Agree! Ball possession and pass percentage mean jack! A midfielder who makes very creative, probing passes in the final third of the pitch is unlikely to have as high a pass percentage as ones like Jorginho and Kova who make lots of short passes much deeper. We simply need more players who can create and be a real threat to the opposistion. Take the Utd game. Kova was probably our best player. But for all his technical ability and running with the ball in the middle of the pitch, once he got into the final third he was clueless and downright poor. He has far too many of these kind of games.

But so many of our goal attempts are in very crowed penalty areas, which is mostly down to our pedestrian build up play with endless passes and players frustratingly looking for another pass or taking an extra touch when in a good position. Liverpool and an on form City are consistently able to carve open teams and have 3 or 4 attackers against 3 or 4 defenders. Until we start opening up teams at pace, we'll struggle to do what the top teams are doing. .

All Someone has in his tactical locker is to suffocate teams, knick a goal a defend it. You know as well as I do that will only take you so far in the EPL. We'd become the new Arsenal getting 4th place every year, but playing mind rotting football along the way. I remember watching a CL game at Athletico when we were managed by Jose. Not just the most boring game I'd ever seen but the most boring hour of sport I'd see. I was in a pub and after an hour I stopped watching a had a game of Pool instead and I don't even like playing Pool. Imho, managers like Simeone and Jose are just bad for top level football.

No question Frank is making rookie mistakes from which he'll have to learn from or be sacked. What he can't be responsible for tho is Bats being Bats. Stuck with a midfield (whichever combo we use) that can't create or score or protect the defence. 4 CB's who are all 4th choice level. Shit keepers. Shit RB's. We really should not be anywhere near 4th place with this sorry lot. 2 years from now, from those who played last night I only expect James, Mount and probably Kova to still be Chelsea players. That is the level of the rebuild job that is needed.

Years ago, we had real quality players with great character right thru the spine of the team and when things started to wrong, we were always just a change of manager away from competing for the title again. That is not the case any more! We're now a million miles away from challenging for title and the squad needs a massive overhaul. Lots of time, money and patience is going to be needed to get back to challenging. Frank is making mistakes and has a lot to learn but it would be stupid to give him the boot when he hasn't even signed any players yet. We need to show real support and back the manager more than ever. If, in 12- 18 months there's zero sign of improvement, then it might be time to change the manager.
