  8. Romeu to undergo Chelsea medical whilst on international duty Posted on Friday, 29th July 2011 by Anthony Williams Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas confirmed to the press that Spanish midfielder Oriol Romeu will undergo a medical with the club's medical staff whilst in Colombia, as the 19-year-old is competing in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup. The Blues have agreed a fee with Barcelona for Romeu, which is reportedly worth around €5m and the Catalan side have the option to re-sign him for €10m in 2013, but that doesn't mean Romeu would go even if they did meet the buyback clause as he is not obligated to accept personal terms. When the deal is finalised Romeu will become Andre Villas-Boas' second signing as Chelsea manager after Thibaut Courtois joined from Genk for €9.5m earlier this month. Romeu could provide useful cover for the injured Michael Essien and AVB is a long-term admirer of the player, who he tried to sign whilst at Porto.

  11. Josh to play against Villa :cfc: 'I spoke to Josh at the beginning and asked him where he felt best on the pitch,' added Villas-Boas. 'The deeper number 6 position is a very important position. I know that Josh touches the ball more in that position and likes to play from that position, but he is also a player who likes to face the play more often and he has the vision to see people in attacking positions with quite some ease. 'It is good to test him as a number 8 position further forward and I think he has the tactical and technical awareness to play in that position. He can fulfil both positions and I am sure he can play the number 10 position as well. But the flexibility that Josh offers is very, very important in any squad and for any coach. 'Josh tomorrow will be involved again in the number 8 role, organising the game from that position.'
