  1. He was never the best striker in the world, even in his prime his all round play was pretty limited. Eto'o, Drogba, Henry, Rooney and Villa were all better in that period, especially against tight defences were you needed a bit of craft and intelligence to break through.
  2. He was worse than Sheva and Kezman. If those two got the unconditional chances and their name chanted every time they got dispossessed I'm certain they would have done better. The fact that we brought back the striker he was suppose to replace at 36 years old to replace him says it all, there is just no way of sugarcoating Torres, he was a complete disaster.
  3. Turnbull wasn't even a 3rd keeper, he was absolutely dreadful and it was no surprise he didn't even sniff a new deal when Mourinho returned.Hilario I say was a bit like Schwarzer (the version we got) something In between a number 2 and a number 3, the Portuguese was better than people gave him credit for, that City game unfairly tarnished what was overall a solid spell as understudy and if we can find a new #3 on his level I won't be complaining Infact it would be delighted. Maybe a youngish keeper happy to join as #3 with a view to promotion in a year or two if Begovic gets itchy feet and wants first team footy again.
  4. He went a bit far saying 'forget' but the basis of what he is saying is true. Cech choose to join Arsenal and directly compete with us for silverware, he's going to be spending the next few years hoping we drop points in every single league game we play, and in turn we are going to be hoping every game is miserable for him. While I will never forget what Cech has done for Chelsea and wish him well on a personal note, for as long as he plays for Arsenal I hope he has a mare professionally, because wishing anything else is wishing good on Arsenal. On the pitch Chelsea and Cech will be enemies until he leaves Arsenal.
  5. Yet all those player's have won one trophy combined for those teams.
  6. Is their a Hilario 2006 lite #3 available? With Begovic looking likely and Tibo established, we will probably enter next season with the strongest duo of keepers in the league, however as we saw in 2006 and 2010 it's not beyond the realms of possibility that both get injured at the same time so an expierenced #3 wouldn't go a miss, Schwarzer wouldn't have been a bad option in that regard but he's gone. I know some of you will probably say a youth keeper but quite frankly none of them fill me with any confidence, well not enough to see them suddenly face Barca like Hilario had too or Inter like Turnbull had too, could you really see Blackman or Beeney between the sticks at The Bernabeu? Surely, like Hilario back then, there is a semi decent keeper lurking around the continent somewhere? Maybe a HG keeper in the Championship?
  7. He did last season with Villa, Sporting and Arsenal. I'm guessing Mou will rest Costa in domestic cups before the semis if we get there and most of the CL group anyway, itwill only be an issue late on if we are locked in the PL battle and In late stage of CL, if that's the case surely Costa will play if fit.
  8. The only time Drogba was constantly favoured over Remy was around the Autumn time when Didier was playing well. Irrc any time Diego was injured pre Old Trafford and December onwards and both Remy and Drogs were available the only time Drogba was choosen was at home to Schalke and at Villa Park.
  9. Remys an after thought compared to the real worry. If Falcao starts even one game (that isn't a CL group game or domestic cup match) when Costa is fit and available I'll hit the roof.
  10. A few times in the Champions League group stage a couple of PL games (domestic cup too) and after we won the title but beyond that Cesar started when he was available.
  11. Because some keepers don't mind, Reina went to Bayern knowing he hasn't got a cat in hells chance of outing Neuer, Toldo happily stayed on the Inter bench for years after being dropped likewise Cudicini with us.Also Atletico made a big financial commitment in young Jan Oblak, even if Begovic is better Simeone won't replace a keeper he signed for the long term after a year. Buffon can't go on forever but Is still going at the minute.
  12. Azpi is 100% there. For all this Mou loves Ivanovic talk, the Serbian is 100 times more likely to lose his place anytime soon then Cesar. Unless some prime Ashley Cole creeps out of the wood word, Cesar has left back on lockdown until he declines.
  13. Which one's? Out of the top teams (i.e. the ones with a real chance of winning it or likely to go far) I don't think he will get in any.
  14. I'm all for dropping Ivanovic but I'd rather buy a new RB then switch Cesar, harsh on Luis but Azpi has just simply been that good atleft back thoughts of dropping or moving him should be well down the lists of priorities. He didn't make one single mistake that led to oppo chance last season, and what's also overlooked is Azpis amazing 1 on 1 defending is a big reason as to why Hazard gets close to a free role, well as close as your ever get under Jose if your name ain't Ronaldo. Luis hasn't been bad in fact he's been good on the whole but he simply can't compete with Azpi for those reasons mentioned especially. If he's happy to play the same role he did last season then I'm happy to keep him here, if not fair enough goodbye and good luck.
  15. Out of those players that started in Munich that night at the ability they were in 2012 only possibly Cahill would get into this line-up. Munich was a remarkable underdog story but we were underdog for a reason, saying "he started in the CL final" doesn't really wash all thing's considered, Bosingwa played that night, Dimi Traore started in Istanbul for Liverpool.
  16. Isn't the rumour that Ronaldo is going up top with Bale on the left? If that's the case Benzema is the one making way.
  17. Sorry are you trying to insinuate Torres lead the line in the CL season?
  18. If he costs us points time after time like Torres did it would be terrible no matter what way it's spun. We could have signed Jermaine Beckford, gave him the chances and excuses Torres got and he would have scored some goals few being important, doesn't change the fact he's a crap footballer nowhere near good enough for Chelsea. That would have saved us about £45m aswell.
  19. Slight improvement on the last number 9 who won a corner for the equalizer
  20. The problem is even if he magically reproduces Leti form can we justify spending shit loads of money on a 30 year old when we already have one of the world's best strikers here?
  21. That's bitter sweet from our persoective. Bitter because City can refresh their ageing squad now but sweet because lets be honest here If FFP got fully implemated United have a beyond ridiculous advantage.
  22. Putting it mildly, he could have been anything he wanted to be. Maybe if Jose was here in 2010 he would have got the same kick in the ass RLC got before it was too late.
  23. As long as Costa remains #1.
  24. Sometimes threads can go off topic, it will be an nuisance to just go to the right topic every time for the sake of consistency. It never sits right with me when we are told to get back on topic immediately, eventually everything will return to natural order, but sometimes interesting debates can happen in unexpected places and it would be a shame to just drop it.
