronger chance of doing the catalans over than the guys in Madrid. Barca are without question an amazing team but un-beatable ? dont make me laugh

There is no way we can stick to 4-4-2 for this one, we have to go back to type. Mikel in general has got an awesome record against Man.Utd, stick him there and get him to intercept and spray passes, im torn between, Lampard and Essien in the middle, Anelka and Florent out wide, Fernando up front and back 5 of Cech-Brana-Luiz-Terry-Cole. Its a MUST win for me.

that was a nervous game, i nearly had a heart attack when Angel missed a late sitter.

Mine was the 5-0 league cup win at Highbury. My Dad (who is a gooner) spent about 4 years trying to change me from a blue to a gooner, he took me to this game hoping to change my mind and he also took me to another Arsenal - Chelsea game at the Bridge which Arsenal even won (the sickening Kanu hat-trick) and that didnt work. Ive only been to about 7/8 games so far because its very expensive to go (planning to go to the Wigan or Birmingham game in April) but never fail to watch my beloved club when i can. Ive also been on a stadium tour twice. If i ever win a couple of grand + on a scratch card or something else a Chelsea season ticket will be the 1st thing on my list Other notable games i went to was the 1-0 home win to Villa in 03 when Hasslebaink scored, 1-1 at Villa Park during the 01/02 season, 1-1 to Brum in 05, 1-0 Pompey 07 1-0 to Boro in 08 and 4-1 to Everton in 03 (Zola's last ever Chelsea goal).

Selling Mikel will betray all common sense. Yes ok he may have been preety average the past 2 months but he could be our DM of the next decade, he is one of our few players that can pass from tight spaces and his pass rate is over 95%. He was one of the key men in securing 6/6 over the "big 4" last campaign (especially at Old Toilet and in both Arsenal games) it will be criminal if he does not start tommorow night. Drogba i love him as much as the next man but he cant start week in week out forever and unless he accepts and Insaghi style role (which given the way he reacted at Fullham and Copenhagen it dont look likely) i think its time to move on as a Chelsea legend, Scholes still plays once a week for Utd at 36 and i cant see why Lamps cant do the same for Chelsea, same with Terry. Malouda i think it will depend on how he ends the season, if he ends it like last i think he will stay if he carries on like he has in the last few months i personally think he will be the 1st out of the door. Hilario is out of contract this summer aint he? if thats the case i think its almost certain he will go, Delac can come in his place.

I still voted for Osgood

I think its time for graduall change over with JT and Lamps roles gradully slowing down and Drogba possibly leaving. I think our potential new spine is Cech/Delac-Luiz-Ramires-Sturridge. Will need time and a bit of patience lets hope we get it right.
