Two years ago Kante was one of two world class players. Its sad and shocking to see him now looking like a player who we need to upgrade on.
-
And at everything else he tries to do. This is his worst performance I've seen from him! Really needs to be taken off and dropped for a while!
-
Not liking the vibe at the club at the mo - no signings. pissed off manager. 70 million keeper dropped, even tho i support that bit. Would be happy with a point today!
-
If we don't sign a player or two then to me it's a sign the board are having second thoughts about keeping Frank next season. Nothing is ever to shocking or stupid when it cones to the planning and running of the club.
-
Mr Villa or not. Money talks for both club and player. Imho, if he really is all that, in his position he would be more important to us than Sancho (especially as we already have two young wide players) so I'd be happy to see us pay over the top money for him.
-
I must admit that I haven't paid too much attention to him because what I had seen of him he seemed to me like a bit of a lightweight showpony. By most accounts he's a lot more than that, so I've got it badly wrong...as usual.
-
I didn't see the game but I gather Grealish was exceptional and better than Maddson. Wonder if it's true about us looking to sign Grealish? We are desperately short of a player who makes a lot of good passes in the final third of the pitch! .
-
You're right! I was thinking about the game completely turning after the Kante miss when we were 1 up. I forgot about the couple of other chances.
-
Remember how good we were for the first 20 mins of the home game when we could have been 2 up, but from there on we were a distant second best and lucky to get a draw. Nevermind from one game to the next, we don't know how our team is going to play from one half to the next. We don't do consistency or predictability, so god knows how we'll do.
-
We've got a genuine Chelsea legend as manager and we're finally seeing our young players being given a chance, but it's "hard to love this era of Chelsea." Are we only worth following when we're winning or challenging for the title? Sorry, but the attitude of too many fans is just wrong! Couldn't wait to get rid of Jose. Couldn't wait to get rid of Conte. Couldn't wait to get rid of Sarri. Now this is.boring shit too. What exactly do we want?
-
I agree! It's amazing to see we're still in 4th place, yet in terms of points we're closer to the bottom team than the top lol. But it's obviously not just us who aren't all that. Between them, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Utd have played 94 games and eon 35 of them. It's another top four race to see who is the least worst.
-
And you don't worry every time a player has a shot at our goal? I know i do! On Teusday, the split second before the shot fior their second goal went in, I once again thought if he shoots there's a great chance of a goal and I get that feeling every single time now. There was a stat the other day that showed he ranks 127 out of the top 132 European clubs for goals conceded from shots on target.
-
I wonder too! Rudi tries hard but at best he's a very moderate CB who should be nothing more than a 4th choice option.
-
I don't know about most overrated, but he's certainly one of the most frustrating players we've ever had. He was fecking awesome against Spurs, but then puts in too many performances like last nights. Some players just don't have that mentality to be fired up for every match and that goes for all sports. They'd be the same if they were making £500 or 500,000 a week.
-
Our away following give good support though!
-
I remember being torn a new one for doing that during a training session with my school team. Jorginho is lucky he doesn't have JT and co around!
-
We've paid crap loads to get rid of some great managers who won us titles, so i'd be happy to see us pay this clown a load to walk away and find a new club.
-
Couple of positives. I thought Christensen had by far his best game this season. Up until we scored it was the best I've seen CHO in a league game. Looked confident and aggressive which is exactly what we need from him! We play far too slow though! No defender or midfielder who can spot or hit a fast 30 yarder, so we pass back and forth across the back four then move up a bit, hit it wide then back inside then out wide again and by then the opponents pen area is full of defenders, so it's no wonder we're struggling to get enough clear cut shots on goal.
-
Has there ever really been much planning beyond one season? We got by by hiring and firing some world class nanagers at the peaks of their careers and threw a lot of money at it. Sooner or later the lack of planning would catch up us and now it has! But we the fans are as much to blame for this. Already some want Frank sacked and he hasn't even signed a single player yet. How many of us would wait years for things to come together the way it has for Liverpool under Klopp?
-
I couldn't disagree more about our midfield! Imho it's absolutely killing us, both defensively and offensively. Having 70% possession and making a 1001 passes in the middle of the pitch is meaningless. Honestly, what the hell did Kovacic and Kante bring to the team tonight? It's sad to see the once mighty Kante looking like a journeyman player these days.
-
I couldn't agree more! I think we overachieved last season, which was mainly due to so many other teams being even worse than us. We just have a team filled with moderate level players these days. Yes, some have good games every now and then but so does nearly every player in the Premiership. But week in week out most of our current squad are just not good enough. It's a 2 or 3 year job at least to rebuild this team. Patience is needed by everyone!
-
My tactic to play against us would be to shoot as soon aa you get inside our half. You only need two on target and one will go in.
-
Tbh, I don't follow football outside of England, so I really don't have much of a clue who we should try and get. But it really shouldn't be that hard to find a better keeper than Kepa.
-
But this is why we're a million miles off from challenging for the title these days. We have people making hugely important decisions who haven't a clue what they're doing, making bad signing after bad signing. The only consolation is we're not the only top club getting it very badly wrong. . .
-
Doing the impossible by making the Torres. signing look like good value for money. Apart from having decent reflexes for low shots, he is fecking pants at every other aspect of goalkeeping! We're just making far, far too many terrible or bang average signings, and until we get people in who know what they're doing when looking at players to sign, we won't have a prayer of challenging for the title again any time soon!
