For the double pivot we gonna be hard pressed to sign anyone whose more established to come to us knowing there's Kante,Jorginho and Kovavic ahead of them.which leaves a youngster trying to establish themselves.which Conor fits the bill.could always have someone like Ampadu who can also cover that spot incase, somebody who can cover multiple positions even though I think Ethan focusing on one position now might better his career than the current role of at best becoming this generations Clayton Blackmore.

Wonder what position Tuchel would try to use him.with so many of our players at the euros I can see why he'll give him a look this pre-season but would be surprised if he's actually in our 25 come the start of the season.good player but great clubs do let good players leave.
-
Him or/Mbappe would be only additions I'd go for in our frontline.we have the money and prestige to pull it off.others with prestige are shopping in the bargain buckets.go for it Tommy T and Roman! For Haaland think something like 80-100m and one or two fringe players they may like should be enough but Dortmund don't always do the sensible thing when players are allowed to leave e.g. Not selling players when they can then only seeing them join Bayern for free.

Champions League Final 2021 - Man City 0-1 Chelsea
Duppy Conqueror replied to Jase's topic in Champions Archive
Last time was with bigger names but still more a collection of cup upsets,as for most of those big names it was their last hurrah.but in some ways it was like Greece winning the 2004 euros,we were champions of Europe but nowhere near the best team in Europe. This season I'd say we still weren't the best team in Europe due to our league season but we did perform like worthy champions during our European nights.and unlike 2012 this is the start not the end of glory years with the majority of this squad. -
I wouldn't loan him out.the injury he had and Tuchel needing to steady the ship and catch up as much as possible I think were the factors in him not playing enough this last season.he's ahead of the curve, mature beyond his years like Reece is although could argue mental understanding of the game Billy is ahead of RJ as RJ can find himself out of position when defending and his pace helps him recover.Billy is probably the most football mature teenage player we've had since Ray Wilkins. He'll get more time with us next season.

I honestly wouldn`t trust Bats to poach an egg anymore. I`d prefer us to just roll with a youth player up front if we find ourselves in a position where Giroud or Tammy aren`t available.
-
delighted by this move, classy player that will get bums off seats.and a fookin` bargain in todays market. abit of a shame that Ajax couldn`t keep the squad together to really return to the big time. spent a lot of time in Amsterdam in my younger days so have abit of a soft spot for them, but of course if they gonna break up that squad, rather them come to us that go elsewhere..got a feeling he won`t be the last Ajax player joining us. Van de Beek would be nice..
-
i wouldn`t get rid of Kepa just yet and don`t believe the media reports where they suggest he won`t get another chance this season. but we do need to give him a proper rival for the starting birth. having Rob Green and Willy C..he hasn`t exactly had to fight for his place. not saying we should spend 50m plus but just somebody who Kepa would know he has to be on his A game or risk not playing for an extended period of time, perhaps permanently for us. there`s always the chance of a longterm injury too we need to be prepared for.
-
would have liked to have seen him play infront of RJ at times. overlapping and covering each other.if I was Lamptey I would welcome playing that role too..England are set at RB with so much depth.would have a better chance getting in as a RW. the writing was on the wall when Frank kept him at basically just 3rd choice RB.

tears of joy when young Reece scored the equalizer, even though I didn`t make it to the game this time nor see the goal on TV,it was at the exact moment my daughter was born. sounds like I would have loved the comeback even if going 4-1 down at home would have straightened out my usual pre-game float.
-
I had high hopes for him when he signed but hard to tell how mentally strong a player is until he`s at your club and under the microscope.
-
All good managers lie atleast twice a day. He says he'll see how they do but they obviously don't all start in pole position. Drinkwater is clearly at the back of the grid but there's no need for Frank to stray from his message by singling one out. Wait until Frank has revealed his hand, to see what he really has, but bear in mind no manager is going to have the exact squad he wants in his first year even without the transfer ban.
-
Wish we would be actively pursuing him, even if the ban sticks like as to date it has, we can still buy him. Bayern just waiting for him to become a free agent. We will still need him when the ban is either expired or overturned. Wonder how it would work though if we signed him while having to wait a year before registering him at which time his contract with Leipzig would have ended. P. S. We should be all over de ligt too with Juve trying to get him on the cheap and dare I say Havertz. All 3 we could use in near future if unable to now.

Welcome home Frankie & Jodie. The latter needs to be a good number 2 with our current situation but I don't see the same as others when they say this is a big risky hire. To me a foreign coach with no idea of what we have on our books besides our end of career players or more importantly as was reported about Sarri, an unwillingness to discover. Coupled with an experienced coach that forces his system on players that don't get the best out of them is more of a risk. All come with a risk but I see this as the less risky option for us in our current situation.

it was basically sign him or sign no-one. I`d probably have not signed anyone and gave the time to the likes of Palasic instead but not in a wtf did we do that frame of mind for about it. he was vanilla last year but system was only really geared for Jorginho to shine in (even tho that didn`t really work out) really think Frank will be a sensible HC and not try to force players into positions and roles they are not suitable for so see how it goes.

Carefree wherever we may be...

not being able to smoke a fag in the stadium messed with his head. after the Kepa incident I`m surprised he didn`t spark up there and then. result wise he did an o.k job...the thing that bugged me most was his statement he wouldn`t change his tactics till we perfected it..like why change if it`s perfected? adapt till you find a solution not keep trying something that isn`t working holding out hope someday it will..no plan B is pretty poor.

Reece should be in the match day squad every time he`s fit.have been saying it for years that with 7 subs named we really should have atleast 2 youngsters on the bench every game..5 veterans is more than enough.the times we have been 3-0 up against the likes of West Brom and see the likes of Pedro or Willian coming on for the last 20 minutes would be far better giving some youngsters that time. and of course Reece can play atleast 2 different positions well.it would be very much on merit I`m sure. I don`t really care about what Lampard did as a player in regard to him becoming our next coach,i believe he will do the sensible things these stubborn and rigid puppet master coaches were too afraid to do.and that`s what I want for us.
-
i said Roman respects footballers more meaning who has played for us during his time as owner..Roman didn`t know Chelsea when RDM was in his pomp.
-
for me Roman has always respected footballers above coaches. he probably respects Lampard above any coach he`s hired for us before. we don`t need a puppet master coach ,those are for teams with weaker talent (i know we aren`t the most talented of squads any more, but coupling the fact that we now require to use a fair few of those we have loaned out,our squad would be stronger) look at all Lampard has played with he`s had pretty much every kind of personality of player in the dressing room. e.g Drogba,Ballack,Crespo,JT, Ashley and Joe Cole,Gerrard,Scholes,Rio etc... i don`t expect us to go deep into the European Cup campaign,i`m not entirely expecting us to even finish 3rd in the Premier League but am expecting us to look in a much better position to challenge in year two than i would have expected with a more rigid puppet master coach like Jose,Conte or Sarri.
-
if we were a well run club rather than the worse run of the major European clubs this transfer ban wouldn`t have been a problem in way of preventing us as serious challengers. two windows is not long, but we have so much to change about our squad it is a huge problem and with so much great young talent at selling clubs ready to go.i`d say this transfer window has the most talent available in it for many years, perhaps since transfer windows began...but we are out of it because of the way we allegedly run our buy kids-to loan the shit out of-to then sell for a profit rather than playing for us policy. from a playing stand point we didn`t even gain from what we are being punished for.
-
we are kinda run like an Italian club..coach picks the team others pick the players to buy, club loans the shit out of anyone under 26..still classed as a young player with no need to replace them until they are around the 33 year old range. can see why the club is attracted to Italian coaches but it`s not good to utilize the great young talent we have on our books. the club doesn`t help with them having the history they do of being ruthless and sacking 1 bad season removed from a league title and such but really I`m not sure even if they were told don`t worry about winning major trophies every year, build something for the future that they would really give under 25`s a fair run of games. I`m not expecting it but I think we could do with throwing out the must have an impressive CV to be a candidate (I know it could be argued we did with hiring Sarri) and think outside the box,try and avoid coaches that have won with one formula.those often can have a better looking CV but look at what Low did with Germany,Southgate has done with England,Zidane with Real,OGS with Man U none of those would have had the best CV of those available.they have replaced coaches with better CV`s but had better results, they can come in and simplify things, some coaches can over complicate things, make teams rigid, force them to try and play a different way.

SEEEEEEEAAGUUUUUULLS..SEEEEEEEEAAGUUUUUULLS. 2-0 brighton against Man u..aint only us and Arsenal with dodgy defending..Man U let in 2 to Murray and Duffy in the space of 40 seconds.

Stewart Robson was talented for his age group as a teenager but injuries meant he never fulfilled what he might have been but he lost his DM place at Arsenal to Steve Williams who was quality, on merit. Jorginho surpassed Robson at his best about 3 years ago..is like Micky Droy knocking JT.
