Will we need to finish third to qualify for the UCL?
The Skipper replied to oxfordblues's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
No, not for a long time. The English coefficients over the last 6 years will keep us in there for a long time. -
This was the argument that really annoyed me the most - people were happy to see Sturridge go because supposedly he'll never be world class (which is easy to say, as a lot of people wrote him and even Lukaku off based on a couple of minutes). No one knows whether he'll be world class or not. Sturridge would have been infinitely better for us upfront this season if he played the minutes Torres played for us this season, I'm very sure of that. We didn't have a world class striker at the start of the season but that doesn't justify us not playing Sturridge or making the decision to sell Sturridge okay. We would've been higher up the table and probably would've won a cup or two by now too in my opinion if we played him instead of Fernando. He's proving that at Liverpool - in his 11 games there he's scored 7 already which include goal and assists against the likes of United, us and City; he's already scored more goals against big teams than Torres has for us. Will he be world class? We don't know, it's easier to be pessimistic about it though as it's hard to predict such in football. What I do know though is that Sturridge will be a very good striker if he'll continue to play minutes in his preferred position, something we failed to do.

Well maybe that had to do with the fact that he only started twice for us this season and then came off the bench with only 5/10 minutes to go? He wasn't given enough minutes for you to call his decision making inconsistent. His decision making at Liverpool isn't inconsistent at all right now and that's simply due to the fact that they've given him a run in.
-
The season after, yeah.
-
Agreed. Nice to see you around again Konohas.
-
They accepted an offer of around that last year from Tottenham so naturally one would assume they'd do the same!
-
Inconsistent in what sense, can you please elaborate?
-
Disgusting, sub human vile little shit.

LOL this still hurts man .

LOL I don't know? Ask the TalkChelsea forum for not formatting my post correctly. Fixed though.

If the Schurrle transfer wasn't so nailed on I'd love if we went for Sanchez, he's definitely a player made for the BPL. One other player I'd like to see us getting from Barcelona is Song. Both for £40m would be a great deal. Then you could easily have a team of: Cech Azpilicueta - Luiz - Terry - Cole Song - Oscar Sanchez - Mata - Hazard Lukaku A scary team IMO, especially on the counter with Sanchez, Lukaku and Hazard bringing their devastating pace to the game and Song and Oscar launching those defence splitting passes/initiating the attack.

Where I'm at for university, Birmingham, is really great. There are so many places, and the best thing is the main clubs are all on the same street. I'd put Birmingham in the top 3 for nightlife in the UK for sure.
-
Yeah, I really hate him for that. Back home we call him the big game choker. I still wouldn't say no to him though, especially if Schurrle somehow doesn't get signed. I'd love to see something like Moses - Hazard - Robben if we needed to pose a direct threat to a team.
-
I'd love Song. I hope he's leaving Barcelona this season, would be an ideal signing for us tbh.

Lukaku is the Lebron James of football

I don't think we'll simply forget about Sturridge. Personally I would've loved to see us going into next season with Sturridge, Lukaku and Ba, would've been a nice, versatile, young strike force. Sturridge is making a name for himself, and with this Suarez ban he'll definitely solidify himself as one of the premier strikers in the league in my opinion. He's a good striker with a bright future ahead of him.

Goal of the season/ Video submission thread
The Skipper replied to CHOULO19's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I think it's all goals . -
Lol! You know what I meant Sir Trollington! Literally living up to your name

We win tomorrow and against Spurs and top 4 is ours I reckon.
-
Because we made a mistake? He's only going to get better, and it's our fault for letting him go. Anyway, delighted that Spurs drew against Wigan. Big opportunity tomorrow to go 3 pts ahead of them now. If we manage to win the Spurs game (which I will be going to btw ) as well as tomorrow's game I think top 4's ours.

Guys, I hate to go all mod on you but this is the Neymar thread, if you have personal issues please resort to the PM system. My view on Neymar is reserved. I won't really rate how good/bad he is until he comes to Europe where I can watch him regularly enough to pass a judgment. Barcelona's the ideal club for him to go to - will he make the transition from an above average league to a top league? We'll just have to wait and see. Until then, I'm not involving myself in the business of stating whether Neymar will be world class or not.

Well... It's a bit too early to call. Gullit was physically a monster. Aké has similar versatility but if there was any player you could compare Gullit in his prime to right now it'd be Yaya Toure. Aké isn't like him simply because he's not as athletic/physical and also not as technically outstanding. Aké is still a very rough diamond so it'll be interesting to see what sort of player he'll develop into - my bet though is that he'll be Makelele-esque, maybe Mascherano-esque but that's just a wild guess. As I said, we'll see. It'll be very interesting to see what sort of player he turns out to be.

So Hull have Cardiff in their last game of the season. Hopefully Cardiff produce a draw against them and Watford beat Leeds to clinch automatic promotion. Really want to see Nathaniel at Watford in the PL next season, would be absolutely ideal. Come on Watford!

It really is sad, I always got shot down for saying Sturridge was good enough to be our second choice striker but yeah, gutted he's left us still. Don't blame him though, good move for his own career. If Torres wasn't here Danny could've been a very important player for us by now.
