This is a non-questionable must win game for Chelsea, if there's a "huge game" pressure, it's only because the team, including Potter, had caused this situation
-
Funny how we seem to be into buying wonderkids everyone was after 3 years ago, just as unproven and undeveloped, yet thrice the price lol. But likes of (new) Fofana may be a sign of good change here.

Yeah, but is Brighton's most optimistic objective of doing decent comparable to ours, unless we want to stay in top 10 and not win the title? Lamps did very well in Derby too. I personally don't like him and not trust him, not gonna lie, but it's not my point - so far we are crap under him AND one of the gripes of previous windows was "Tuchel not having a pull compared to manager X". So what kind of pull does Potter have? Except maybe for Brighton players, but we already see how well they do for us. Like Pizy says, he have a hard task on his back to gain respect and shoes bit too big for him imo, and it's not even his fault. And we always complain about players, but apparently we need to literally build a club culture from scratch, as buying better or worse didn't do us too well, at least in long-term perspective. Is he capable to be at the wheel of this time will tell. BUT maybe owner's are okay with wasting few seasons now, but I'm personally not and so are a lot of fans I guess. Life is not Ted Lasso stuff, at least not in top 3 level. If we are not considering ourselves top3, then well, way to go. It worked with Arsenal, because they had openly submitted at some point - club needs to decide whether we are top level and do top level or are we shit and take our time to rebuild in reasonable way, but then instead of tossing billions, maybe it's time to let our very own guys have some space to shine.

Transfer rumors yaya, but I think that before any business a very important question of "do we actually have a manager" must be answered. Otherwise it's another multi-million tossing random pieces at random bloke, hoping for it to somehow miraculously work out itself, we can stick to what we have just as well.
-
Of course I'm being ironic, but imo Felix is just as useless and seeing the same kind of reported owner's enthusiasm is worrying
-
Still time to hijack Ronaldo's move, isn't it? Just saying…
-
Set aside our ability to pull him, but would Rice, after 3 years of media hype buuble, be able to handle it and actually do well here? Or the club will be desperate to repeat the Werner story, but multiple the price? I feel like it just takes too much time and attention to work out in the end…
-
Oh, who would expect this 🙃 But hey, at least we humiliated ourselves over mediocre player, who never wanted to come here.

Funny to consider new candidates for "elite, long term coach" given the club had just fired one not long ago. I am not sold on Potter. Hard to judge his tactical talent, but he seems to lack personality of top coach. Hopefully he does all those "other things" at the club that TT was fired for not doing, but I don't really see him integrating academy or heading the scout team or whatever atm. But the point is, "club having trust in Potter, even if he misses out on top 4" is making me literally rage. Like WTF, we are not in position to hire some supposedly talented amateur and give him time to grow into big boys football. This is not Apple TV series. Of course, the list of excuses for such event will be endless, but come on, maybe new owners have trust in Potter and their transfers, but looking at this I think I am starting to lose trust for the club I've been supporting for over 20 years and seen a lot of crusty stuff since.
-
Like Werner and Havertz? They also didn't buy best possible prospects in form of Sancho, Wan-Bissaka, Bailey (lol), Upamecano and lot's of people we've already forgotten even exist, so I guess the "hot prospect", at least in crowd's opinion, is not the most efficient measure to go by. Those SM-inflated starlettes flop 99% of cases after setting foot away from their small-time cozy club, where they can shine. Actually, Tchouaméni is one of not many recent contrary examples I can think of.
-
You mean, they are not Man City nor PSG, so suddenly a) FFP is a thing b) They may actually be in hot water for this? Besides, they supposedly overstated player's transfer values… That's relative as hell, for example we should be jailed for pretty much every incoming transfer in recent years then.
-
So, people were happy for sacking Tuchel because he would lose this kind of matches. Oh well, wait… And yes, constant complaining about how poor our squad is… We ain't no Fulham, the squad is in the upper-mediocre tier and we constantly have the same kind of attitude, club structure, training and so on kind of problems, now including no serious manager, but at least he's english and "developing for future" and making use of our youth, right?
-
Thinking where they got him from I wonder what's a point of having a "top notch academy" if we can't manage to properly develop and retain talented youth. It's not a first and not a last player who had to leave to explode his potential, otherwise he'd spent rest of his career on loans to 3rd Spanish division…
-
Like and respect the guy, but please no. Are we finally gonna learn something, or Potter is another piece of our everlasting "change everything for hundreds of millions just to change nothing at all" philosophy?
-
Would love to see him back at club, he seems like a very flexible asset
-
Some will do an incredible acrobatics too excuse him, but let's face it - no company will pay for multi million manager for him to have time and stroll around building the team. He is paid to deliver solutions. Boehly may be madman, but one don't spend 250 mil in half panic window just to scrap it and start over 3 days later, with letting go CL football and league result, because we build grassroots now. BS. I wonder how people think he will improve mentality in the dressing room that lacked respect for freaking Conte and Lampard. Some "most expensive X in history" are in this room and perhaps they will ask themselves who tf is Potter, so he needs to prove himself with either some wicked philosophy or knowledge or charisma (and he seems to lack personality a bit for now) fast or it will not go well - massive task for someone like him. The pressure is on the guy and we will see what will come from it.
-
Our attack was not converting chances, so product-wise no difference, and the team not being clinical - geezus, I hear it since pre-Sarri at best. Today we did the usual thing, offensive and defensive wise. As I said - I don't care for Potter himself, for me it's all on and about Boehly and managing a club. However if he tried risking it all with radically different squad and some clever formation idea intstead of smooth takeover I'd be more sold on his attempt, but it doesn't matter. And I think the mentality issue is bit overblown - I guess it was way worse under late Lampard than now. Just ask Yourself - what would You read in this thread if we got the same result with TT? I don't care for us looking decent against way worse club - I care for us not dropping from CL for now. A good manger must need to know what to do, and will see what he does, but if under Potter things will go the same way with usual "players x and y bad, most expensive transfers in history bad, mentality bad", I'm just fed up with it. Like seriously, there are worse teams than us, doing way better.
-
I don't see us losing it and, after all, we won CL under him, so why not? We can only speculate now, it's not like TT or Lamps would get us relegated, things do change around in football. I understand You are 100% into Potter, but today we didn't play with different formation, idea, subs, squad or mentality like we used to under TT, so personally I don't see a reason to be optimistic and consider the crisis being on the way to be solved for now.
-
Not sold on Potter, but it doesn't matter - we've seen a failure of a club as a whole today. But just don't be ridiculous with "he needs time" to win a 100% won game. If he was appointed to "have time", it would happen after season. When Tuchel was appointed it wasn't for him to apply his philosophy but to get result. Nothing personal about Potter - don't know him and don't care. Point is today's only goal was to win the game and club as a whole - manager, players and owners, failed at accomplishing it.
-
I somehow understand the bias here, lol, but in fact, the only change for now is people here move from bashing Tuchel to bashing players. Result is still abysmal and the only thing we needed today is delivering result and that's what the change was for. Calendar is ultra fortunate for Potter, but if things doesn't turn around in 3 or so games, I don't see a happy end to this.
-
Doubt people do so, problem is, we are in the same very bad place we've been for a while and controversial sacking of rather liked manager don't improve it for now and we need improvement now
-
Are You guys just giving Potter an ultimate slack, or seriously see some ingenious tactical idea, that differs anyhow from what we did before?
-
Yeah, so just think what would happen, if Fulham fixture would go on as planned
-
Worst thing is it's not an accident or bad luck, it just shows where we are the moment.
-
Yeah, not surprised a tiniest bit. They scored from a single attempt of play that we tried 20 times in this match
