  1. Fernandinho aswell, worst midfield performance I have ever seen.
  2. Whats this about him in midfield? It won't happen bar possibly the odd big game because .. A: Our defense needs upgrading and despite his flaws David a significant upgrade on Cahill and probably current JT too bar the leadership. B: Him in midfield doesn't actually work if we are playing anything other than counter attack. C: Conte wouldn't spend this much on a defender to play him out of position.
  3. I remember using similar stats at the time, up until Jose's return we were a much better defensive unit when David played and despite the occasional error our defense looked more comfortable with him in it.
  4. If only he was a few years younger, Conte is just the type of manager he has needed all through his career. At 25 Antonio would have had enough time to late bloomer him like he did Bonnuci, such a shame.
  5. Not sure, deadline day is a busy for a reason, a lot of openings can get created, none more so than Ozil and Falcao.
  6. I think some Eastern European countries have a couple of extra days but the big leagues shut tommorow, I could be wrong and never checked for sure but I think that is the case.
  7. Are you seriously comparing this summer to last? It's post like these that make me think people just have vendettas and will say anything to fit the agendas. Last year was a screw up no hiding from that, this year far from it, we have appointed one of the best managers in world football and probably the only one that can keep up with Pep and pre 3rd season Jose over 38 game's, we have signed the best CDM in the game since Makelele (I'm still pinching myself we got Kante, such a great player) and in Batshauyi coming in we have two quality strikers for the first time since the double season. Yes the defensive market has been frustrating, but other than that this has been a superb window and to compare it to last summer ishugely insulting to Bats and N Golo, in fact if we somehow pulled Kalidou off tommorow I would actually go as far as saying this window ecplises both 2012 and 2014.
  8. Why? He's likely going to get regular minutes at left wing back, which properly represents the best chance hes got of making it at this level.
  9. Luiz's problems were never the opposition, more was himself, apart from Suarez I can't recall a player ever taking him to the cleaners. At 29 I don't think he will completely erase that side of his game now, but if anyone can limit those moments and get a good season out of him it's Conte, if only Antonio had him earlier in his career. As far as short term panic buys go, could be a lot worse.
  10. I think its because as the Belgium members alluded too they can't afford to throw money at a big name. Also as his first season at Everton showed, if Martinez leaves the defense alone and focuses on the attack, he can get some decent results, Wilmots couldn't get the best out of Hazard and KDB at international level, Martinez is someone who could. If he leaves the defense as it is and doesn't try and make his own stamp on it, I can see this appointment working.
  11. If it was up to me we would sign a right back, Fabinho would be ideal but that's not happening. Purely because Azpi is a better defender at LB than RB, the defenders is frail enough at is it without weakening it further.
  12. Probably because a lot of fullbacks with pace can't defend to save their life and the one's that can cost a bomb.
  13. AVB and Jose mark 2 were given months to turn things round and weren't sacked until there was absolutely no choice. Even if he struggles initially but he's showing signs of promise and you can see a clear blueprint in the direction the club is going under him but some of the players he inherited are holding him back for now (think Poch during his first season at Spurs) I'm pretty sure he will get the time. If he's one point of relegation at Christmas with the whole squad bar Willian and our reserve keeper suffering the worst form of their careers to date then yes he will be sacked and deservedly so.
  14. We wont struggle vs Arsenal, even last season they created nothing against us. Also did Antonio say first choice transfer targets or targets full stop? If its the former I'm guessing Maskimovic will be the one we try and get now.
  15. Well we shipped 6 in 4 against the same teams last season so 2 in 2 is already an improvement. I think people underestimate the difference Kante makes, he will help us control games more and the amount of times he cuts balls out before they can get to our defense is unreal.
  16. But flipping it around if Kante is amazing for 30 games and Hazard 19 that alone probably secures at least 3rd. Not to mention we have two reliable strikers for the first time since 09/10. The defenders may not have been upgraded on (yet) but the defence most certainly has been. Kante protecting them plus a manager who is proven at covering a teams weakness is a massive boost, how many clear cut chances did we give West Ham and Watford? WHU didn't get any and Watford got about two.
  17. If he doesn't he doesn't but it's important to have a decentish third keeper to cover our backs, one that can come in against whoever and not be phased. In recent ish times we have had to use our third choice vs Barca, Spurs, Arsenal, Inter and Liverpool, could you imagine facing those type of opponents with one of our academy lads? Would be carnage.
  18. Think back to all the manager sacking's, apart from possibly Ranieri, not one was sacked while he looked like he was heading the club in the right direction, the main reason was they were taking us backwards. If Conte is at absolute worst about 6th but their is clear positive signs he is taking us in a good direction and that we will reap the rewards when more deadwood is replaced by more of his players (think Poch first season at Spurs) i will put my all my savings that he won't be sacked. If he's one point of relegation, has our best ever squad unfit, overplays an already ageing squad to the point they stagnate, then yes maybe he will be sacked, but i can't see any of those things being a problem under Conte. Also the protection and tactics were even more a problem than the defense last season, both of which has been fixed, we have only actually conceded three clear chances to opposition in the two league games, yes two of them ended in goals but last season we were conceding chances for fun.
  19. Nah, people with contrasting opinions keeps things interesting, trolls who most likely support other teams ruin this forum and scare of potential new members. We could be missing out on the next Peace, or worse lose the man himself, because of people like Gullit.
  20. an ex Man.Utd player being the username is just too obvious. And i won't complain feel free i think the staff do a great job on the whole, it's not a bad thing to believe in giving people chances but the negative side is the trolls get longer than they deserve.
  21. Well you've pretty much confirmed you ain't a Chelsea fan with that comment, bye bye
  22. It's obvious after a few post's, if they moan about one subject and never speak about anything else, that's a clear tell tale sign, its never really interested me but ill be tempted to apply next time a staff vacancy crops up, Gullit would have lasted a matter of days under my watch, if that.
