  1. Cristiano Ronaldo: Bought at £12million, sold at £80million My point being is, while these facts portray us in a good light, we're not innocent over spending. We've overpaid a lot over recent years, so we shouldn't be so hypocritical. Also. Take into account player-price inflation.. Essien would be worth £30 million & Drogba would be around the same. Total of near £60 million at least by now.
  2. Exactly. Brilliant post & summed up his role perfectly.
  3. Rumour at the moment: Away kit will be unveiled tomorrow.
  4. I retract my Mikel comment earlier on further reflection. Mikel is one of the best holding midfield players in the league at the moment. Most consistent, improved and reliable players we've had in recent years.
  5. Not saying I condone for the £50million for Torres. But if Torres isn't worth that money, Henderson & Carroll aren't by a miles.. That's my point, not the actual money
  6. Di Santo failed to make an impression in any of his loan teams. Look at him now, still not good. Rajkovic is having problems with getting a work permit afaik. Hope you're wrong about Kakuta & Bruma though.
  7. £23million isn't a bad fee for Suarez in context of the other 2. He's been a great signing for them (hate to say it).
  8. Yes he is, no doubt about it. Essien was better pre-injury though. I think I might be a bit naiive in saying this, but I think he could recapture that form he had as a holding. Mikel is younger though, so that's a benefit in itself. It's a hard pick for me.
  9. Haha yeah yeah. It's because they bought English, so everyone will ignore the price.
  10. Yeah, but since there's no word on that front, we should assume its Sneijder we're looking at.
  11. Nah I mean.. Henderson + Carroll = £55million. At least we paid a price for a proven world class player..
  12. Yeah, but you gotta be realistic. Inter will laugh if we offer Kalou and Malouda. A 30 year old and a substitute player to replace one of their main playmakers. Not sure who, Essien realistically. . In a dream world, Jack Rodwell. The why, to secure a player like Sneijder, who would be more important.
  13. I like Essien. He's a great man & player, but he's 28 and is looking like someone who's out of their prime. I really want us to give him another full season to try and recapture the Bison form. For this reason I'd rather we gave them Mikel & Malouda. Mikel can be replaced.
  14. LMAO!! He's off to Real?! Hahahaha :541:
  15. By the way guys. Fun Liverpool fact. Carrol + Henderson > Torres. F*cking LOL!
  16. Soton are a good club for youth players. He will excel there.
  17. :censored: .. Tell me I didn't My sincere apologies to all here at Talk Chelsea. Don't know what on earth I was thinking. Complimenting that thieving, living-in-their-past team?! I don't think so!
  18. I agree. The real challenge is, keeping all of these at the club & developing/integrating them well
  19. I agree with everything there Tomo! It demonstrates my point that we should look to produce & sign quality English players regardless of the way they're being coached at the moment in that. Young, Henderson, Rodwell and co are great England prospects and even if England failed in big tournaments, as long as I knew they were representing England because they're the best in England, I'd be very happy indeed. Both as a Chelsea & England fan Definitely. Have high hopes for Chalobah though. He's still 16, so needs a few more years, but with the right coaching he can be better than Jones is now
  20. fair do's Henrique! By the way Liverpool are also looking to sign Phil Jones. A player who embodies a young John Terry, with JT's mentoring he could be just like the legend. A future partner for David Luiz, if we gave him a chance. That being said, I rate Nathan Chalobah as highly and will be amazing one day <-^ so that's ok
  21. I agree about quality. But these English lads are quality and I think we ignore them because we underestimate them, because in the PL you don't have individuals shining as much as in Spain, Italy, Brazil ect. It's more a team game here (not trying to criticise here) Henderson is a quality central attacking midfield player, a Lampard replacement if used correctly. Ashley Young is a proven winger, world class if he played for us, better & cheaper than Alexis Sanchez.
  22. I think in every country you'll find fans jeering their national team when things do not go well. I guess it's just me then, but I feel embarrassed at our lack to input into England's future. Right now there's not guarantees of retaining Bertrand as it is and McEachran's time won't come for a while. Sturridge should make it. But he may be a sole representative. We've contributed the best centre back, left back & midfielder of this generation to England. Our follow up will be poor and below standards
  23. So no-one thinks we should be trying to provide for a healthy future England team? As an English football team? That's makes me very sad..
  24. Yeah, exactly. I'm not saying no to international signings, of course I welcome them, because of cases like Hernandez. But we must do more for England. Starting with Rodwell would be nice, but I don't see it in the club's immediate goals.
