Jose had the same problems in overcoming an unbeaten Arsenal side & despatched them by winning the title by 12 points - there's no luck in that so don't see were you are coming from? I already stated that Jose benefited from some of Ranieri signing namely the great Makelele but he also introduced Drogba, Carvalho, Ferreira & promoted Cech to the number 1 keeper ahead of an already quality one in Cudicini, he then gave that side confidence & a will to win, motivation, made them think they were the best team in the world, that's why he ALSO managed it in his first season. Jose is not happy with his squad at Real Madrid & made noises in Jan transfer window, this is despite the previous manager spending 220m so he clearly wants to add his own stamp on them by signing some new acquisitions. Jose will not settle for 2nd & will strive to get passed them, most people will probably agree that there's no disgrace In coming second best to arguably the best footballing side ever but Jose will strive to find a way to topple them. I will not comment on the rest of you're last post as I think we are going round in circles & am getting dizzy now!

I think you will find that I responded to you're original post & I quote - 'Mourinho's tactical mastery would mean nothing without ROMAN'S MILLIONS' So I put a counter argument to you stating that winning titles is NOT just about being given a pot of gold as Ranieri never managed it despite spending more than Jose & if you want more proof of Jose success without spending large amounts of cash then look at his achievements at Porto before he was installed as our manager. I think you are digging yourself into a hole because you seem to have taken my posts into a different context even suggesting that I am turning this thread into a ' Mourinho did better than Rainieri' when I was merely pointing out & correctly that Mourinho spent money but made us into Champions which is something not every manager can do, you only have to look at Man City's last 2 managers, or Real Madrid when they went 4 years without a trophy early this century or Inter before they started there recent revival. You say you are not being disrespectful of Jose but then make comments like he is tactically nothing without Romans millions - well I think that is a contradiction & also state that he is not the only manager that could of lead us to success - well that may of been so but the facts are he did lead us to success, yes Jose not Ranieri nor Joe blinking public. You might not see coming 2nd to Barca as an under achievement & I can see were your coming from but trust me Jose will, as he strives to be the best because he has that winning mentality something he installs into his teams to make them winners.

If we have any hope of winning the Prem then this is a must win game whatever formation & team Ancelotti selects. An emphatic victory would put some real pressure on Man U but a narrow win would suffice. Arsenal now have no pressure on them & that could work in our favour, well let's hope so anyway. Spurs will come & have a go which will make for an entertaining game. We have to be careful as they have 2 fantastic wingers in Bale & Lennon who can cause problems on either flank but by the same token that's can be an area we can exploit as they will leave space for us to get behind them. Redknapp is shit scared of Drogba who must start with his current form, if Ramires is fit he has to play because he can provide cover for Ivanovich & has the engine & pace to get forward. We must also stop Modric who is quality, the likes of Essien or Mikel must be on the top of their game to stop the supply, Lampard must also put in a shift. Going to be tough & I cannot even begin to speculate who Ancelotti will pick for this game as he has some tough choices to make he may well go with a very attacking line up. Let's just hope he gets it right & we come away with the much needed 3 points.

Yep, Ranieri spent approximately 120m compared to Mourinho's 80m'ish in their first season under Roman. Sorry fella but finishing 2nd after spending 120m is a failure in my book & when you compare it to Jose's first season of winning the Prem & league cup, & getting knocked out in the semi-finals of the CL to a goal that never was then there's a huge difference, although Ranieri signed the likes of Makelele so he has to be given credit but Jose was the one who made it happen not Roman, nor Ranieri.
-
Uh incase you've forgotten Ranieri spent more in his only season with Roman in power than Jose did & failed. Arsene's new project? What the very same team that won the title the year before without losing a single game. Agreed about Man U but how many records did we make that season, most points & least goals conceded were 2 I can remember off the top of my head.

- Hiddink to return as sporting director. - Drogba must not be sold. - Lampard & Essien to be free from injury & return to form. - Right & Left wingers with pace please! Possibly a playmaker dependant on the emergence of MacEachran & in Jan Piazon. - Bruma to be converted to a RB. - Sturridge must be given a run. - Senior players to be dropped when out of form & the younger players given opportunitys instead. - Hierarchy to stay out of footballing decisions - Go back to signing players of the managers choice. - Bosingwa, Maloulda & Kalou to be sold. If Ancelotti stays - - Select the right team & formation, especially for tough CL games. - Drop the senior players when needed/give youngsters more opportunitys. - Play 3 at the back when teams come to the Bridge & put 10 men behind the ball or 'park the bus' - Bring forwards in when behind in games not a RB or a holding midfielder! - Ferreira to given a role on the coaching staff. - A new coach that has tactical awareness & can also motivate & aid the players mental state. - Grow some bollocks & make sure he is no longer undermined. Lastly sign Messi! Oh & some free hospitality tickets would be nice with some fit models as my personal waitresses!

Made me chuckle kez, that was right out of my book!

I havnt read all the post on this thread so I will apologize for being ignorant in that respect, my original post was directed at some of the post above mine & others that I have read on other threads. Lastly you say that I 'became aggressive' but you use phrases like 'jog on' I think you should look at you own scribbing before making accusations about others.
-
We owe Roman for our recent success without question but it still needed the right person to buy the right talent, motivate them & make them winners - which he did in his first season & to go 3 years with us unbeaten at home is also a record that will never be matched, that was some achievement that has also gone unnoticed.
-
Well tell me who you were referring too then as you're comments were in direct comparison to mine? If you can prove you' re comments were not directed at my first post I will gladly apologize. Flame an argument ? Are you paranoid? I was responding to you're post with some facts regarding Jose's talent and how we still owe him for setting down some foundations nothing to do with starting a meaningless argument, get real man.
-
Cheers TX.

Jog on? Spade a spade? When was the last time we won a title before Jose reign? Yeah a cool 50 years! We are still benefiting from his foundations - 4 years later! It's you're prerogative to say as you feel & the very same for every poster on here including me but when or if I don't agree with some disrespectful posts I will make MY feelings known & if you are party to that then I want hold back with you either. Oh & yes you are quite correct that it is 4 years since the great man 'jogged on' but how many of the current squad were pivotal in the double winning success of last season or the the FA cup winners from 2009 that were signed by Jose or got then playing to the best of their ability & you can include Cech in that, even though he didn't sign him but he promoted him ahead of Cudicini who was rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the Prem at the time. Jose on!
-
I think there are to many on here that suffer from amnesia or have selective memorys? I didn't any see negative comments last season when Jose's Inter knocked out Barca last season, infact he was heralded as a tactical genius because of it, yet now he employs the same tactics against arguably the best footballing side ever he gets slated! The last time he went toe to toe with Barca they got thumped 5 nil, so he is hardly going to throw the kitchen sink at them ffs! That said Barca antics are atrocious & embarrassing to watch. I find it annoying when when posters on here are throwing negative comments about a manager that brought us our first title, then back to back titles & finished off with a cup double in final season & if it wasn't for an horrendous injury list that season including injuries to the best keeper in the world at the time & the best back up keeper then we may well of won a treble! We weren't always boring to watch either, we played some great stuff at times but when Robben, Duff & Joey Cole were injured Jose had to revert to a different formation that WAS successful, the negative was that Jose never let his sides go on to winning with a bigger margin & that's one thing that I can applaud Ancelotti for doing. I've been a Chelsea fan for twice as long as some have been born on here & had to go through many seasons of heartache, so when a manager comes along like Mourinho & brings you a Prem title that you never thought would happen in your lifetime you become attached to him, he may never be our manager again & possibly is part of our history but the guys a winner & should command nothing but respect from every Chelsea fan for his achievements & trophies that he brought to our club, sometimes people are far too ignorant & cannot see the wood for the trees! Rant over!

Cech - 7 Ivanovich - 6 Luiz - 7 JT - 7 Cole - 7 Essien - 6 Lampard - 6 Mikel - 6 Kalou - 3 Maloulda - 5 Drogba - 8 Benayoun - 5 Anelka - 5 Torres - 9 Thought our midfield were poor yesterday, too many estranged passes & Mikel was the worst culprit, twice he gave the ball away were West ham nearly scored from the second of which was when Keane missed that sitter! How did Kalou get to stay on for so long? Maloulda did fuckall for most of it apart from a miss from a simple chance & then gets away with some flack because he lashes one in at the end - granted a great finish but what did he actually do before that? Torres totally changed the game when he came on, scored 1, should of had 2 assists instead of the 1. That cameo will do wonders for his confidence & that can only be to our benefit. Torres came on at the right time because on another day we could of dropped points as West Ham missed several decent chances.

Cech - 7 Ferreira - 7 Luiz - 5 JT - 7 Cole - 6 Essien - 7 Lampard - 5.5 Mikel - 7 Kalou - 7 Maloulda - 7.5 Drogba - 8 Bertrand - 7 Anelka - 4 Torres - 4

Sturridge for his form at errr.........................Bolton! Only 3 players can hold their heads up & say that they have played to their potential this season. Cech gets my vote not just because he has been our best player but to finally put that injury behind him is a measure of the guys determination to get back to his best. You could split hairs between lvanovich & JT, both have had consistent performances throughout. Drogba is now getting back & deserves a mention in my book, perhaps things could of been so different if he hadn't suffered a belt of Malaria?
-
Tbh I couldn't care less about Arsenal & with their run in & current form they have no chance, even though It's unlikely that we will the Prem, Arse must beat Man U to give us any hope of winning it.
-
Why on earth would you want a draw? Not another fishing attempt by any chance?! Whilst we still have an outside chance of winning the league surely ever Chelsea fan must want an Arse win against scum u, its hardly any difference in coming 2nd or 3rd, bit of luck & who knows.

Ancelotti's position has promoted so many debates on this site, across many threads and for the large part been intriguing to read apart from some of the cheap shots that were totally unnecessary, i would like to add my final two penneth on his future. I can see both sides of the argument and there has been some logical defence from both sides on several threads, i think that there are many fans on here that are like me that are right on the borderline that cannot separate a cigarette paper in terms of him staying/leaving but are steering slightly to one side or the other. I actually criticized him last season, although i cannot back that up with evidence but i can also state that i ate a large slice of humble pie at the end of last season concerning his management skills and Malouda's form as both proved me wrong and i was man enough to admit it on the forum where i post and will do the same if Mikel becomes the player that Jose thought he was! (that ones for you eldo, LDN, Styles, clevemayer amongst others :eyebrows: ) but i will still favour a change even if by some miracle we win the league this season. My point is, if Ancelotti stays then i WILL give him my 100% support next season, he won us the double last season so he deserves credit because those achievements have been forgotten. However i say this with regret that i am actually in favour of a change of management because i do not see us winning the CL under Carlo as i think when it comes down to it against teams that are as good as we are, with a very capable manager Ancelotti gets out thought, yes i know he has beaten Utd before with us in the league but this is a knock out competition where there are only 2 games to gain qualification not 38. I accept we cannot win the league every season but with our expensively assembled squad i think its a minimum requirement to qualify for the CL, which we are on course for. However for me Ancelotti has failed miserably in the CL, our performances against Inter and Utd back that up in the last 2 seasons and i don't see that changing next season unless he improves his tactical awareness and stands up to the hierachy so he ensures that it is HIS decisions on everything concerning football matters. It doesn't help either with Ancelotti now contradicting himself by saying that squad wasn't big strong enough as he has stated that he was happy with those decisions and said he wanted to bring down the average age of the squad and start using our youth players only for the likes of the very talented Sturridge to go out on loan?! Ancelotti cannot use any excuse about the squad as he is at the helm, he is the one that should made those decisions like Jose did mainly before a seasons end, instead he has waited til now almost the end of April and possibly the worst under Romans tenure to admit the squad was not strong enough when he is the person who was/IS responsible for making those decisions, and again he is the person in the chair then he MUST stand up to his superiors and ensure those decisions are made at the right time. Lastly i will gladly eat more humble pie if he stays next season and delivers the CL and turns our fortunes around, i hope those on here who are in my boat will do the same and like wise to those pro Carlo fans if he remains and we do not improve next season.....................tick tock!
-
It has to be Utd for me, mainly because i have had to put up with so many armchair fans over their successful period, they like to 'give it large' when it's going fine and dandy for them but then go missing for months when they are having a shit season which unfortunately is not very often!
-
Agreed LDN but the manager has to make a stand and take back ownership of his role. Mourinho now has more power than any manager at Real Madrid has for decades because he simply won't stand for any interference. Ancelotti was used to the board meddling in Milan so i think this debacle will continue under his management much to our detriment. Also a good point made by zolayes about Kenyon, it was much to our advantage back in those days when Jose would give him a list of transfer targets during the last few months of a seasons end for him to go out in the close season to ensure we got some of those acquisitions, we didn't stand still then, constantly improving a very talented squad even though we won the title..........thats what makes teams successful and one point i would throw at the hierachy if i was in Carlo's position.
-
You made a good point about Robben, one that I've mentioned on another thread but we do need an offensive playmaker which can make that space, that opens up games with vision & creativity. The problems we have at home & even away are because sides won't attack us, therefore putting 10 men behind the ball, this happens all the time & we don't need to play with 4 at the back & with 1 or 2 DM's. We need to play with a back 3 & attacking fullbacks & getting players further up the pitch to get that 1st goal in order to get teams to come out. Not saying this formation for every game but for ones when sides won't come out offensively.
