  1. Tony McAndrew....one of a large number of Celts to play for us over the years..especially in the `80`s
  2. yeah..just pulling your chain man..
  3. wouldn`t that make him about 94...i`m not sure if i`d even want Pele or Garrincha if they were 94...:eyebrows: i do agree with the other stuff tho..would be some serious energy in our team and especially our midfield with say Essien,Ramires & Lampard as the main starting three behind Malouda,Drogba & Kakuta/Neymar..Ash & Bos making forward forays as much as possible. etc..
  4. haha..plenty of times i`ve found a Chelsea story, only to rush over here with it and find somebody else has already posted it... i`m sure even stupid Man City are starting to think about 20 midfielders is enough for them...i agree tho he would make a great addition, then i would close the book on buying anymore midfielders, unless it`s say somebody really special like Ozil.
  5. *according to the Daily Mail* Chelsea have made a £20 million move for Brazilian World Cup star Ramires. Barclays Premier League champions want to head off interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona and hope a deal can be agreed quickly for the man affectionately known as the 'Blue Kenyan' in Brazil. Ramires: Brazil's surprise hit at the World Cup Manchester City were reported to have also shown interest in the 23-year-old, but his representatives say they have had no contact and that Ramires sees Chelsea as a 'dream move'. Chelsea have also bid £17m for Brazilian wonderkid Neymar, but his club Santos want nearer £30m. The 18-year-old is known to be interested in the transfer, and may force his owners' hand on the matter. Ramires , full name Ramires Santos do Nascimento, has had an impressive first season with Benfica, winning a league and cup double, and shooting to fame at the World Cup after a surprise call from coach Dunga. His dogged displays and hard-running from a right midfield position caught the eye. Dunga said he was sorely missed after a booking in the fiesty group match with Portugal ruled him out of Brazil's quarterfinal defeat by Holland. Chelsea made their first enquiry about him before the World Cup, aware Ramires would soon become a target for their rivals, but have now backed that up with a hard offer. Ramires said: 'My agent has told me that a number of clubs are interested in signing me. We all know that the World Cup is the perfect stage to prove your worth. It would be a dream for me to play for a big club such as Barcelona, Real Madrid or Chelsea.' Enlarge Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti needs to strengthen his midfield after losing Joe Cole and Michael Ballack, and with Deco due to return to Brazil. Although he has brought in Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun, Ancelotti knows Ramires can give him options in various positions and, crucially, is young enough to improve further. He could also play a role in Ancelotti's ambitious plan to sign compatriot Kaka from Real Madrid. Ramires earned his nickname 'Blue Kenyan', or Queniano Azul, at Cruzeiro, due to their blue strip and fans saying he had the endurance of a Kenyan marathon runner. He claims he honed his running skills as a child. 'When I was a kid, I was always running away from my grandmother,' he said. 'If I didn't run, I'd get spanked.' A box-to-box midfielder with pace, Ramires is strong in the tackle and creates chances, as he did by dribbling through Chile's defence to set up Robinho in Brazil's 3-0 World Cup win. Such displays will soon have the Blues cheering their very own marathon man. Chelsea have already lost goalkeeper Peter Cech for the start of the season, after he tore a calf muscle in his right leg. The 28-year-old, who was injured in training on Tuesday and is likely to be out for a month, will be replaced by Hilario.
  6. Jacob Mellis starting for England v Netherlands..just kicked off this minute,on Eurosport UK. Good luck Jacob!
  7. according to ChelseaTV the same players who were involved on Saturday are gonna be involved in Amsterdam on friday..(plus Benayoun & Zhirkov and minus Cech obviously) including Di Santo..so he will have atleast one more chance to show "something".
  8. honestly dude, get a grip..if buy, buy, buy is all you want, jump off our bandwagon and jump on Man City`s! we didnt invest the millions upon millions in Cobham and the Academy for us to keep buying like we did in the past. for a fan of Chelsea for 30 years, through two relegations and years of mediocracy,to hear people with such a doom and attitude now of all times..is tiresome, to put it politely.
  9. it could be a case of 1) Carlo classing only Centre Forwards as Strikers...and Neymar more of a Wing Forward like Malouda has played and/or 2) we may be trying to sign him this transfer window..but thats not to say that if we sign him now,he will play for us this season.
  10. they just announced on ChelseaTV Petr has a tear in his calf..expected to be out for a month...luckily apart from the Community Shield we don`t have to play any top teams in that time span.
  11. i have/had my reservations...his built that has already been mentioned is one..but that wasn`t my biggest, with the professional staff we have they will know how to help him bulk up and at 18 he obviously isn`t fully grown yet... up until today i thought of him as a great prospect, which he is but i was concerned because the footage i have seen of him as i had seen him as being a purely left footed player..(how many left footed players have we already on the books ?..about 10 i think..)... since the news came out that we have made a bid on him ,i have dug up all the footage i can find on him tho ,and what i see is although his left foot seems to be his strongest he is more than adequate on his right foot too..he is very much a two footed player..who could play on the right side of a front 3 if they decide to play Kakuta on the left side...i think i would prefer Lukaku than him..as i`m convinced he has the physical tools aswell as the skill set to succeed but signing him or atleast signing him and getting him to join us to play this year seems a non-starter so we have to wait on him (would love to sign him now and loan him straight back ) however if Neymar could bulk up and if he has the mental capacity for the PL..then he would be huge for us..and could possibly take Zola title as best player ever....once Drogba & Anelka have gone a front 3 of Kakuta,Lukaku & Neymar (with Sturridge,Borini & Mitrovic in the rotation) on song, would be unplayable..each player would be too much for just one defender so what would teams do..play with a 6 defenders? and that`s not including our midfield..attacking fullbacks etc.. it`s always a gamble spending big bucks on teenagers..but the rewards could be priceless. not sure if i would make the deal that is needed to get him..but if they pull it off, i will get behind it wholeheartedly and hope for the best...i would also give him atleast 2 years to evolve into a starter before i would brandish him a flop,if he struggles at first to adapt like he may very well do.
  12. aah i see Manuf..well that sounds a good law to have....is nice for youth teams to win games, tournaments etc..but is the end product that is always gonna matter most..
  13. to be fair tho, Bruma & Van Aanholt are good young defenders that would have qualified for that tournament but it seems they decided to not pick them because they have grown past that age group (talent wise, not age)..that certainly seems to be why they didn`t pick Bruma..don`t know if that applied to PVA too, but i would think it did.
  14. he didn`t seem that bothered by it when interviewed on ChelseaTV after it had happened...Daily Snail just as usual, making a mountain out of a mole hill.
  15. i just Wiki`d him..he`s had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus...is currently playing at his 18th club...
  16. it won`t happen at the bridge..Chelsea fans start trends rather than follow them.
  17. i think all the girls remember Mark...he was a pretty boy.. i remember him for his goal at Shite Hart Lane in a 6-1 Blues win and a goal against Galatasary.
  18. well, if nobody else is gonna mention him i guess it`s down to me...Ladies and Gentlemen..... i give you...*drum roll* loaned from Cannes in 1998 he had the unwanted stat of every time he scored, we lost against teams we hate..(West Ham & Leeds) i give you Laurent Charvet... 11 apps 2 goals . Was on the bench in Stockholm for our second European Cup Winners Cup win...joined Di Matteo in that dodgy dyed pissy blonde head hair with dark eyebrows look. at the end of his loan spell he stayed in England..well if you can class Newcastle as England..they certainly don`t speak English... and played in the 1999 FA Cup final for them, leaving in 2000 to start a 3 year spell with Man City.
  19. just to add that should he leave,it will only be on a loan..theres no way it would lead to him leaving permanently..he`s rated far too highly at the club for them to sell him.
  20. i`m laughing at them...they not only think they got Joe Cool `03-`08 circa...but on SSN they bringing up their history yet again... to go to Liverpool he needs to be paid more than anywhere else to compensate for lack of future medals and also the fact that he`s gonna have to replace his car & house contents on a regular basis.
  21. Keep shining those Chelsea medals Joey..they are the last you will ever win in football now.
  22. ah,knew they had signed Kjaer but not the others...that kinda blows that out the water then..unless any of them have picked up long term injuries since signing on then its a non starter. of course not all of those names listed are CB`s but theres enough there already..to keep Bruma out of making many starts.
  23. fair play Kenyon never seemed shy about spending other peoples money..perhaps Gourlay is more concienscous(sic?) and has looked at the entire list of employees, their roles etc..and seen many cases of more people being employed than need to be..it`s not nice people losing their jobs etc..but it`s all part of business and does not necessarily mean the clubs going down the pan etc...just good business sense, from the point of view of the business itself.. i must admit i have no idea how many people are currently employed by Chelsea altogether tho..i think if we did then it may help to explain these things better, but i doubt if people who are needed most for the good of the club will be let go.
  24. interesting times ahead.. i think unlike the previous loaned out players, where the club have mostly been more hopeful than sure that they have a long term future with us..it`s pretty clear that this loan move would be purely about speeding up the development of a young player that they rate very highly and and already are sure is a big part of our future 1st team squad.
  25. Arsenal lack ambition because they actually have billionaire owners too..infact, between all the people on their board they have more money than Roman..they also have a 60,000 seater stadium that sells out but they don`t put title winning teams together because they make a profit anyway, so keep their hands in their pockets and rely way too much on cheap youngsters from the French and Spanish leagues rather than spend money that they need to spend to seriously chase titles.. they call Ash, Cashley because it rhymes with his first name and its a lot easier to accept publicly than one of their best players left to join a better club...Chelsea had just won their second consecutive Premiership title when he joined.so it`s fair to say that he was going to a side that showed they were better equipped to give provide him with medal winning oppurtunities. Deco left as you admit for footballing reasons.... Joe left because he was refused a pay-rise to become one of the clubs top earners, when his performances didn`t justify it... he has spoken with plenty of teams who have offered him good chances of starting and at clubs better equipped to compete for trophies than Liverpool...i wouldn`t have liked it but all things considered and him being a North London boy (despite him being a Chelsea season ticket holder as a youngster) i would have accepted it if he joined one of them ,as it would have been a pure football decision with both North London teams in the Champions league , both play football that suits his style etc....but just like many have said apart from Liverpool ...he`s being unrealistic in his wage demands. he threw away the chance of ever winning another medal...but it`s his life to live as he sees fit...he shows up at the bridge in a Liverpool shirt tho and he`s getting it asmuch as the other scouse cunts...no hero`s return welcome will he get because he just don`t deserve it...the ol` Joe Cole was much loved but the new Joe Cole is just as much a cunt as the players and fans of the team he looks to be joining.
