  1. Time for JT to quit the FA's 'national team' that's all I can say.
  2. He has already been found guilty by the FA. It is simply a matter of placating the anti-Terry media and justifying the decision to strip Terry of the England captaincy and keep it off him. Thank God the balance of probability isn't applied in a court of law, that's all I can say.
  3. --------------------Turnbull---------------- Ferreira--Chalaboah--Luiz--Bertrand ---------------------Oriol------------------- -----------Ramires---McEachran------- -Sturridge------------------------Malouda- --------------------Lukaku-----------------
  4. Well, first and foremost it's going to be tough. United pose a number of threats from a number of areas of the pitch, we need to be aware and disciplined. We cannot allow for lapses in concentration as we have shown in a couple of matches this season. With the confidence and form that United have, a concentration lapse will certainly be punished and therefore we should drop the high defensive line for this game. So, I would go with this line-up: ----------------------Cech------------------- Ivanovic----Alex-----------Terry---A.Cole -------------Ramires--Meireles------------ --------------------Lampard----------------- Sturridge-------------------------------Mata ----------------------Drogba----------------- First contentious issue is the choice of Right-Back. For me, there is no question as to who we should choose. It has to be Ivanovic. Against, United we definitely don't need to full-backs constantly bombing forward. With the likes of Nani and Young on the wings, we need to close them down as tight as possible, we need to stop the crosses coming in (One of United's main threats this season have come from crosses drilled to the six-yard box or back centrally in the area to the likes of Rooney or Cleverley). For me Bosingwa is better going forward than Ivanovic, but is not good enough at putting in tackles and remaining discliplined and sticking to his man. Ivanovic would play this role. He also tends to get in the heads of his opponents, and we need him to try and knock Nani and Young's confidence. Second big issue is who to choose to partner Terry. This is a tricky one for me, but I went with Alex due to the fact he is an experienced head, determined to make the tackle who rarely makes major errors in defence- Everton and West Brom are the only games that stand out for me. Luiz poses a greater attacking threat and is going to be brilliant, but I feel he is too prone to making mistakes for this game. There are certain aspects he needs to shake out of his game before playing in games like this. I also chose Alex for his talent at set pieces, which I feel will be vital in this game. Behind Lampard in Midfield, I have chosen Ramires and Meireles. I picked Ramires due to his effectiveness against United last year, he posed one of the only threats to United in the CL ties, and showed enough confidence to run past their CMs'. He is also pretty disciplined and will track back when required, although his tackling ability could pose a problem. Alongside Ramires is Meireles, I chose him as he could communicate well alongside Ramires and is good at spraying the passes around, we need to play at a faster pace and not give United the chance to organise themselves when we are in attack. In front of Ramires and Meireles is Lampard. His form hasn't been great recently, but he shows pride for his shirt, and will make the runs to support the CF. He is experienced and will not allow United's early season reputation to get to him. On the wings we have Sturridge and Mata. Simply put they are pacy, are not afraid to take on a man. They are unpredictable yet calculated and will pose a threat to United. Both men will be in high spirits and ready to knock United off their perch. Up front is Drogba. I feel we need his stregnth to take on Ferdinand, Smalling and Jones. He is composed and poses a threat from set pieces. I am concerned about his confidence levels and I would want him to try and abstain from making those ridiculous shots he occasionally takes. I'd want him to get in the area and shake the defenders off him and get the shot away. He also poses an aerial threat which could cause De Gea some problems when dealing with corners. In terms of our general play, I believe we need to be robust, not lose shape and try and retain posession. We need to be focused, determined and disciplined. We need to get our passes away quickly and accurately, directly to our wingers. We cannot be afraid. It'll be tough but if we can keep our heads together we can do it. KTBFFH.
  5. I really want them to play Tore in the game against Newcastle. Am I the only person to find myself really impressed with him?
  6. To be honest, I just want pre-season to begin now. I'm done with this season.
  7. We can adhere to the FFP rules by 'buying out' the contracts made before 2008 (I think that's the date where you can do that) and by getting rid of the dead weight, thus lowering our net spend. We will make a loss next year, no doubt about that, but we can bring players in without being hit too hard.
  8. Well, I would like two/three players in- a creative midfielder, a left-sided winger and possibly a right-back. On top of that I'd like a new assistant manager, with credentials with understanding of the Italian and English game and someone that can understand the language- either bring back Wilkins or bring in Zola. I get the impression that communication between Carlo and the team was a problem after Wilkins left, the side look lost and confused- not ideal when you are overhauling tactics/formations. Oh, and a decent back up keeper would also be good. I'd like to keep Carlo, I feel he is one of the best managers in the world, and someone that knows our side inside out. We could do with a bit of continuity within the side, and Carlo will know more about Chelsea than almost anyone. I feel we have an excellent chance to go and win it next year, we just need to ensure our heads don't drop and we invest in the right area of the team. We also need to support the manager! If it were me, the side would look like this: ------------------Cech----------------- VDW------Alex-----Terry-----A.Cole ------------------Essien----------------- ------------Nasri-------Lampard-------- Sanchez-----------------------Malouda -------------------Drogba---------------- Bench: Begovic, Ivanovic, Luiz, Mikel, Ramires, Sturridge, Torres Out: Anelka, Kalou, Bosingwa, Hilario, Zhirkov, Cork, Mellis (about £37 Million income in total) In: Sanchez (£22.5 Million), Nasri (£13.5 Million- contract close to expiring), Van Der Wiel (£12 Million), Begovic (£4 Million) NET SPEND: £15 Million Management: Ancelotti, Zola
  9. How did you come to that conclusion? With you being based in Brazil, have you even been to Stamford Bridge?
  10. Absolutely yes. The best man for the job. Understands Italian and English fluently. Also understands tactics and football excellently. He could communicate the tactical ideas that Carlo has, that perhaps he couldn't communicate before. Also, he understands and loves the club. He can inject that passion and knowledge into the side. For Gianfranco, it is a fantastic opportunity to develop his managerial skills and learn from one of the best coaches from the last decade, and potentially take over from Carlo in the future.
  11. I hope he gets outed. It's time United got some horrendous press.
  12. Don't want to turn it into a political thread, because it's not the time or place, but wings of the EDL certainly have links to racism and the BNP. Many are pretty mindless in their approach to immigration. EDL doesn't necessarily equal bad, but parts of it certainly have a horrendous reputation. This racist EDL-inspired/twisted element certainly extends to the extreme side of our support, which is pretty disgusting at times (but it is a minority).
  13. Good little resource this but a few little pedantic corrections: Running round the Tottenham We'll be running round Tottenham with our willies hanging out, We'll be running round Tottenham with our willies hanging out, We'll be running round Tottenham Running round Tottenham Running round Tottenham with our willies hanging out Singing I've got a foreskin haven't you? (No you ain't!) Oh, North London! Oh, North London. Oh, North London. Is full of shit. Is full of shit. Oh North London is full of shit! Is full of shit, shit and more shit. Oh North London is full of shit ...and I've never heard "We're only here for the Chelsea". I've only heard it used in gest against the opposition side as "You're only here for the Chelsea" but it's possible both songs could be used. I know it's pedantic!
  14. While on the subject of extreme supporters, I believe every club has it's idiotic minority. A minority of our fans are racist, EDL-supporting, far right, virtually neo-nazi thugs, doesn't effect my judgement of the entire club and doesn't tarnish by love for Chelsea. Celtic's extreme fans are in the minority- the ways they have voiced there opposition to the wars we have been involved in have been nothing short is disgraceful, but it is the minority that genuinely feel that way.
  15. 1. United, 2. Spurs, 3. Liverpool, 4. City, 5. Leeds
  16. Couldn't agree more with any of that. Well said, sir.
  17. A really good looking stadium, modern, large capacity and I'm sure the acoustics are fantastic. I doubt much sound escapes. Would love a stadium like that, albeit with a few tweaks.
  18. Whilst I appreciate the stigma that Stamford Bridge has it really is a choice between success and legacy. If we want to compete at the top, fulfill our potential and be self sustainable we will need to move onto a new stadium. We laugh at Liverpool for harping back to their history and disregard their performance right here, right now but we are in danger of doing that if we cling onto our amazing memories at Stamford Bridge. Considering the stadium would be paid for, it's a golden opportunity for us. In terms of architecture, I would like something really ambitious- we could get someone like Norman Foster involved and create a real identity.
  19. Well against Wigan I'd give this a go and see if the system works first. -------------------------Cech----------------------- Ivanovic-------Alex-------Terry--------A.Cole ----------------Essien------Mikel----------------- -----Ramires------Benayoun----Malouda--- -----------------------Torres------------------------ SUBS: Torres (Drogba), Essien (Anelka), Benayoun (Lampard) Thus reverting to 4-3-3. We're going to have to be flexible to accommodate Torres and Drogba and beat United. I might be tempted to rest Terry and put Luiz in for the Wigan game just to give him some game time. Obviosuly, we wouldn't be able to do that against United.
  20. The goal yesterday could have pretty much been avoided if Bosingwa had his head screwed on.
  21. The Inter kits have been photoshopped, but they are pretty good.
  22. If the second shirt is true, I do not understand it at all. A Navy Blue shirt with a royal blue square pattern taking up the majority of the front of the shirt. Does that not defeat the object of having an away shirt?
  23. I'd be disappointed if we didn't try to blood Josh as a playmaker.
  24. But the thing is, didn't that 100m include shirt sponsorship as well? I certainly think we should be looking at Arsenal's business model a bit closer, perhaps with not quite as much emphasis on youth development.
  25. Personally I'd be looking at something like a 56,000-60,000 seater stadium complete with naming rights, although not necessarily as high as £100 Million over ten years.
