They really weren't up to pace, Thank you winter break. All reasons aside, we've been dropping points when we shouldn't so I think we'll take a much needed victory. Torres and Anelka paired up well. With a week till the next game I hope Carlo figures out and plays the three of them together and Torres starts off scoring against the spoiled scum who have been laughing at him. From now on it's just one game at a time..

A win tomorrow night, and if I may be greedy a brilliant team goal ending with Torres scoring, and then a win at home following Tuesday night against United and we should be fine for the season.. Liverpool will then beat United, and we'd be 9 points off United with a game in hand, with our one game against them still in the balance so the title is only 3 points away, all past **** ups aside, if we don't blow it all up now.. Carlo might have done a ot of things to improve our rut but for tonight's game I don't see anything that he could have done to change things around a bit. Possible brought on Josh, but he would have been the provider and it's not like we were short of chances. The players need to take their chances. It seems no one wants the ball except to be the one who has a shot at goal and unluckily Howard was playing in "GOD MODE"

They also have to play City Away, Us Away and Liverpool away.. I think we'll definitely win one of our games against united, no wait I'm not sure. But hopefully the city and spurs game on 16th april will have the right result for us heading into that weekend.

Purely from a Chelsea fan's perspective everyone would love that. But you have to respect the players wishes and desire to win something with their national team. Englands fans being disgruntled about the players not putting in the same performances as their clubs is because they don't play/train together throughout the year. And no fan should doubt the England players like JT and SFL's commitment towards the English cause. I honestly think Lampard will retire after Euro 2012. Terry may push for WC but seeing the captaincy is lost forever I don't know how long he'll be able to take kids coming up and taking the captains band ahead of him.

I think a loan move to Leicester would be brilliant for him, considering his first team chances are going to be even further limited. Alex is expected back February end, so I don't think there is any point when he can get a few games under his belt.

Seems like the defeat was meant to be. I do think a lot of us are overreacting to the loss, probably because it was the worst time and side to lose a game. Give it time, I honestly think in 2-3 weeks we'll all be jizzing about how well Drogba and Torres complement each other

I wouldn't term it as breaking up. It's more of evolving. Look at any top squad who was at the top in 2005 and and close even now in 2011 Barcelona, Iniesta, Messi, Xavi, Puyol, Valdes Even AC Milan's Old guard has changed considerably And why just abroad, look at United Rooney, Scholes, Giggs, Fletcher, Ferdinand. You can count O'shea, Wes Brown but it doesn't serve the purpose we're discussing here, does it?

When you consider the reported wage figures of the players we've had last season, Ballack 135k - 7mill Deco 90k - 5mill Carvalho - 100k - 5mill Joe Cole - 80k - 4mill Belletti - 60k - 3mill So thats 24 million off the books straight away, Now even if we add the reported Torres' 175k wages, which i honestly doubt to be correct, it would add 9 million, and 4 million each for Ramires and Luiz, So we've still ended up reducing the wages by 7 million AT LEAST. And I haven't even counted Ray Wilkins wages While other clubs have only increased their wage expenditure. Now consider our increased turnover due to being Double champions and new long term sponsorship deals with 188 bet, adidas, singha beer etc. Our Wages as a percentage would have dropped close to 70% already, if not lower. So i think we're quite close to achieveing what the UEFA demands. The reaso i doubt Torres' wages are that high is because the rest of the team stalwarts like Drogba, Lampard, Terry would be well within their rights to ask for a compensation close to that figure and that would only ruin the wage structure. Besides we've paid Top money to get him here, if anything he should understand that and take a pay cut, no my bad I forgot I was talking about footballers not saints My friend, I think the information has eluded you that Drogba didn't even really start his professional football career until he was almost 21. He hasnt gone through the wear and tear that most footballers have been through at 33. Yes his abilities to recover from Malaria are severely affected at 33 but whose aren't. Besides his strengths isn't his speed which will fade away with age, it's his physical strength, finishing, ability to bring others into play, none of which should wither away too quickly in the forseeable future if he remains professional about maintaining those standards. So to sell him just because he is 33, is harsh, the only reason we should sell him is if he wishes to look for a new challenge or someone offers crazy money for him, or he starts asking for crazy money to be on the same pay scale as Torres' reported 200k .
