  1. Is he quite stubborn in his ways of attacking? Like for example will he tone it down a bit against teams better equipped to play attacking football than us? Ie Arsenal, Barcelona, City? What is his Chile team like from a defensive POV? Last thing I ever want to see is a repeat of that 5-3 against Arsenal.
  2. Last season's result in this fixture was the easiest/most relaxing Chelsea game I have ever watched, what I'll give for tommorows game to be half as comfortable.
  3. As annoying as this news is, worse players than current Ivan have been in title/trophy winning sides, Del Horno, Young to name a couple. If we struggle to get back to the top level, blaming it solely on Ivan still being here is just a cop out.
  4. Hopefully we can hit some good form now, primarily because we need to big time but also because all this talk of relegation, even in jest, is getting beyond tedious.
  5. The only did that because we were playing shit and they smelt blood, last season many teams sat back against us and if Guus finds a consistent pattern again they will start doing it again this time round.
  6. Azpi struggles go in forward is widely exaggerated and wasmore down to instructions by Jose, since Guus has come in he's nearly scored twice and provided Ruben with an assist. I defiantly agree, but right now he's struggling and easing him in This season is the right thing, you only need to see Scott Carson as proof of how one bad moment even can affect a career, if I had the choice between Ivan or Baba getting torn apart by wingers right now, id choose Ivan, hes in the twilight of his career, Baba having regular bad experiences could affect him going forward.
  7. I can defiently understand his critics in the sense that he can let big games pass him by, he lacks athleticism, he struggles to cope with being pressed and despite great final balls to put players in his General play isn't the best, I'm talking in terms of recycling possesion and keeping play ticking over, he's not the most tactful in that regard. But in games where opponents will park the jumbo jet like Scunny did and WBA probably will, he's still the first name on the teamsheet for me.
  8. Technically in the first half he did, not because he was anything special, but because Scunny sat deep and he was picking the passes to beat a crowded defense (which is his strength). In that sense Cesc can still be an asset because we are going to have to deal with deep defense in the PL, starting with WBA on Wednesday.
  9. When he returns it will be interesting to see how he get on. We are playing better as a team and more chances will probably fall to him as a result. I'm by no means saying he is back orHiddink will bring back the old Falcao, he's done as a top class footballer, but hopefully under Guus when he plays he can get something mirroring a respectable return.
  10. Said it before and will say it again, a season fit and on form and he can easily hit in and around the 40 goal barrier. Obviously that is a Bridge too far this season, but if Hiddink can recover him the way he did Drogba (who went on to hit 37 in 41 the season after) I don't see why Diego can't have a similar blinder this next 18 months.
  11. Also not to mention, he is in the top 5/7 this season in terms of chances created, despite being in by far the worst form of his career. If he really wants to leave there's not much we can do (maybe a Fergie/Ronaldo, Gerrard/Suarez agreement where he stays for one final season) but to decide to sell him would be crazy in my opinion. Also worth noting that Iniesta (the player most comparable to Hazard in style play) didn't score until mid January in Peps second season at Barca, and he didn't face a tenth of the obstacles Hazard has this season (team playing shocking and club in complete crisis the main one).
  12. Pedro is the kind of player that will fit in well with a successful system, when we start hitting a positive run again thats when we will see the best of him, he would have been brlliant for us last season. I would imagine he would leave if he was relegated to squad player for an extended period, if he left his boyhood club for that reason I can't see him sticking around here for long if he's a bench player.
  13. It's gone a bit unnoticed due to the desperation for Ivanovic to be dropped but aside from Dynamo Kiev at home, Baba hasn't been very good atall when he has played. He's young so hes got time yes, but right now taking off Ivanovic and putting Baba in will only result in one change and that's the side of the pitch that opposition managers will target.
  14. If Costa keeps up this run and it coincides with a dry patch for Lukaku, well let's just say it will be a shame Paq and Zolayes are gone.
  15. Pulis at home is fine, just away against his teams I hate, quite funny that was our only away win up until last week.
  16. Man.City are a bad example, Pellegrini has reguarly ignored youth in the cup, infact yesterday was the first time he started an academy player in the cups I think. Critisise us as much as you like, but ican't see a club who's even worse being used as an example.
  17. It's quite ironic that some people think Azpilicueta (one of the best defenders) should be dropped because of his forward play not being great, yet it's scoffed at any time someone brings up the defensive game for a winger/AM. "There an attacking player, why should it matter how well they did defending" was a favroite during Matas final days here, so shouldn't Azpi get the same treatment the other way round?
  18. Although I don't think Bamfords good enough I would actually be tempted to start him and bring Diego on at half time if were not winning, we got two PL games coming up this week and we need Diego at full sharpness especially as Remy is not fit. Only issue is, due to the rules that you can't play for three clubs in one season, playing him today means he can't find another club until the summer, unless he goes grovelling back to Pardrew.
  19. Big Sam puts such a huge emphasis on defensive solidarity i can't imagine him not looking at a left back to replace this guy. If Sunderland had a competent left back they would have got something against Arsenal yesterday.
  20. It would be perfect if they became one of the best in those fields. How many times have clubs gone down the sentimental route only for it to go badly wrong? Real Madrid could be the next club to fall victim in that department.
  21. Shrewsbury the most recent example last season. Huddersfield was the main example for me due to how strong our squad was, we had probably the best second string line-up in PL history yet were 8 minutes away from being took to a replay, infact if my memory serves me right The Terriers looked more likely to win until Eidur rescued us. If we produce the line-up didierforever suggests I would consider hopping down to Ladbrokes and putting a cheeky couple of quid on a Scunny win (which hopefully I'll lose, but wouldn't be surprised if it came off).
  22. Neither was Lampard in 2014 but City snapped him up, his leadership would have made him appealing to come into the squad of teams I think.
  23. Sturridge broke in at Bolton, Ake broke in at Watford, Christensen broke in at Gladbach, if Bamford was good enough he would have got in at Palace if the other forward a were on form, let alone never scoring. I've never been a fan of going complete b teams in the FA, like I said a bitof rotation and a bit I youngster, but we saw with United and Sheffield earlier, Scunny aren't going to come here and get their bellies tickled, we will need a strong performance to nullify them, only need to look ten years ago against Huddersfield, our strongest ever squad, rotated heavily against a league one side, narrowly avoided a replay.
