Di Maria played for Carlo when Modric and Alonso sitting behind him, so he was the more attacking-minded, advanced midfielder in a 3-men midfield. Like Iniesta in Barcelona with Xavi-Busquets. But anyway, Cesc playes a different role here. At least this season he played in the pivot in about 80% of the games. The players who played the more similar role to Di Maria's are Oscar/Willian, if Mourinho want he can use them more in central midfield, so it will be like 'Di Maria's role'.

He didnt say he needs to do everything each game. Vidal can tackle and do industrial job, bring the ball forword, join attacks, i see no wrong in what he wrote. He also didnt described a perfect CM, he didnt say he needs to be an amazing playmaker/passer. I think he meant a top box to box CM.
-
@JimWhite Sources close to Oscar say the player will be staying at Chelsea for now and there have been NO talks with Juventus - SSN
-
It sound like Vidal type of player, a name he also wrote.
-
I agree about the type of CM we should get. But Cesc wont be dropped in the big games and he shouldnt, he'll play infront of the pivot. Pogba/Koke/Vidal are far from available though, and Roma are about to agree a deal with Cagliari for the full rights of Nainggolan. Allan of Udinese would be my pick, and he'll cost about 18m Euros.

hmm... what? both posts kind a got me confused. Di Maria last season played the attacking midfielder role in a 3-men midfield, similar to our #10. Cesc played most games next to Matic in the pivot. And in the 2nd half of the season Willian was given the #10 role when Oscar was benched/injured.

Im trying to figure out what reports, i think that as usual they're making stuff up. Only real source for a Witsel move today was Goal's reporter Greg Srobart.
-
I think it will be Mandzukic, Dybala, Zaza, Morata.
-
They wont go with Dybala, Zaza, Berardi and Morata, that would be awful for them. Tevez scored 29 goals last season in all competitions, you cant replace that with 3 young players. Di Marzio already reported Juve have an agreement with Mandzukic in case Tevez leaves. They also tried Cavani earlier.

Telegraph: "Despite the fact De Bruyne could leave Wolfsburg for double what they paid for him, Cheslea have no regrets over letting him leave. De Bruyne claimed he was not told why Jose Mourinho allowed him to go, but club officials at Cheslea insist the reasons were clear. It is understood De Bruyne told Cheslea ’s manager he was not mentally capable of having to compete on a daily basis for a place. De Bruyne [informed Jose Mourinho that he] needed to play in every game to show his best form. Mourinho told De Bruyne he would have to fight for place like the rest of Cheslea players & that is when the player asked to leave".

Tevez looks set to go back to Boca. Huge loss for Juventus, who probably gonna get Mandzukic.
-
According to Duncan Castles, Gurdian and Telegraph we are looking at Samuel Umtiti, the 21 yo French CB/LB of Lyon. Should be very talented. Defender who plays CB and LB is probably the best solution if Luis will be sold. But he's very young, experience-wise he's like Zouma.

No im not saying you cant criticize (and save the words for someone who cares). The sentence i referred to in your post was "I thought it was about 'keeping the current squad'?", when you talk about Remy might be leaving. So my point is that if Remy wants to leave, its not Chelsea's or Jose's fault, because if Remy doesnt feel like competing with Falcao and Costa, thats his issue and his decision. You said you're welcoming a new striker, so what difference does it makes (for Remy) if its Falcao or anyone else? if it was Icardi or Dzeko he wouldnt want to leave (if he really is now)? and then we wouldnt keep the current squad as well. The point is that i dont get how can you blame the club if they cant "keep the current squad", simply because Remy wants more assurance of game time. Back-up players are always difficult to keep for a long time.
-
Those players (who considered world class) not looking available at all, only a major change in their clubs could make them available for us or for any club. Thats why i said the only options (for what you can call "top winger") are Sterling and Griezmann. As for CMs, i agree with you, i didnt say i wont be happy with Kondogbia, Allan, Naingollan etc, i will . You said world class, and when people say they want "world class signing" for CM, usually they mean Pogba, Modric, Verratti, players who wont come probably.
-
It sounded like you already can't wait to criticize Mourinho. If Remy wants to leave so he could be assured for more game time, like some of this articles suggests, than it's about him, it's his career decision, not Chelsea's. He and his fans (and I'm one of them) can't expect Mourinho to not bring anyone when Drogba leaves, a striker who played like 30 games last season. We can't and shouldn't do everything to keep Remy happy, with all the respect to him. But I'm sure Mourinho wants him to stay, like many articles suggests.
-
So it happend already? did we lose Remy? omg no!
-
Shortsighted? dont we have Diego Costa? Or Mourinho should decide between Lacazette/Costa for every game, when the other sits on the bench? and if not Lacazette (going to cost you 50m euros or probably more, a lot for a 2nd striker. and he wants to stay at Lyon), than who? 2 top strikers who are young and in their prime to play for a side that plays with one striker, its something that rarely works. And imo its not really needed. Remy and Falcao are more than enough for me.
-
There are very little options in market to what people call "World Class", in both positions. So i think a lot here should be prepared to the idea that the best RW we could bring now is Sterling and Griezmann (for 60m), and after them there's Costa, Firmino, maybe Anderson. And for CM, those you can get are Kondogbia, Gundogan, Allan, Schneiderlin. And Pogba, if you believe its a possible deal for the club.
-
Inter? yes, but Milan have money, they will get some great players im almost sure.
-
Milan target list - Kondogbia, Jackson Martinez (done deal they say), Imbula, Miranda, Turan, Zlatan. Inter are also in for Miranda and Imbula. Its annoying, because I would actually like everyone of Kondogbia, Imbula, Miranda and maybe Turan in Chelsea. If we want any of those i would of guess we'll get them, so hope we'll get just as good CMs and CBs, or better.
-
lol after one game... priceless @DiMarzio It's really close the deal between @ChelseaFC and @AS_Monaco: @FALCAO on loan to Chelsea and #Pasalic on loan to #Monaco @FabrizioRomano Radamel Falcao agent and #Chelsea are in talks in these hours. He would arrive on loan by Monaco and Chelsea would pay his salary.

Willian was arguably the 2nd best player for Brasil last night, according to many, and also been included in the first round XI. Mentioning Fred and Willian in the same sentence is odd, especially if you saw yesterday's match. With Oscar and Coutinho injured i see no reason why Wiilain wouldnt start every game for Brasil. But Brasil should play Costa and Firmino, Fred and Tardelli cant offer too much. As for Costa, i always liked him and he's a good player, he can contribute in Chelsea, but I agree with WNDS about his decision making, not as intelligent as a Chelsea starting AM shoud be. Could be a decent squad option in the place of Cuadrado, if he's leaving, but i think Sterling got more potential as a starter.
-
Full quote from Allegri suggests Oscar is only one of his wanted players, and he was being asked about Oscar spesificly. Allegri: "I like Oscar, but I also like Isco, Pastore, Di Maria, Kroos - all the best players from the Champions League"
-
We're not getting Pogba, we won't pay the transfer fee and even more importantly the wages he demands, which are a lot more than what Hazard gets. Oscar should never be sold this summer unless we bring a top winger or CAM. We can't go with Hazard, Willian and Cuadrado + another squad option who's gonna be a gamble. Like him or not, Oscar was good for our attacking game last season, when he didn't play it was Ramires, Remy or Cuadrado, and we usually looked less flowing. Unlike them he links up great with Cesc, Willian and Hazard, that's not something you should just give up on imo. We saw that Schurlle, Salah and for now Cuadrado, couldn't do this. I also can't see Juve paying more than 35m euros for him, which is not enough.

Ohhh, that was quite romantic.
