It was a simple underhit back pass to the goal keeper which he messed up twice. It wasn't like he tried to distribute in between players. I don't like Rafa but I won't blame him for Ivanovic's dreadful mistakes.
-
Yeah once, okay. But he did it twice. You can't deny that that was his worst performance ever for us. Single handily dumped us out of the cup IMO.
-
Yeah, because Mourinho is God right? You do know you're allowed to have a mind of your own?
-
I'm going by what Mourinho said - he said we need a player that can link up well and play in between the lines. If we don't find anyone then we might as well just give Lukaku who clearly is a goal scorer himself a chance to play regularly as our number 1 striker.
-
Then you don't buy and just wait until one will be available. No need in wasting money.
-
We've already got a striker that can do all of which you've mentioned in Lukaku. Lukaku is an explosive player that is very dangerous in the box and could very well be just as good as Jackson Martinez if we give him a run in and play in a system that suits that sort of play but the thing is we don't. Torres' link up play is poor, again I question if you actually watch Chelsea play. How anyone thinks Torres' link up play is wonderful is beyond me. Mourinho himself said that he wants a striker that can play in between the line a link play up well. We shouldn't be buying a new striker just for the sake of buying a new striker. We need to make sure they're the right player.
-
Martinez is not the type of striker we need. I feel many that want him here haven't actually seen him play a lot, they just look at his goal scoring ratio which is very impressive but he isn't particularly good at link up play and playing in between the lines - what he is great at is utilising his explosiveness to get into the box. He's pretty much a great poacher. I doubt the club are actually looking at getting him in because he doesn't suit the profile of the type of striker we're trying to get in. He is a great striker and has the capabilities to score great goals for sure but he isn't the sort of striker we need.
-
For once, I actually agree with you on this.
-
Could potentially go out on loan if Willian signs which is a real shame tbh.
-
Lol, he really doesn't. You really haven't watched Willian play if you think he has any sort of capabilities to be a deep lying playmaker.
-
Of course he's not Willian's level. Moses cost us £7m, Willian will cost us £30m. That's not the debate here. The discussion is that we don't need to sign a player where our squad is the strongest for £30m. It means reduced playing time for talents like Oscar and KDB. That area of our squad already matches the likes of Bayern and Real so there really isn't any need to spend another £30m in there when there are other areas in the squad that could use that £30m more effectively. Other areas of the squad will be fixed in due time and there is no hurry or need to panic you say? Why the hell are we spending this £30m on an area that doesn't need to improve? Any shrewd business man would look to strengthen their weakest areas first rather than strengthening an area that doesn't need it at all. Why should we be content with spending an unnecessary amount when we're struggling in the pivot and up front? It really doesn't make sense. I'll wait it out to see what happens over the next few days but as of now I'm very disappointed.
-
That's the thing though, whatever the scenario is I feel the signing is very unneeded especially when it may be that Jose has decided to sell Mata. I will wait and see what happens over the next few days but any scenario I've tried to play out in my head doesn't look that promising.
-
Will be nothing more but a rotational player this season if Willian is signed I'm afraid which is very disappointing.
-
So what, people are supposed to be happy with a signing that doesn't make sense in their opinion? Why should we be happy about spanking out £30m on a player we don't need?
-
Moses provides directness on the right and he does so very well. We've already got out-and-out strikers, most people understand that we need a striker that can play in between the lines, it's not the case of people wanting out-and-out strikers on here, I certainly don't. Yeah, you don't turn into a great team in one transfer window but you can't really use that to justify this signing. You're completely ignoring that we've been building this team over the last 2/3 seasons and it only needs probably 2/3 correct signings to make it the complete squad but we're adding and excessively spending in an area that is the strongest in the team so it doesn't make sense whatsoever. It isn't like we have just started rebuilding the team this transfer window.
-
22 outfield players.
-
Think he meant 22 outfield players.
-
Of course he's going to be an upgrade on Moses, lol. Moses cost £7m, Willian will cost us £30m. You don't spend £30m on a squad player either. So expect KDB and Oscar to be on the bench more often, especially if Mata stays.
-
I'm not underestimating at all, I'm not calling Willian a bad player whatsoever, it's just that this signing is not needed whatsoever and that spending £30m on a player we don't need just doesn't make sense at all. I haven't discussed the player's ability.
-
Who knows - I just have a very bad feeling that he's off now for Rooney. Hopefully that's wrong but I really do not see the point in spending £30m on a player we really do not need. If Willian was going for around £15m then fair enough but such an excessive amount is ridiculous. It's not sentiment at all, it's the fact that you're basically okay with us selling one of the best players in the world for no reason that's ridiculous. Mata is still the most creative player in the squad whatever you may say. It's ridiculous to get rid of one of our top players and give him to our title rivals just to get Wayne, thus strengthening them because Mata is a better number 10 than Rooney. I really hope this is not the case. This is not FIFA.
-
Lol. Wow. Let's sell our best player over the last 2 seasons/give him to our title rivals just to get Rooney. You're talking as if it's easy to replace a person who got around 20 goals and 30 assists last season, really ridiculous. I'd really like Rooney but not at Mata's expense. I'm not sure any true Chelsea fan can actually wholeheartedly say that. Shocking.
-
Nope, still very stupid. We'll see if that logic still makes sense when we potentially trade in Mata for Rooney. I just have a very bad feeling about all of this.
-
It's still a really stupid, idiotic signing. I'm disappointed.
-
Moses or Mata off and reduced playing time for KDB then.
-
The Mata quotes doesn't sound too convincing to me.
