And Kenneth's even gone out on loan so pretty much right now if we did sell Luiz we'd have to throw in Kalas at CB if Cahill or Terry got a knock.
-
Not aimed at you mate but people are completely forgetting how good he was in the second half of last season... Short term memory at it's finest. People are acting like Luiz has been playing like he has this season for his entire CFC career when that's not true whatsoever.
-
It's very naive to think that Cahill won't get injured or won't drop form or Luiz won't pick up his form...
-
At City, he'd have to compete with Nastasic correct, but Nastasic has been injured a lot this season and he's certainly an improvement on Lescott or Demichellis. City play with a high line and build from the back so Luiz could be ideal for them, especially next to a very solid leader in Kompany (who also gets injured quite a bit). United... I don't rate any of their CBs apart from Vidic and Jones. Vidic is nearing the end of his career, so is Rio, Jonny Evans and Smalling aren't as good as Luiz either. Bayern have a solid core of defenders there but due to the way they play under Pep especially I think they'd potentially be interested too. I think Luiz is possibly better than all of their CBs when on form too but that's just my personal opinion. Now I'm not saying that all these clubs would definitely be queuing up but I'm sure that if Luiz was to be made available on the market they'd look into the possibility of it. PS: sorry for going off topic. Would be nice if this discussion was moved to the Luiz thread by any of the mods.

A Kompany - Luiz partnership would be the best in the PL and one of the best in the world when both are on form. Fits in with Pellegrini's philosophy too. I'm not saying they'd sign him but United have a huge CB problem IMO. Barcelona also for obvious reasons.
-
Man City, United, Barcelona, Bayern just to mention a few clubs. If Luiz regained form he'd walk into those teams in my honest opinion.
-
Still, even if we do go by your valuation, £25m is still a nice price, so the deal is nowhere near as bad as you're trying to make it seem. Torres on the other hand... I'd bite your hand off if you offered £10-15m for him. Now that's what you call a bad deal. He's not even worth half of what we paid for him. Call Luiz's average if you want but to say it's one of the worst deals ever done is ridiculous. Yeah, Luiz has slightly regressed this season but before that he was steadily improving and he still has enough time to turn it around in the second half of this season. There's still plenty of games to go.
-
Why is the David Luiz deal bad when he's clearly increased his value since he has joined us?Torres yes, Luiz no. If we wanted to sell Luiz he'd go for more than we got him for. And again before you say it, there is no way Matic would've made it if he stayed here.

Chelsea report loss of £49.4m for the financial year
The Skipper replied to Toli's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Probably not breaking even but there are a lot of things that wasn't included in that report. If we spend wisely this January and in the summer the number will definitely improve - the new sponsorship deals, the new TV rights deal, hopefully some decent CL money if we reach like the quarter finals or semis and PL money... We're fine. Don't forget we also have a huge asset in Mata (probably around £30m in itself) as well in the summer. -
I'd throw in Baker as well.
-
First Sturridge and now Rodgers. Liverpool PR machine at it's finest. You've got to laugh.
-
Now both him and JT are finally getting some proper protection from midfield they do look better indeed.
-
You're right, but tbh I'd rather give someone like Chalobah Essien's current spot.
-
Nah, you expected us to get battered. You're not the voice of every Chelsea fan mate.
-
It's stuff like that that I want to see more often from Romelu. Intelligent play, bringing in others, linking up well. He did well indeed and if he does that more regularly he'd have an easy time here at CFC when he comes back.
-
Aww come on, not again surely. People making stuff up. Starting once up front in the 2012/13 season is numerous chances? No one was expecting Sturridge to start up front before he went out on loan to Bolton, he had Drogba, Anelka and Torres in front of him. He returned to us from Bolton and was the top scorer in the league for us despite barely playing in the second half of it and playing out of position. We cashed in on him because his contract was running out, not because he had numerous chances and failed to prove himself. He should've had more chances last season but RDM persisted with Torres and Rafa was more interested in resuscitating Torres too. Both times Sturridge was overlooked simply due to Torres having to play to prove his price tag.
-
Cleverley, Fellaini, Giggs, Fletcher, Jones, Carrick. Whoever plays.
-
We're very thin in midfield, if he comes in and does well in the few training sessions before the game I think he'll start against United too.
-
If it's anyone he's similar to, it's Javi Martinez indeed. He has a little bit more finesse about him though. More fleet footed.
-
£16m rising to £20m isn't bad at all, profit made, chunk of it goes to the Matic deal, shrewd business. Good luck KDB, hopefully you turn out to be the magnificent player you're promising to be.
-
I don't come on here lauding every goal he's scored but I thought, as I was watching the game, his assist was sublime hence why I commented. I'd do the same if I was watching a Galatasaray game or WBA game and Anelka or Drogba came up with a sublime assist too. All I did was comment on how I liked his assist (nothing to do with him leaving us or the comments he's made) and apparently I'm a Liverpool supporter or scum. There's bad blood and I completely understand why some CFC don't like him but some on here (not yourself) go on like we treated him fairly to begin with. He wasn't given a fair chance here so obviously he won't promote the club in a positive light... I personally don't care about his comments because honestly the only bad thing he has said is that to him Liverpool are a bigger club but I know he's just saying that to appease his fans there, that's all. It's the Liverpool PR system. That's not going to make me stop liking him as a football player because I honestly don't care about his personal opinions about us, I just like him at as a football player, don't know how my "loyalty" to Chelsea is questioned because of that. I really like Wayne Rooney as a player too, does that suddenly mean I'm a United fan if I go on his thread and praise a goal he's scored or an assist he's made?
-
Funny thing is, clumsy Brazilian and Matic would walk into their team right about now.
-
Adebayor wasn't that bad for City though in general.
-
Matic isn't coming in for Mikel though. If you're saying that then you clearly think Mikel was a starter. Matic is coming in to fill the void next to Ramires. That means less playing time for Mikel and Lampard. It wasn't a problem with Mikel because he wasn't a starter to begin with, it was a problem with the squad make up.
